Hi Guys! Laura here today. I was having an episode of ‘scrappers block’… only one thing to do – find a layout that inspires me and CASE it! I turned to my Sparklers team-mate Yulia, and this is what happened.
Oh boy! I had fun with the metallic shiny paints and mists on this one!! I used a combination of paints, Heidi shines, spray mists and Shimmerz paints to achieve my background. Whilst I had the mists out I dyed a doily too.
I coloured some wood veneer stars in a bright blue. When matting my photo I wanted some more of this blue. Not having anything in my stash that matched I painted some card with the mist so it matched perfectly.
Hi Friends, Laura here today. I was inspired by a recent layout from our very own Jody. She had made a segmented shaker pocket, and this is my take on that…
I don’t have a fuse – my tool of choice is usually a sewing machine – but this time I opted for card and foam tape to divide my pocket in to three sections.
I used plenty of SpiegelMom Scraps products, and I’ll point them out as we look through the close ups. I placed a doily underneath my title – it gives the title a nice place to sit whilst adding subtle detail and texture.
My string of bunting is made with yellow bakers twine and secured with a couple of mini clothes pegs. I didn’t like the plain wood with the yellow so I coloured the pegs with a gold pen.
My flair needed something underneath to make it pop, so I made a nest of black thread. Having used the thread on one area I repeated it in two others to pull the whole layout together. I love the pops of black to add contrast.
I finished off my title with a sprinkling of sequins – this brought the yellow and gold to the left hand side of the page.
I have made a process video to go along with this layout…
Happy NSD! It’s Laura and I am interrupting the celebrations to share my regular Saturday post with you – but don’t worry – it is a layout!
I’ve been experimenting with the white felt feathers. I wanted to know if they would take colour – they do! I sprayed the feathers with water and sprinkled on some brusho powders. I needed a lot of water to get the colour moving but I love the results. Now I know I can alter any of the white felt shapes to any colour to match whichever project I am working on.
I dyed these ones to match my budgie’s feathers – yellows, greens and a little blue in the long tail feather. The different sized yellow sequins in the Spring Blooms and Sunny Smiles mixes match in perfectly. Other than that I kept it fairly simple layering each feather over a piece of cotton ribbon tape and stitching with my sewing machine to attach to the layout.
I added my alphas directly to my photo and popped up the top of each letter with a little silicone glue. I love the extra dimension this gives the page.
This also fits the criteria for my challenge to you over the weekend – scrap a layout with ribbon. If you do you can join us at SpiegelMom Scraps facebook page to link up!
