Hi from Rachel!
Last week I got a shipment of really gorgeous fall colored Shimmerz products from the shop. I knew immediately I wanted to use them on some Hip Kit Club leafy cut files. Above is how they turned out.. so gorgeous! But they sat there piled on my desk for a week without any direction. I soon remembered that I had felt challenged to use a black background for an upcoming layout. And so it went… The leaves were inked/painted/splattered with these Shimmerz products: Vibez Egg Noggin’ + Texturez Mari-Gold Digger + Coloringz Moody Mauve + Dazzlers Coral Me Crazy *You can use coupon code Rachel15 at checkout to get a discount on these products!
Hint: I left the cuts on my Silhouette mat as I painted (and used my heat gun to dry each layer) to help prevent curling.
To begin my layout I backed my photo with a glassine bag and some ephemera from the Gather collection. I knew I wanted to mix in the leaves included in the ephemera pack to balance out the colorful painted ones. After I played around with placement a little, I stitched all of the leaves in place. I then added a few Thickers from Pink Paislee’s Take Me Away collection – including my title. Underneath the heart I bunched up some string for a little dimension. The “happy place” chipboard is also from the Gather collection. I love how it looks on top of that postcard ephemera. To finish off my layout, I added a few gold embellishments.
I love fall so much! I really can’t get enough of colors that remind me of this changing season. I hope you’ll challenge yourself on a project soon! Thanks for stopping by.
Hello friends, Katty here to share another 12×12 Scrapbooking Layout. I am so in love with this months mood board for The Pretty Patterned Paper Playground. I decided to use it again. I am scrapbooking three photos of my adorable nephew who just turned 6 last month. The green in his shirt matched this mood board perfectly.
I began with a sheet of patterned paper which was a lime green color with colored yarn balls. I had actually pulled that paper out to use for an “Ugly Paper” Challenge in another group. I realized that some of the colors matched this mood board very well. I used a 1 inch punch and punched out the red, orange and white yarn balls. I scattered them around the right side of a white 12×12 cardstock. To bring in some yellow I used a Crafters Workshop stencil called Cosmic Bubbles with my beautiful Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Lemon Drop. My idea was for it to look like scattered confetti.
I then used my Dazzlers in Sour Apple and added triangles of color with a Prima tiny checkerboard stencil. I added 3 triangles which will be the resting place for my photos. I added a simple mat behind my photos using some yellow and red doodlebug tiny doilies.
I then scattered around some of the White Felt Fetti Hearts, some pieces I cut out from the Kaisecraft FInders Keepers paper pad and some sequins. For the sequins I took white ones from the Fairytale 2 Sequins, small red ones from the Believe In You Sequins and yellow ones from the Spring Blooms Sequins.
I did some fuax stitching around some of the circles as well with an orange Papermate Pen. For my tittle I used Burlap Thickers in the Eric font. I love how it turned out.

Here’s my layout to celebrate International Scrapbooking Day!! This was by far the fussiest layout I’ve done in a long time. I used a Jillibean Soup die cut background and filled all those lovely circles with the new 6X6″ Pink Fresh Studio Felicity collection. That was the fussy part!! I also created a few little shaker pockets within my layout with the Spring Blooms & Silver Stars Sequins. I created these little sequin pockets using recycled clear packaging and popped up the entire layout using craft foam. After I cut all the paper circles, the rest of the layout came together very quickly.
I hope you enjoyed my fussy cutting and sequin shaker inspiration today! Now you’re on to the fabulous Laura’s blog!
