Hi Folks, Laura here today with a quick post sharing a fun shaker card.
I was sorting through my sequins and decided to mix the last few from a couple of different mixes together. I had some pinks from Magical Ocean and yellow and gold from Sunny Smiles. These were the exact colours of a vase of flowers I had on my bookshelf, so I knew they would work together. Now that I have completely used up these two mixes I have space for two more!!
I grabbed a doily and carefully cut the centre out using a craft knife. Rather than use foam tape as I usually would I used glue gel to pop up and adhere the shaker. I preferred the clear gel in this instance as the foam tape would have shown through doily.
I tied a length of ribbon around the card, and added an extra bow, in colours matching the sequins. A small stamped greeting finished it all off. I challenge you to think about your supplies a little differently… what can you make a shaker from?!

Happy NSD! It’s Laura and I am interrupting the celebrations to share my regular Saturday post with you – but don’t worry – it is a layout!
I’ve been experimenting with the white felt feathers. I wanted to know if they would take colour – they do! I sprayed the feathers with water and sprinkled on some brusho powders. I needed a lot of water to get the colour moving but I love the results. Now I know I can alter any of the white felt shapes to any colour to match whichever project I am working on.
I dyed these ones to match my budgie’s feathers – yellows, greens and a little blue in the long tail feather. The different sized yellow sequins in the Spring Blooms and Sunny Smiles mixes match in perfectly. Other than that I kept it fairly simple layering each feather over a piece of cotton ribbon tape and stitching with my sewing machine to attach to the layout.
I added my alphas directly to my photo and popped up the top of each letter with a little silicone glue. I love the extra dimension this gives the page.
This also fits the criteria for my challenge to you over the weekend – scrap a layout with ribbon. If you do you can join us at SpiegelMom Scraps facebook page to link up!

A glass block from Hobby Lobby + a 25 light strand + Mod Podge + patterned paper + stickers + wood veneers + a wide burlap ribbon = A Fast & EASY gift for any time of year!
I picked up the glass block for $5 on sale, the added the paper & stickers using Mod Podge and finished it off with a few Studio Calico wood veneers & a burlap bow.
This was so quick & easy to create & now my desk at work is much prettier! It really needed some spicing up, pun totally intended there since I used Lilybee All Spice theme set & cardstock stickers.
Don’t have time to get a glass block?? How about a couple mason jars or recycled pickle jar? Think outside the box, or jar, and create some beautiful & easy gifts this Holiday season.
Happy Holidays 🙂
