Tuesday’s Talent with Kelly

Hello again! I am back with my last post as the October guest designer and for today’s layout I am focusing on the gorgeous Sugar Maple sequins. I fell in love with these the moment that I saw them and really wanted to create a page showcasing these gorgeous sequins.

To begin, I stitched in messy circles on cardstock in gold thread. Once I decided where my photo and the large embellishment cluster would be placed, I the sequins around the stitching making sure to space out the various colors. To adhere the sequins I used Ranger Multi Matte Medium on the smaller sequins and glue dots on the leaves.

Glorious Days Vibez is a gorgeous shade of gold and was the perfect addition on the page. I sprinkled a bit on the background and the die cuts to add further depth to the page.

If you are interested I have linked my process video below. In the video I tell more about the process as well as the story behind the photo. Thanks again for joining me today and special thanks to Jody for having me as the October guest designer. Have a wonderful day!

Tuesday’s Talent with Kelly

Hello friends! I hope that you are having a fantastic week. Today I am sharing a layout and process video in which my focus is on using Shimmerz Paste-eez Salt of the Earth, and Black Tie Event sequins. Unfortunately the Black Tie Event sequins have sold out, but I’m pretty sure that Moonshine Delight and Crushin’ on Purple will work as well if you’d like to replicate the sequins that I used for this project.

I used several Felicity Jane kits for the papers and embellishments for this layout. Once I settled on the color scheme, the layout came together fairly quickly.  Adhering a few sequins down the edge of my photo is one of my favorite go-to techniques when it comes to sequins. It doesn’t take a lot to make a big impact on your page.

If you have never tried modeling paste through stencils, this is the perfect one to purchase. The texture of white on white amazing, especially in person. For this layout I chose to use a geometric stencil because I felt like the graphic nature of the triangles worked well with the dots and lines on the patterned papers.

Adhering the tiny stars was easier than I thought, and I found that using Scotch Tacky Adhesive worked well. It dries clear which is a huge plus.  I love the combination of the silver stars and the holographic sequins. They are so versatile and can be used for so many different projects.

Thanks so much for joining me today, and I hope that you have a great week!

Make it Yours Monday~Love Fall

Hello my crafty friends and welcome back to another Make it yours Monday! This week, we are being inspired by our fabulous guest designer for the month, Jenn Gagne! As soon as I saw this layout of hers, I knew it was my inspiration piece! I love the circle element as well as the little corner accents to add some interest to the page!!! .

To begin, I took a piece of vanilla cardstock and misted it with Shimmerz Sunset Strip Vibes, Tattered Angels Pumpkin Spice and Chili mists and then took my art rag and rubbed them together to create the slightly ombre/blended background.

I placed my photo next, so it could help aid the placement of all the other elements later on. I added a torn piece of navy blue and gold glitter cardstocks as my photo mat. They complimented the colors in the photo so well!!  I also did my title next, so I could place it exactly where I wanted it, and could work around it with the embellishments later on.

My favorite part was creating the leaves, using one of the new, FREE cut files available in the shop, Lovely Leaves. I used my Brother Scan N Cut and several pieces of fall colored cardstocks to cut out multiples of each leaf design, and then used my versamarker and embossing powders to add details to the large ones and my favorite glue in my fineline bottle and glitter for the smaller leaf details. No automatic alt text available.

I situated the leaves around the page to mimick the circle element of Jenn’s layout, and added some of the newest sequin mixes in the shop, Aquarius and Peachy Keeny, to add even more dimension and texture as well as great pops of color!!

I added a few of the smaller leaves around my photo and my journaling to the left of the title, just under the photo.

To finish my page, I added some splatters to the leaf ring around the page, using the same colors I used for the background, as well as some Navy color shine. I mounted the entire layout on a piece of soft orange cardstock and added a doodle-y boarder around the edge to add some definition. No automatic alt text available.

A few strips of nave and gold cardstocks to the top left and bottom right corner & the date finished off my fall wreath layout.

I got really excited when I saw the finished page!! It’s probably one of my most favorite layouts in a LONG time!! I hope you enjoyed my process and layout today and will stop by the shop for some of these amazing products!!!! When you do,

Beautiful Easter Together, Scraplifting Kat Benjamin!

Hey y’all, Ali here! Happy August! I am so excited about this month, the Sparklers are scraplifting some super talented ladies this month. This week we are kicking it off with Kat Benjamin! She is such a sweet person and her layouts always pop! I have actually wanted to scraplift this layout since the first time I saw it, but I never got around to it! So I finally did it, woohoo!!

I loved the composition of her layout, so I really wanted to stay true to that. I started with some acrylic paints and just brushed it onto the white cardstock with a dry brush and minimal paint to create that really fun messy look. When that dried, I added some Peach Fuzz Paste-Eez through a geometric stencil to add dimension and texture…a few strips of washi tape finished off my background. I was shocked at how quickly this layout came together.

I backed my photos with some patterned paper, created the little “Easter” tag, and added my title. My finishing touches are always the super fun sequins (of course)! So I sprinkled some “What’s Up Buttercup” sequin mix throughout. The thing I love most about this mix are those adorable little flowers! They really scream Spring, and were perfect for my Easter layout!

This layout was a bit outside of my “box” but I absolutely love how Kat’s layout inspired me to get a little messy and the outcome is so fun and Easter-y! I hope you love it too!

Sketch it out Saturday / Seriously?!

Good morning everyone!!

Sarah here this morning to share another layout with you! I started this layout with this months theme in mind and a fun sketch too! I had already went threw and pulled a bunch of old pics of me an my sister from back when we were kids and our faces in this picture was perfect. When we were kids, Seriously was more then just a word it was a whole expression! lol It covered so much!

This layout comes from DesignerDigitals.com

I started this layout with Basic Greys B-side collection, when I knew what collection I was using I pulled out all my pretty sequins and started matching them up to my papers. I grabbed 4 different packs and combined them, Pocket full of posies, Jaded hearts, Black tie event and Fairy Garden. I mixed them all together and sewed a plastic sheet into a shaker pocket to go behind all my layers. I layered a bunch of the papers from the collection like in the sketch.

Once I got all the layers where I wanted them, I started to stick them down.

Instead of adding ribbon or lace, because that’s what it looks like in the sketch to me, I used a boarder punch. Before I stuck the shaker pocket and all my layers down, I traced out the area behind where I wanted my picture and layers to go and came in with some Shimmerz Texturez, The tide that binds and used a old gift card and pulled it down and away from where I was putting the photo cluster.

Finishing off my layout I added some stitching, I know that wasn’t in the sketch but I love to sew on my layouts, so I did. Then I added little strips of paper around the layout like on the sketch and then I just had to go back in and add some more sequins, just cause I love them!

Id love to see you play along with this sketch!

Sketch it out Saturday/Sweet photograph

Good morning everyone!! Sarah here this morning to share my 1st layout for Spiegelmom Scraps and I’m excited about it!! I hope your Saturday is going well. Last night was a bit rough, we had some nasty weather come threw, but its bright and sunny this morning!

Ok so back to the layout I made, lol. I love to play with sketches! Sometimes I stick really close to them and then other times it ends up looking completely different then the sketch! And I love the fact that a sketch can jump start your creativity when your a bit stuck. This is the sketch I used for the layout I made today:

I found this layout on Pinterest, like I do a lot of my layouts, but it came from ScrapFriends.comAU, unfortunately there isn’t a link to the site anymore.

I grabbed an older WeR Memory Keepers paper pad from my stash called It Factor and pulled that stripped paper for the background. Then I reached into my DT pack and grabbed the pretty Shimmerz Texturez in The tide that binds and a stencil from my stash. Instead of checkers on my layout I wanted to use circles, I grabbed a little dabber I have and dipped it in to the texturez and started dabbing away at the bottom side of the page. I loved the way it looked so I added some to the top of my layout too.

I grabbed a few papers out of the paper pad and did a bit of layering behind my photo and added a tab that said love from a little bucket I have with lots of random pieces from random collections from the past, sitting on my desk. I wanted some flowers in on this layout, so I grabbed a pack of flowers that went with an older Maggie Holmes collection and popped one to the left side of my layout along with a cute little sticker from a Dear Lizzy collection. I had 2 collections of sequins that went perfect with this layout, the colors were a perfect match!! Gotta love Emojis and Jaded Hearts! Both collections are so beautiful and added the bling factor that I was wanting. Side note, lol, But I know how Traci Claiborne from the Scrap Gals is always talking about how they don’t like to splatter glimmer mist or other mists cause it cant be exact or might mess the layout up, Sequins are a perfect alternate to that!! I think at least lol, different sizes and you can place them where you want, without having to worry about messing anything up!

I added my title off to the right of my picture, those cute acetate words from Pink fresh studio and another leaf from the Maggie Holmes die cut pack. Then I moved to the top of my layout and started layering bits and pieces from the Pink Paislee Cest La Vie ephemera pack and a few more bits from the Maggie Homles ephemers pack. I added a flair button from an old Hip Kit kit and then went to adding more of those beautiful sequins!

I really hope you enjoyed this layout and would love to see you play along with the sketches and your pretty Spiegelmom Scraps stash too! Make sure to tag us on Instagram so we can see your creations!!

What About Wednesday: Bloom

Aloha My scrappy friends!! Today is my last blog post in this design team season. It is definitely sad to see some of the ladies I have become really good friends with go. Though I am excited for them and the future adventures I know they will have. I am also so excited to see what this new team brings to the table. Pushing and inspiring each other to create and make even better projects and layouts.

Since we are thinking along the lines of new beginnings, I decided to make a spring layout. When we bought our new house this past year we didn’t really know all the flowers and plants the previous had planted in the yard. By the time we looked at the house it was summer and most of the spring flowers were gone. The owner had also used rocks to cover the flower beds.

I am not sure if this was to have a cleaner look or because of all the rain. But this spring as green shoots grew up from the rocks the kids and I started to get really excited about all the growth. What would be coming from these leaves and how many.

We got lucky and had some daffodils, some tulips, a lilac type tree, and these really pretty pink and purple flowers. covered in droplets of rain they just glimmer, I took out my nice DSLR and captured their beauty. I am glad I did because a few days later my girls picked over half the flowers and then the rain just knocked them down. They were gorgeous and regal looking for the short time they made their appearance.

I knew that when making a layout with this image, I wanted a collection that would really bring out the colors in the picture. The Pink Paislee Paige Evans Oh My Heart Collection has tons of flowers and purples. Starting with white cardstock, I cut it down to 8 1/2 by 11 and then matted it with a pretty green watercolor patterned paper.  Using this size really just makes the photo be front and center and the focal piece.

At the top of the layout I added some purple acrylic paint and a stencil with Shimmerz Paste-eez Salt of the Earth paste. I wanted a light stenciled pattern over the purple. I knew my photo would cover most of it so I only needed it to be subtle.

Under the photo I built an embellishment cluster on a white doily. I layered a tag, some die cut flowers, some chipboard pieces, and some small grey feltie hearts. I used my tiny attacher to adhere some of my pieces for some metal texture.

I used gold glitter thickers on the bottom of the photo for that WOW factor. These are my favorite thickers, they really add a punch of amazingness especially when you add them right on the photo.

On the bottom half of the layout I layered strips of patterned paper from the Pink Paislee Paige Evans Oh My Heart collection. I used colors that were already in my photo, except for the pink. I had wished that color was in there just because a dash of pink always makes things look better.

In different areas of the layers I added die cut flowers from the collection. I stapled some on, used my tape runner and also pop dotted some of the flowers. I really wanted to create a lot of dimension in the layers.

I also tucked in some wood hearts from the Wild at Heart collection and some Love U Tons Felt Hearts.

with the chipboard and feltie hearts all layered in the papers everything looks all nestled in. Kinda reminds me of the flowers nestled in the rocks. Lots of textures going on.

All along the bottom layer I added A Mermaid’s Tale, Hot Right Now and Blues Travelers sequins on the flowers. I really like how this make those flowers stand out and adds something fun to that bottom layer.

I scattered sequins all down the left side of the left as well. I mostly used the little tiny silver stars. They are so cute and with my silhouette pick up tool, they are so easy to get on the layout.

Here is a look at the whole layout.

I also made a process video to go along with this layout for my personal youtube channel. Which you can watch right here below.

Don’t forget just next week the new SpiegelMom Scraps team will be starting, give them a warm welcome, they are so talented!! Also be sure to subscribe to the SpiegelMom Scraps Youtube Channel, that is where I will be posting this upcoming year and I am so excited to be making and sharing more amazing layouts and ejects with you.
