Gratitude Friday -Grace

Happy Friday, friends!

Today I’m talking about a fun layout inspired by thankfulness and grace. Fall encourages me to breath in the crisp air and slow down a little. I took the photo in this layout while on a church retreat at a monastery. Talk about experiencing slowed-down stillness.

#spiegelmomscraps #sequins #shimmerzpaints #cratepaper #amytangerine #gold #pinkpaislee #scrapbooking #papercrafting #scrapbook @wordsandpaperscraps @ShimmerzPaints @SpiegelMom_Scraps @PinkPaislee @CratePaper

I started with white cardstock and splattered some Shimmerz Coloringz in Moody Mauve across the middle section of my page. I then added some scraps of wood grained papers horizontally with the paint.

#spiegelmomscraps #sequins #shimmerzpaints #cratepaper #amytangerine #gold #pinkpaislee #scrapbooking #papercrafting #scrapbook @wordsandpaperscraps @ShimmerzPaints @SpiegelMom_Scraps @PinkPaislee @CratePaper

I stamped some plus signs in silver before I layered some Crate Paper “Gather” ephemera underneath my picture, along with some Pink Paislee “C’est La Vie” ephemera. I was a little hesitant to mix that teal with the mauve but I love how it turned out. I also really love the gold accents from those collections.

After I had my picture where I wanted, I began embellishing – my favorite part! I used some cork confetti and sequins from the shop, along with some wood veneer stars stamped silver + some gold enamel dots.

I finished off my layout with some stitching, the perfect finishing touch! I hope this layout has inspired you to seek grace and gratitude during this beautiful time of the year. Be on the look out for some new releases in the shop. I can’t speak for every DT member but I will certainly be including some gorgeous new products in my next project.

P.S. I did a brave (and scary!) thing and ventured into the world of filming process videos. You can check this quick video out here.

Make It Yours Monday

Hello Everybody and thank you for joining me for another Make It Yours Monday! I have a really fun and colorful layout for you today that I was totally inspired to create after seeing a circus themed party collection at my local party store!! I knew I had to use this photo of my oldest daughters kindergarten class’s “Clowning Around” spirit day from last year.

9-25-footer

I started, as I usually do, with a piece of American Crafts Textured White Cardstock. I splattered the background with Pretty In PinkHeidi Ho Blue, and Pink Stilettos coloringz from Shimmerz. I marked out where my photo will be and then used my Heidi Swapp Confetti Stencil to create the stars. I used the Dreamscicle and Lemon Drop dazzlerz through the stencil. I didn’t clean the stencil between colors, allowing some of it to mix and create a new color!

9-25-2

While I was waiting for the background to dry, I started on my photo layers. Using scraps from stash, I used the colors from the photo to help me choose the colors for the papers. I misted a white doily from the shop with the 2 pink mists I used on the background to create a pink one and layered them with the photo cluster also.

9-25-3

When the background was dry, I adhered the photo cluster to the page. I outlined each of the strips the photo is on with my black pen and added my journaling,  Chunky Cork Stars were the first fun embellishments I added around the page in clusters. Wood Veneer stars joined the cork, as well as some of the pretty yellow and teal sequins from the Believe In You sequin mix. I broke out some of my new colors of Nuvo drops and added some dots into the mix. I added the title “Class Clowns” to my photo and I was done! This is such a FUN and COLORFUL layout, inspired by a PLATE!!!

9-25-1

So, Look around this week, at colors, patterns, anything and take it to a page. Make It Yours. And come back next time to join me for another MAKE IT YOURS MONDAY!!!

AND, dont forget, you can use LISA15 and get 15% off all of the beautiful products in the shop, including all the pretties I used today!!!

Make It Yours Monday

make it yours monday

9-19-w-footer

I’m SO excited to be back with another Make It Yours Monday!!! This week’s layout is special to me! It’s an original sketch, my first ever!!!

my-sketch

My layout was inspired by my living room photo display…

6955265e59c16152d8cc5cb6613e36e7

I Started with a piece of wood grain paper from Simple Stories. I cut out the center and backed my photo with the inside piece. I layered a Medium Glassine Bag under the matted photo and then layered another piece of wood grain paper as the final mat.  I adhered 3 Normandy Doilies, cut in half, to the top and bottom of the matted photo for some texture.

14316835_10210356250123577_7387649189751259866_n

I set aside the photo cluster and began to work on my background. I cut down a piece of white American Crafts cardstock to about 10×10 and splattered some Shimmerz Coloringz in  Heidi Ho Blue and Pretty in Pink across the center as well as some Gold Heidi Shine.

Next, I moved onto the messier (my favorite) part. I started with some Spun Sugar Dazzlers and Rose Gold glitter paste from Bo Bunny. I used a burlap stencil from Tim Holtz and created my 3 areas of mixed media. After it was dry, I edged the white paper with Walnut Stain Distress ink.

14359224_10210356205642465_6566022140248507998_n

From there, I adhered my matted photo to the center of the page. I tucked a shipping tag into the bag layer behind my photo for my journaling.

Then, the FUN stuff! The embellishment’s for this layout were so fun! I used a scrap strip of the wood grain paper to make a cluster just above the photo and attached a scrap of doily left over from the other cut pieces from earlier.  This cluster also got some of the awesome Cloudy Day Felties and a Cork Star that I added some dot details to make it look like a starfish! Some green sequins from the pretty mix A Day In The Woods and some blue from the beautiful Lets Be Mermaids mix finished off this cluster.

14344870_10210356207802519_6405759811220375378_n

I added some more Cork Stars, again with the dot details, to the bottom left of the photo with some sequins from the same mixes and a wood veneer star. The top right corner also got the same fun little details. I added my title right to the photo and I was done!

14358816_10210356206802494_6707615841973686896_n  14370247_10210356207442510_6605754924433721064_n

I cant even get over how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Layout!!! I’m so glad you joined me this week for Make It Your’s Monday because this really does show you how inspiration can come from ANYWHERE or ANYTHING!!!

Tuesday Talent

Tuesday's Talent

Hi everyone, Mandi here for your Tuesday Talent series. Today, I will be focusing on the Natural Burlap String Navy Blue Burlap String Gold Sequin Confetti and Silver Stardust Sequin Confetti products. The pattern paper I used on this card was from Fancy Pants “Good Fellows” collection. All of these are going to be used on a fun shaker card, which just happens to work for a guy’s birthday. We all know it is hard to make a fun guy card.

Collages

The shaker frame was so easy to make.

  1.  Adhered a piece of plastic (I used a piece of a page protector) to the backside of the chipboard frame.
  2.  Attached foam tape (I didn’t have any so I used foam squares) alone the four edge.
  3. Place sequins inside.
  4. Stamp image/sentiment to pattern paper that is the same size as frame
  5. adhere backing to frame.

DSCN4905

To adhere the cork shapes, I applied adhesive to them with the x sticker maker from Xyron. I then laid the the cork stickers on top of the string, this acted as a tape to attached the string.

DSCN4910

Thanks for stopping by and I hoped I showed you that sequins / shaker boxes can be used on guy cards.

Play: Process Video with Khristina

Hi Everybody! I am SO very excited to be back this week at SpiegelMom Scraps with my second Guest Designer project for the month of July. I am having a blast working with these amazingly fun products and I hope that I have inspired you to give them a try too!

Today, I am going to share a layout and process video using a few different collections and embellishments as well as a cut file that I created to make “fake” shaker pockets so much easier and faster!! What’s even better is I have included my basic title cut file below so that you can try it out too! You can find the process video by clicking here.

image_22dca126-381e-4d1b-b951-9f2e84dc8ab1_large image_8732f8f2-cbb7-436b-be57-5e07f83850a2_large

One of my favorite uses for all of these beautiful sequins is to create shaker pockets combined with cut files. The two elements naturally work well together and create a fun and unique detail on your page. The problem is that cut files and shaker pockets and can be messy and a lot of work. So….today I am showing you a way to make it a little easier and faster to get the same look.

Without further ado, here is my completed project and some close-ups as well as some helpful hints. Make sure to check out the process video as well as it gives more of a step-by-step guide to what I did to create this look.

Khristina GD Post
Khristina Guest Designer Project

By creating two layers with my cut file, I was able to cut the outline of the letters on regular white cardstock and then the filled version of the letters with sticker paper (cut thru my Silhouette upside down just like in the video—yellow side upJ ) This allowed the sticky side to be facing upward and easily adhered those sequins and details. I added a piece of clear transparency between the sticker paper layer and the cardstock outline layer and voila….the look of a shaker pocket with simple steps and sequins that won’t move around and pool up at the bottom of the letters!!

IMG_7210 IMG_7209 IMG_7211

From the SpiegelMom Scraps Store, I worked with two different sequin packages: Amy’s Sprinkles and Hot Right Now. I also used the Normandy 4 inch white doilies which I colored on the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink in Mermaid Lagoon. The last component that I incorporated from SpiegelMom Scraps was the super fun Felt-Fetti Hearts.

Make sure to click below to try out the PLAY title cut file. Make sure to share your project with me if you use the cut file to create one. Also, make sure to check out the process video that goes with this layout by clicking here.  I will be back next week with another fun project!  Happy Crafting!!

Up North Layout and Process Video with Khristina

Hi Everybody! I am SO very excited to be here at SpiegelMom Scraps as the Guest Designer for the month of July. The month started off with a bang with the new releases on July 1st including six amazing new sets of sequin mixes. Today, I am going to share a layout and process video using one of those collections, A Day in the Woods, which is shown here:

A Day in the Wood
A Day in the Wood

One of my favorite uses for all of these beautiful sequins is to create shaker pockets combined with cut files. The two elements naturally work well together and create a fun and unique detail on your page. This collection coordinates perfectly with SO many of the new summer collections including both Bo Bunny’s new Take a Hike Noteworthy Collection and the new Pink Paislee Outfitters collection. My layout combined some elements from both of those collections.

Without further ado, here is my completed project and some close-ups as well as some helpful hints.

July 2016 Guest Designer Layout

From the SpiegelMom Scraps Store, I worked with the A Day in the Woods sequin mix as well as the Cork-Fetti Hearts and the Fuse Tool. I picked up some 3×4 Project Life Pockets and used those along with my Fuse Tool to create three small shaker pockets where I mixed in some sequins along with some of the mini cork hearts.

IMG_7082

IMG_7084

I have the larger cork hearts added to the embellishment clusters to tie it all together. One big hint for making those shaker pockets work with the cut file is to back the cut file with patterned pattern and then with some foam adhesive or Fun Foam which adds some natural dimension that you can use to allow the shaker pockets room to fit.

IMG_7087

There are loads of hints and suggestions in the process video that I have over on my You Tube Channel to coordinate with this project. You can find that video here. I would love to see what you create with the A Day in the Woods sequin mix and hope that you will share with us here at SpiegelMom Scraps. I will be back next week with another fun project!

Happy Crafting!!

Hi all, Lea’s here :today’s proposal is a couple of ATC  very easy and fast to say “thank you”.
I cut from cardboard two ATC (6.35 cm x 8.89) and I proceeded to each of the two in a very similar way. With the cotton thread I created an irregular circle and on it I applied the little stars of different colors and sizes giving the feeling of a small wreath; in the center I placed a wooden heart.
I have handwritten “thank you” and finally I splashed the color matched with the thread of the garland.
This project is very simple and quick to make a small thank-you card to accompany a gift or just to say “thank you”

Fathers Day Card with Katty Miranda

Cards, tags

Hello friends! Katty Miranda here to share a simple and fun Fathers Day Card. If you are reading this on the day it goes live and you happen to be a father then Happy Fathers Day and Happy Fathers Day to all of the special Fathers in your lives. I made this card for my boyfriend. He is a huge football fan and an amazing father. I began with a brown 12×12 cardstock. I cut it down to about 5×7 and used a Hexagon Memento embossing folder with my Texture Boutique to create some texture on the background of my card. I then cut it in the shape of a football. It isn’t perfect but I love how it turned out. I also cut some strips for the sides and faux stitching out of white cardstock. I then took some of the white flat back sequins from the Fairytale 2 Sequins and glued them over the white strips on the sides, I also layered the Gold Stardust Sequins over the white ones. I took two of the Chunky Cork Stars and placed them on the top left and bottom right of the card. I layered a gold star from the Fairytale 2 Sequins and a small mint green sequin form the Mint Chip Sequins on top of the cork stars.

113FullSizeRender

To add my tittle I used some Maggie Holmes Gold Puffy letters from her Shine Collection. I also added a white cardstock layer on the inside so that I could write on the card.

This was a fun, simple card to make. I hope you’l  give this a try. It was simple and I love the end result. I hope my boyfriend loves it.

June’s Special Guest is….

11

…..SpiegelMom herself!!  Hey everyone, Jody here today and I’m your guest designer this lovely month of June!  I thought it would be fun in preparation for the SpiegelMom Scraps 6 year anniversary month in July to hang out on the blog more this month so you can get to know me better.

So, here’s a little about me!  I’m Jody!  I’m a full time workin’ Mama with a super busy family life and some crazy kiddos!  I’ve been a crafter since I was a little girl and but really dove into this hobby in about 2003.  I went to my first Stampin Up! workshop with my BFF Jenn and was hooked.  From there I quickly fell in love with scrapbooking and never looked back.  I was an independent consultant for Memory Works from 2006 until they closed their doors in 2013.  I was on their Design Team and loved so many things about that company!

In 2010 I started SpiegelMom Scraps and ran my business on Etsy for several years, connecting with so many wonderful crafters all over the world!  From there, I was one of the founders of Clique Kits and fell even more in love with this hobby.  My time were was an amazing journey.  Last February I stepped down as I had to move forward with many things in my family life and SMS. Now, things are busy as ever and I’m looking forward to this summer!

My family will be moving this summer and I’m very excited to get into our new home!  I can’t wait to set up my craft studio, video filming & photography area and the kids craft area!!  Besides my kitchen, that area will be my favorite place in our home!  I’ll give you a tour after it’s done!

Ok my friends, enough about me for today and on with my layout!  Today I’m sharing one of a few layouts I created with the Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection.  I used the pretty ombre teal background as my base and cut a bunch of those beautiful butterflies from The Cut Shoppe!  I’ve really been trying to stretch my papers lately and cut files make it so easy!!  This awesome file is from the Love Everlasting cut file collection, which you can find here. I think my favorite thing about the butterflies is how the cut file compliments the stained glass in my photo.

I used this lovely cut file to compliment the entire feel of the photo & layout. Besides that, I wanted to emphasize the word ‘you’ so I painted on some Dazzlerz texture paste in Coral Me Crazy and love how it turned out!

Here’s a close up of the glassine bag sequin pocket I created as a photo matte. I love how the glassine bag softens the sequins just enough ❤️

Smile tag by Lea

Hello everyone … Lea here to offer you a very merry tag to give to those we care about and who we want to draw a smile.
I painted a large shipping tag with black gesso, once dry I embossed it completely with white embossing powder from a beautiful alphabet of Tim Holtz.
I then proceeded to do as I like. I created a layering with patterned paper, doily, twine, alternating different thicknesses.

I completed with sequins,  hearts and stars in felt  .

Brotherly Love Layout with Katty

11

Hello friends. Katty here to share a 12×12 Scrapbooking Layout. I am scrapping three pictures of my boys. These pictures were taken recently. I began with white cardstock and a Crafters Workshop stencil called Switchback. I used the Shimmerz Dazzlers from the Spiegelmom Scraps shop. I created strips of color using the Dazzlers in Sea U in the Mornin’Sour Apple Green, and Lemon Drop Yellow. I mixed in some navy blue acrylic paint with the Sea U in the Mornin’ and created two different blues. I then cut out the strips and cut the design into squares. I placed the squares in a random diamond like pattern on a piece of white cardstock. I matted my photos with dark gray cardstock. I placed my photos across the center of the page and added three of the awesome Cork Chevrons on either side of the photos. FullSizeRender-3 FullSizeRender-4

I also backed the whole layout on a yellow polka dot patterned paper from the Studio Calico Lemon Lush Collection. I used Heidi Swapp Navy glitter foam thickers for my tittle and I also used Amy Tangerine turquoise thickers to write out the year. I added home made enamel dots in coordinating colors over the squares. To finish it off I used a blue metalic American Crafts marker to add faux stitching around my “diamond” of squares.

FullSizeRender-2 copy

Thanks so much for stopping by. See you next Sunday. XOXO -Katty

Star tags by Lea

Hi beautiful people, Lea here…I made a set of three mini shipping tags.

tagstarsI colored with black gesso the tag, once dry I used Shimmerz paste through a stencil. With a punch in a star shape I cut a piece of square  pattern paper to which I added a little thick: inside the star-shaped hole I “designed” with glue a star making to join the tiny gold sequins. To accentuate this sparkling point I created a circular shape with the twine wrapping it several times. Then I added the title, some other tiny gold sequins and beautiful silvery starlets.
These tags are very simple and very easy to make but very bright for sure.

“Take a picture” ATCs set by Lea

Hi all, Lea’s here… I found a new small passion and it’s  for ATCs. Classic cards have always made me a kind of creative emptiness, but  it does not happen with the ATCs, not at all! I’m really enjoying it and this week I made two on the theme “Take a picture”.

takeapic2

I still used white canvas on which I spread a layer of clear medium gel.The first layer I did is a stenciled one: i use a bright Shimmers paint, Dreamscicle; I continued with some watercolor paint. When  dried I use several stamps and washi tape.

saydet1 smiledet1

On each of the ATCs I created a focal point using various levels of patterned paper, I added  some twineand on the top two wooden cameras from Studio Calico. I also added some sequins from Jack O Lantern mix ( perfect for Hallowen, but it fits perfectly with my color combo!). Finally the little titles: I stamped two different labels on the same patterned paper and then, on each, I attached “smile” and “say cheese” made with Dymo. … I wrappedevery label  with the colored thread, I added below the thickness and I have applied on each card.

Shine card by Lea

Hello everyone … Lea here. This week I made a card.

card

I made it  canvas treated with white gesso; Once dry, I used watercolors to create a first color level. I continued using stencils and  Shimmerz paint, Sea U in the morning and Licorice stick: colors are beautiful, bright and sparkling like a silk satin fabric. To completely dry the color I shortened the time by using heat gun. Then I started to build the card by assembling all the elements: first, I took a white doily depriving it of the inner circle and thereby creating a frame to the large black felt star surrounded by wire, also black, simulating a doodle done in pen .I added other elements such as the adhesive strip made with dymo where the word “star” is repeated many times; the star shape, made with a punch, which is repeated irregularly and I then cut out leaving a margin of a few mm; the word “shine” stamped. Finally I added, to give further touches of light, beautiful sequins from  Magical Ocean: a bright pink and a deep and iridescent blue, and two sizes of silver stars. Finally some black splashes and liquid pearl.
