Oh My Gourd!

Hey y’all, Ali here! Okay…did October sneak up on anyone else? Wow! Here it is! Everyone’s favorite time of the year. I have a layout today all about one of my favorite fall things…gourds! This month all of the Sparklers are documenting about leaves and fall and all of our favorites! Hope you will keep coming by to check it out!

We always go to a nearby farm for the fall events. One of my favorites is the archways with hanging gourds (this is a fave and a fear, I am always terrified one may just drop on my head at any moment! HA!). I love fall colors, and I also love how some lines are using non traditional colors, like teals to document fall. That is where I based this layout. I used Echo Park’s collection, Fall is in the Air, because it has some fun blues! So I also really wanted a good excuse to use the Aquarius sequins, which have become a fast favorite! I love the blues and the pops of orange from those tiny little flowers! I also added in some Just Beachin’ It sequins, because those browns and greens were perfection for this photo!

As much as I love this season, it is really busy -with school starting and activities! It can be hectic. For me, scrapping is therapy. Whether I get to sit and glue for hours, or just ten minutes, I need that time. I loved creating this layout, because it was quick and fun! A couple of watercolor splatters and some layering behind my photo. I think the sequins pull it all together, like scattered leaves across the layout! What are some of your favorite ways to document fall?

Don’t forget the sequins!

Beach Rainbow with Ali

Hello scrappy friends! I have to tell you guys, when the theme this month was first announced, I was nervous. I don’t know much about art, or being an artist. I like to create, but is it really the same thing? So I started looking for inspiration…and guess what? Ideas started flowing! I love being inspired by something new, and this was just the mojo kick I needed. As I was looking for paintings that inspired me, I found that something else happened, I started to become inspired by the styles and techniques, just as much as the finished work. Just like in scrapbooking, for me, sometimes it is more about the process. One technique that really stuck out to me is pointillism! I love the look of a bunch of small dots coming together to create an image. Then it dawned on me, I could do pointillism, but with sequins!! So I set off to create my masterpiece…I knew I wanted to do a layout about the gorgeous rainbow we saw at the beach. So I started trying to create a sequin rainbow, which I will not show you because it ended in disaster. My 6 year old’s response was “that looks crazy mama.” He has good judgement, so I scrapped that, or…um…I trashed it, and moved on. I decided to fully embrace the beach motif instead. I started with some corky hearts in the bottom corner and had a sequin wave crashing against them!I really love how this turned out. I used Pandora’s Ombre for the blues, and Wedding Bells for the white. I love how the Wedding Bells mix also has some little silver stars and different sizes, it really adds to the texture!

I knew that with such a huge statement on the page, I didn’t need to do much more than a title and some journaling…but let’s not forget about photos! So I took my photos and cut them into letters for my title-crazy right? I actually love how that came out. I used one photo of the rainbow and a few beach pics for my title. I backed them with some patterned paper from Pink Paislee Summer Lights. I also included another shot of the rainbow and some journaling about our trip! I few embellishments from Summer Lights and a sprinkle of the brand new (and stunning) Painted Gardens sequins and I called it quits…because frankly, this layout was a LOT of work! I am a fast scrapper, a layout usually takes me 30 minutes (typically broken into 3, 10 minute sittings!) but this took me a couple hours! Yikes! So worth it though!

Have you checked out all of the new release sequins? Jody and Lisa designed them, and oh my wow! They are sparkler-tastic! Also, the shop has a bunch of clearance items right now, and there may even be some cork left too!

September Blog Hop | New Sequins!!

@spiegelmomscraps, #spiegelmomscraps #americancrafts #sequins #sequinsmixes #diy #projectlife #create #scrapbooking #scrapbook

Hello and welcome to this month’s Sparklers Design Team sequin release blog hop!  Whew, that was kind of a mouth full!  I’m extra excited this month because DT Sparkler Lisa Kingston had a beautiful vision, and that was to create some sequin mixes inspired by some of her favorite artwork!  So naturally I said, “Go for it!”  I must say, she’s done a fabulous job on these mixes, which are shown below my layout 🙂

Here’s my layout created with some of my favorite American Crafts cardstock, a stunning copper embossed floral paper from an American Crafts collection, Shimelle phrase thickers (hello and lovely), Shimmerz Quit Yer Winen’, and the fabulous new On Pointe sequin mix (only I picked out all the little metallic copper ones!!)  I did a ton of fussy cutting for this, obviously.  I cut out every flower from that stunning coppery embossed paper and it was SSSOOO worth it!  I did some light mixed media work on the background, using the muted purplish Shimmerz Quite Yer Winen‘.  I added some dark purplish tread in a few spots and called it good!  I also used the sketch below by Stuck Sketches?! as my jumping point!!  I love the diagonal design.

@spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @shimellelaine @americancrafts @shimmerzpaints @amytangerine @maggieholmesdesign, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbooking #scrapbooklayout #papercraft #shimmerzpaints #amytangerine #thickers #sequins #smssequins

Below are the pieces of artwork which inspired Lisa to choose the sequin colors .  All of this month’s sequins are above and the inspiration pairings are just below!

Now here’s you Sparklers Design Team line up for this hop!

JUST LOVELY

Hello hello everyone!  The layout I am bringing you today is of my two grandchildren at the train museum, which they totally enjoyed.  Spending time with these two is a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong there is some discipline involved, well not much.  They are pretty good with their Nana and I truly adore being with them and they visit I just hate to say goodbye.

With that said today is my last post with the Spiegelmom Design Team.  I had so much fun with Jody and the gals on the team and I so want to do it again in the near future.  All of the products that are in the shop are amazing and if you have not ordered yet, I don’t know what your waiting for… you are missing out on the best sequin mixes, texture paste, cork die cuts, felt die cuts, and many other goodies.  I enjoyed using all of them on my layouts and with this layout, I used a lot of the goodies from the shop on it as well.  So let’s get started!

I used some the Dazzlerz, in “Coral Me Crazy” texture paste to make the small textured circles. The sequins I used are called Passion Flower, which I spread across the top of my layout and I also used a doily from the shop. Love this!

Here is a close up of the texture paste in Coral Me Crazy and the stencil I used is from Hero Arts.

The sequins are just fabulous!  Love this mixture of the Passion Flower mixture. The paper circles are punched out of some paper from my stash.

The wood veneer is from a Studio Calico kit from a while ago.

Here is a close up of the sequins again.  The tissue circles are from an older Felicity Jane kit.

I thought I would do some hidden journaling, which I used a glassine bag as one of the layers so I can slide the journal card right under the photo by a tap that I stapled onto a 3×4 journal card.  This is something you can do with your layout if you have a lot of embellishments covering it.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I also want to thank all of you who have left such wonderful comments each time I posted a layout.  This has been one of the best teams I have ever been on and I am going to miss it.  Take care all of you and don’t forget to support Spiegelmom Scraps by stopping by the shop and placing your oder today.  You can use Felicia15 till the end of the month for 15% off your order.  Bye bye everyone!

MOMENTS

Hello hello everyone!  I just love getting down on the ground to take photos of a subject up close.  As a photographer, this is one of the must do’s in order to capture that once in a life time master piece, well at least in my eyes, Lol.  So what I did was I got down on the ground for this photo of my granddaughter who decided to pose for me and I love it!  She was so good at it that I kept going later with other photos of her.  If you are a photographer or just like taking photos, whether is getting up high or down on the ground, taking the perfect photo is just something that only happens once in a life time, so cherish those photos that you take and when you look back you will probably ask yourself, ” How did I do that” and then comes the story.

Take a look at this layout, where I was able to use two different kinds of sequins, Pandora’s Ombre and Magical Day in the Park, both are from the Spiegelmom Scraps shop to highlight the colors in the papers and the outfit my granddaughter is wearing.

I used the Amy Tan “Oh Happy Day” collection and yes I still have a lot of it left.  I love it because of its colors. Here is a close up of the sequins Magical Day in the Park. These are my all time favorite sequins.

I also used the Pandora’s Ombre to put in the center of the die cut flowers.

I did the same for this flower, which is partly on the photo and sprinkled some at the top of the layout.  These sequins make the perfect center for a flower!

Then I used some of the wash tape that came with the collection and used it as a border edge around the white cardstock and some on the cardstock.

I just love how these sequins match the papers!  Thanks for stopping by and be sure to get to the Spiegelmom Scraps shop for your own goodies and you can use the code Felicia15 to receive a 15% discount on your oder!  Have a wonderful day everyone!

Lucky

Hey there!  It’s Laura Whitaker with you and I am super excited to be guesting here this month! Today I am sharing a layout that features a photo of my youngest son  and documents how he was born on St. Patrick’s day.  But I wanted to do it without doing an actual birthday page.

So I created a shamrock background cut file and pulled in some patterned papers with softer rainbow colours as well as some SpiegelMom Scraps Pandora’s Ombre sequins, Green Acres sequins, What’s Up Buttercup sequins which coordinate perfectly with my paper choices.

As a first step, I added some green distress ink through a wood grain stencil and some white texture paste through the same stencil to add a bit of interest to my base paper, prior to layering on the cut file.

Parts of the cut file were backed with patterned papers and some were backed with clear plastic so that I could insert sequins behind them.  On the layout I created for the March SpiegelMom Scraps blog hop, I shared how to make sequin shaker elements a design feature on a background.  For this page I wanted to do something similar but different, this page does not need dimensional adhesive to achieve the look.  You can see how to recreate this look by watching my process video, on my You-Tube channel.

I tucked this little wood veneer frame behind my photo making it another layer.  As an after thought I stitched words into it and I am so glad I did I love the look!  The frame is from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop.

I have had this large foam Thicker word in my stash for quite some time now, I am so glad that I was finally able to use it as it is perfect for this page!

I used some of the SpiegelMom Scraps “I Cork U” Hearts to create a shamrock that I layered over my title.  I love the way it looks and that I was able to use my goodies in a variety of ways!

I also used large cork hearts to create a larger shamrock, onto which I have layered a flair.

My third embellishment cluster also uses cork (I like the repetition) but this time in the form of a cloud shape. The cloud is from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop as well and is called “Corky Cumulus”.  A die cut sun, a fun flair and some more sequins round out the cluster nicely.  As a last step I added in some black rub ons (super old from my stash) I think they balance the black title out nicely.

As I mentioned, I have a process video for this layout,  you can watch it on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List:  SpiegelMom Scraps  I cork U hearts, corky cumulus, white doily, glassine bag; Pandora’s Ombre sequins, Green Acres sequins, What’s Up Buttercup sequins; Amy Tangerine wood frame from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop; Accent Scrapbooking flair; Amy Tangerine patterned paper;  American Crafts vellum and cardstock;  Amy Tangerine “today” word sticker; Imaginisce rub-ons; Sharpie[; Ranger Texture Paste; Tim Holtz mask: Tim Holtz distress ink (peeled paint); Tim Holtz stencil;  Tattered Angels mist (splash); Smooch Spritz mist (yellow); Mr. Huey’s mist (taxi); misc. ticket.

Thanks for visiting and don’t forget to use coupon code 15LAURA to get 15% off of your order until the end of March! I will be back next week to share another layout with you!

MR RAD

Hello again my scrappy friends!  Here with a layout featuring my grandson again and his many faces and acts that constantly keeps me in stitches…lol!  He is a character and in this photo, it shows some of what he loves to do.  I remember when my children were small and some of  things they did were not funny to me at that time.  Now that I have grandchildren, everything they do is hilarious!  I don’t understand it, but I think its funny.  That is why some people are more happy being grandparents than parents…lol.

Below is used a couple of products from the Spiegelmom Scraps shop.  Take a look!

IMG_4494

I used some canvas tags that have been in my stash forever it seems like.  The paper is from October Afternoon, an older collection.

IMG_4492

You can see the Cork Confetti from the Spiegelmom Shop up close.  Boy do I love how that came out.  Also the chip board is from Crate Paper Cool Kid collection.

IMG_4491

The sequins are called Magical Day In The Park by the Spiegelmom Scraps and I have been using these like crazy on my layouts so much, I am going to need a replacement pack soon.

IMG_4490

Ahhhh these are so nice and I finally got them even!  Lol, I am know for not getting things even on my scrap pages..

IMG_448913667858_10210550703710459_4576055532417626394_o-1

For a last minute touch, I added these word strips in place of journaling not the layout from Tim Hotlz.  This saves me time and also the strips say everything I wanted to say in the journaling.

I want to thank you guys for stopping by today and be sure to use my code Felicia15 to receive 15% discount on your first order!  Be sure to stop by the Spiegelmom Shop and get your goodies today.  Bye for now!

Scraplift Sunday!

Hello everyone! This is Megan and I am SO excited to share this weeks layout with you!! I decided to scrap the talented Missy Whidden this week. Here’s the layout she made:

feb11scraplift

Don’t you just absolutely love it?!!! Here’s my take on the layout:

feb11scraplift1footer

I am having so much fun scrapbooking girly layouts of me and my sisters when we were little girls! I have 3 boys so I don’t get to do a whole lot of girly scrapbooking.

feb11scraplift2

I used an AC white textured cardstock for the background and the Paige Evans Take Me Away collection for the patterned papers. The flowers I fussy cut from one of her papers. I used a silver doily, May arts ribbon/string, A mermaid’s tail and Hearts on fire sequin mixes from the shop. I also used Shimmerz Paints Vibez Princess spray mist on the background.

feb11scraplift3

I really had so much fun making up these 2 clusters. I wanted to have the journaling hidden so I glued a mini glassine bag down to the background and put a large manila tag in it with the date and our names.

feb11scraplift4

I really love this homemade cut file that Hannah gave to me! Thanks again, Hannah!!

feb11scraplift5

I used the cute little I Heart U felties in white as well.

feb11scraplift8

Here’s the little tag with the embellishments and date on it. I really love how that turned out!

feb11scraplift9

feb11scraplift11

Scraplift Sunday with Crafty Meggy

Scraplift Sunday

Hello my fellow SMS lovers!! I hope you’re having a great weekend! It’s always so sad when it comes to an end, but I really do love having my laid back Sundays.

I have another Scraplift for you today. I love going through my Scrapliftable board on pinterest, but this past week I was actually on pinterest for a different project and I found this layout:

feb5Scraplift

I really love the 3 patterned papers in the background and I thought doing something like that would look good with a cut file on top of it.

Hey Honey

This is the free cut file for the month of february. You can get it here in the cut file section of the blog or click the image.

feb5scraplift1footer

This is the layout I ended up making. I am super happy with how it turned out!!

feb5scraplift2

This year I have decided to really take my weight loss up a gear. It’s always a goal of mine to lose weight every year, but I usually give up after a couple weeks. I started going to the gym again a couple weeks into January and I took a few photos of the first workout. It was a slow one, but I am really proud of myself for sticking with it and going! These photos document before, during and after my workout.

feb5scraplift3

I really love the new I Cork U and Love U Tons felties hearts in the shop. I layered them here in this cluster on top of a white lace doily and also used the Strawberry Bubblegum sequin mix.

feb5scraplift4

I used an older Dear Lizzy thickers alpha and put a cute little heart sequin to dot each of the i’s.

feb5scraplift5

I put my journaling and another cluster in the bottom right hand corner.

feb5scraplift6

I used a couple yellow sequins from the Pocket Full of Posies mix, as well as a mini glassine bag, 2 large manila tags and raspberry May arts string.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! You can watch my process video below on my YouTube channel. Make sure to use my code, Megan15, at checkout to receive 15% off your total order! Happy Scrapping!

So Loved – Early Valentine’s Post

#cratepaper #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #shimmerzpaints #mixedmedia #stitching #americancrafts #createwithsms #feltie #vellum #scrapbooking #papercrafting #valentinesDIY

Hey Friends!

You can probably tell by my layouts that I don’t have kids yet.. they generally only feature my husband and my dogs. I was inspired by this cozy picture of my husband and I to create a sweet layout just a few weeks early. Not to mention, there was a new sequin mix that I had fun plans for.

#cratepaper #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #shimmerzpaints #mixedmedia #stitching #americancrafts #createwithsms #feltie #vellum #scrapbooking #papercrafting #valentinesDIY

I knew I wanted to use strips of paper in combination with some paint streaks to create a vertical backdrop for my picture. I used a thick brush to paint the yellow and teal stripes. Once they dried, I chose the patterned paper + vellum I wanted to use too. I went with that bold paper from Dear Lizzy’s Saturday collection and paired it with some smaller patterned paper from my stash.

#cratepaper #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #shimmerzpaints #mixedmedia #stitching #americancrafts #createwithsms #feltie #vellum #scrapbooking #papercrafting #valentinesDIY

Once I had my paper in place I determined where I wanted my stitched sequin lines to go. This accent was my vision behind the entire layout! I used sequins from the shop (here + here). You can use this technique with any sequins as long as you adhere them down first. I think stitching over sequins creates a great finished look.

#cratepaper #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #shimmerzpaints #mixedmedia #stitching #americancrafts #createwithsms #feltie #vellum #scrapbooking #papercrafting #valentinesDIY

Once I had done this, I matted my picture on white and began playing around with my placement. I knew I wanted my picture to pop well and all of my embellishments to carry the vertical trend. Most embellishments are AC thickers

#dearlizzy #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #shimmerzpaints #mixedmedia #stitching #americancrafts #createwithsms #feltie #vellum #scrapbooking #papercrafting #valentinesDIY

I combined some alphas with “loved” to create my title and added a few white heart felties. I wanted to balance out the bright colors of the background with something more subtle.

I really love how this project turned out! I’m so happy with my decision to use a 9 x 12 project life album so 12 x 12 papers can easily be cut down and used for layouts like these. I hope you’ll try stitching some sequins. Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. You don’t want to miss our HUGE product swap blog hop tomorrow!

OUR HISTORY

Hello!  Well I am back again with a layout featuring one of my trips to the museum and I just had to do this photo. This is a 8 X 10 photo of one of the main trains that was on exhibit, which is a huge part of California history.  This particular train was a main transport in lumber, food, and other things needed to build California.  I was amazed at how big this train was and what materials they built it with, real iron!  The iron used to build this train was pure, which made for a seriously heavy train.

IMG_4359

I used some cork circles from my stash and some Gold Stardust sequins from the Spiegelmom Scraps shop.  Here a closer look!

IMG_4361

I just love how this came together!  I put some of the sequins by the title, which is perfect and the letters are from Freckled Fawn embellishment kit.

IMG_4362

Here is a closure look at a different angle.

IMG_4364

The papers I used on this layout are from Simple Stories and the enamel dots are from My Mind’s Eye.

Thank so much for stopping by and be sure to visit the Spiegelmom Scraps shop for some goodies of your own and be sure to use Felicia15 to receive 15% discount on your order!

Bloom Shaker Card with Katty Miranda

Hello everyone! Welcome back! Katty here to share a fun Shaker card. I began with a circular card floral cut file from the Silhouette Studio. I fell in love with this card the moment I saw it. I am drawn to anything floral.

I used White American Crafts Textured Cardstock to cut the file. I then used some of my Shimmerz Paints to color the flowers on the front of the card. I used Coloringz in Pink Stilettos, Peachy Keen and Mandarin Mai Tai. For the leaves I mixed a Coloringz in Don’t Citron Me and a Spritz in Bamboo Leaf.

FullSizeRender-65

I decided to add my sentiment behind the shaker area. I used a stamp set from Teresa Collins and Heat Embossed the word “Bloom” using white embossing powder. I then filled the shaker area with the Indian Summer Mix, which are beautiful orange sequins. I also aded a border around the card using the flatback green sequins from the A Day in the Woods Mix.

FullSizeRender-64

I love how this turned out. It just screams Spring.

There is a video on my channel if you’d like to watch.

Thanks so much for stopping by! XOXO -Katty

Today Layout with Katty Miranda

scrapbook-sessions

Hello friends! Katty here to share another 12×12 layout with you all. Today I am scrapbooking a photo of my boyfriend and I, I actually started out with another photo but as the layout progressed I decided to switch it out. The original photo was just too dark.

I began with White American Crafts Textured Cardstock as my background. I took one of the beautiful 8″ Chantilly White Lace Doilies and cut in into two parts, one a bit larger than the other. I added fun foam to the center to raise them up and give them some dimension  and placed them on opposite sides of my page, the smaller piece on the top left hand side and the bigger piece on the bottom right hand side. I used a purple twine and a mint green Jute and threaded it through the edges of the center of the doily.

  IMG_4677

I used some of my Shimmerz Paints mists in Peachy Keen, Heidi Ho Blue and Oh Say Can You Sea and with a brush added a few colors behind the doily. I also used the Peachy Keen and colored the center of the doily. I added a few splatters in the center area of the page.

IMG_4679 IMG_4678

I added two clusters of embellishments from my stash. I also added a few of the Love You Tons Felt Hearts in the clusters. I used an Amy Tangerine Kraft word thicker for my tittle. I scattered around the beautiful Sweet Pea Sequins  as well as the Morning Dew Drops.

IMG_4680

I placed my photo on top of the doily on the bottom right. I cut my picture in a circle shape to mimic the doily. I then used the Sweet Pea mix as a border around my picture.

IMG_4772

I love how it turned out. This was really fun to make. There is a process video on my channel if you’d like to watch.

Thanks so much for stopping by! XOXO -Katty

THE EMPIRE

Hello there everyone!  I had the privilege last month to visit the train museum and I lots of fun.  The last time I had been to this museum was on a field trip when my children were in the elementary level.  It has changed quite a bit since then and the exhibits are a lot bigger than the last time I remembered.   There was one train in particular that stood out because of the red wheels and trim on it, I just had to take a photo of this train and would not mind riding on it either! Lol!. There is a lot of California history and this train is part of it.  Take a look!

Love the color scheme of this layout, it matches the train photo perfectly!

IMG_4300

Here is a closer look at the new texture past from Shimmerz called Brick Wall and I love it!  It is the perfect shade of red and the texture is nice and rough, which made for the awesome intertwined swivels.  I used a stencil of course to achieve the symmetrical look of the swirls.

IMG_4303

Wow!  This is a really nice!  I enjoyed using the Brick Wall texturez paste, it reminds me a little bit of railroad tracks. The collection I used is the Simple Stories Live Life In Color, Love the color and it matches the train photo perfectly!

IMG_4306

The sequins are called Holly Berries, although this is not a christmas layout, you can still use the Spiegelmom Scraps sequins to decorate any page or pocket page layout.

IMG_4307

Just thought you might like to get a close up of the sequins!  I just love them and Jody does an awesome job of mixing the sequins.  There are so many to choose from and you won’t be disappointed either!

IMG_430413667858_10210550703710459_4576055532417626394_o-1

I want to thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the layout.  If you want you can use my discount code Felicia15 and you can receive 15% discount on your first order!  So what are you waiting for? Click on the button above and get your own sequins!  Have a wonderful day!
