Hi! It’s Karla back today for a Creative Card feature. This month our theme is winter and tools – fun!! Of course, with Christmas around the corner, I wanted to get a few more Christmas cards made, so I pulled out my Cuttlebug, dies and stamps and three of the new sequin mixes from the SpiegelMom Scraps Store – Birthdays and Balloons, Happy Happy Winter and Puppy Dog Tails! I really love how the bright colours that I chose from these mixes look so fun and festive.
These crazy birds just make me laugh everytime I see them, and I’m sure that whoever I give this card to will share a smile. I used a Pretty Pink Posh die and my Cuttlebug to diecut this neat scalloped square before watercolouring my little guy and adding a cute little Santa hat.
Inside, I stamped a sentiment from the Tim Holtz Crazy Bird Sentiment stamp set and used some bright, fun sequins for a pop of colour.
Hi friends! Karla back today to share a First Day of Kindergarten layout with you using two of the fabulous new SpiegelMom Scraps sequin mixes – I Solemnly Swear and Blue Moon! The woodgrain sequins in the Blue Moon mix are so amazing!! I’m using one of the new FREE SMS cutfiles, which was perfect for this layout combined with the Simple Stories school papers. It’s so hard to believe my baby is already in school, but she loves it so much that I can’t really be sad…
You can see the detail of those gorgeous woodgrain sequins and how lovely they look combined with the amazing colours in the I Solemnly Swear mix! I used this week’s circle sketch since November is all about circles here on the blog (see below), and I drew on some stitching lines with a fine black marker by tracing a large round circle die. The smaller diecut circles using a Kaisercraft Nesting Circle Die set (on sale in the SMS shop!!) continue the stitched theme.
I love the colours in this Simple Stories school collection, which matched the sequins so well! Those cork letters are just great!
Hi! It’s Karla back today with a sweet baby layout, using this week’s fun circle sketch (shown below) and using inspiration from the amazing Rachel Lowe, this month’s Guest Designer along with the beautiful new sequin mixes Birthdays & Balloons, Unicorns & Rainbows, and Dream Land! ! Usually when I scraplift I follow the other layout quite closely, but this month I thought I’d use elements from Rachel’s layout and incorporate it into the sketch. I really love the fun pinks and purples in her layout (directly below) as well as the adorable unicorn, rainbow, cupcake, flower and cloud images! I also used the stitching as inspiration – I’ve been really loving how stitching on a layout looks. Here’s a look at Rachel’s beautiful layout:
I started off by taking a pretty floral background paper and layering it with a piece of white cardstock. Then, I cut out my circles to coordinate with the sketch, using pieces of patterned paper as well as a couple photos from a day shortly after my third daughter was born and was home from the hospital. Both her sisters were so happy to hang out with her, and it’s so awesome to look back on these sweet photos now, almost 6 years later!
I stitched through the circles with my sewing machine and then layered on my stamped images. I used a sweet little unicorn digi stamp from Bugaboo Stamps, coloured wth Jane Davenport Magic Wand coloured pencils (how cool is that name?!!) and sat her on a Pretty Cute Stamps rainbow stamp watercoloured with ArtQuest watercolours and embossed (clouds) with Emerald Creek Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder. I love how glittery and puffy this embossing powder is, while still letting the base colour show through. I couldn’t resist adding a pretty blue flower from the Unicorns & Rainbows sequin mix in the adorable unicorn’s mane!
I added some chipboard stickers, regular stickers and a sticker title from several different sheets in my stash. I was really excited to find this cupcake sticker!
Next, I added some felt clouds cut with a Your Next Stamp stitched cloud die. I find that as long as I layer the felt along with a piece of cardstock it cuts beautifully! And, the best for last…. I used three of the amazing new release sequin mixes!!! Birthdays & Balloons, of course Unicorns & Rainbows, and Dream Land!
Hello! It’s Karla here today with a fun, snowy layout using the new free cutfiles and two beautiful new sequin mixes – Roadtrips & Sunshine and Dreamland! I have always loved combining blues and pinks for winter and even holiday colour schemes, and since the hat my daughter was wearing was pink, I thought what better reason to add some pink snowflakes and sequins to my layout! Last week I used the sketch (shown below) very closely, but this week I decided to use it more as a starting point for inspiration. I grabbed some Kaisercraft circle diecuts (on sale!!) to cut circular frames and layered my photo on top. I love matting my photo with several layers of coordinating papers, but I do cheat a little and only use an L shape of the patterned paper instead of a whole rectangle to be thrifty 😉
I always love the stickers that come with the collections, but I never seem to use them enough! This skating polar bear in the Echo Park Hello Winter collection was just too cute to pass up, and I popped him up on foam dots beside the Let It Snow sticker. I sponged pink Distress Oxide ink on the white snowflake diecuts and then embossed them with Emerald Creek Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder, which gives a lovely puffy effect while still showing the pink underneath.
I diecut the hot chocolate title once with the grey and white polkadot paper and then just the cup with another patterned paper from this collection, using my Cricut Explore. I love how the sequins in these two collections could be used for so many occasions, but the colours worked so perfectly with this snowy layout!
Hi friends! Karla here with an exciting start to November!! There are lots of things going on this month, and some amazing brand new sequins to share in the SpiegelMom Scraps shop!! You can see a peek of all the sequin in Jody’s post yesterday. Our theme this month is circles and sketches – so you’re going to see lots of ways to use both of those things! And, we have new FREE cutfiles so there is so much inspiration to get creating!! Today, I’m using two of the beautiful new sequin mixes – Happy Happy Winter and Birthdays and Balloons to create this fun, wintery layout. I’m following the sketch shown at the bottom of the page. I really love how it turned out with the square photos on top of the large circles. I used a circle cutter tool from my stash and the Simple Stories Life In Color collection. It’s not a winter themed collection, but I loved the bright colours and how they looked with my photos.
The snowflake diecuts are one of the new free SMS cutfiles this month. I used my Cricut Explore to size the whole sheet of snowflakes – they’re awesome!! and added them to my layout after coating them with Emerald Creek Winter’s Mistake embossing powder. It’s such a fun powder using a combination of glitter and embossing powder!
Here’s a quick video showing you my process adding the embossing powder to the diecuts:
The cut apart sheet in the Simple Stories pack was just right for adding my journaling. I added some foam dots to pop up some of the coordinating sticker elements and some Glossy Accents to highlight certain areas of the paper like the printed paper clip below.
Hi! Karla here today with a cute and fun Halloween layout using the Morning Glow, Lisa’s Starry Nights (I’m seriously addicted to these ;0 ) and Peachy Keen. I started off by using a sketch from the October Sketchy Challenge at the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine blog and grabbed a Carta Bella ‘Haunted’ paper pack and some cute pics of my two littles a few years ago.
I splattered some pretty mists from the Tattered Angels Man Cave Calendar Kit, which includes 4 different mists in a pack. I love the bright lime green! I picked out sequins from each mix that would coordinate with the papers and photos and used Glossy Accents to adhere them.
A few embellishments from a Jillibean Soup diecut ephemera pack finished off my page.
Hello! It’s Karla here today with a cute baby page, and I’m scraplifting the most awesome Kelly Barron! She’s been our Guest Designer here all month long, and I just love her style!! Here’s the page she designed and you can see my scraplifted layout below. All the info on her pretty page can be found on her blog post HERE.
I’m really trying to get more of Erica’s baby pics into her album, so I grabbed these cute (well I understand if not everyone finds them cute 😉 ) pics of her with food on her head. Yup, you know it’s true love when you can watch hours of your baby doing the same thing over and over and never get tired of it, or you see her with food on her head and, well, you just have to take a photo – or three, lol! Erica, who is 5 now, even helped me do the stitching across the corners with the sewing machine. I grabbed some of the new Lisa’s Starry Night and Morning Glow sequin mixes and the Gold Burlap String to coordinate with my page.
The older Echo Park Made From Scratch collection was just right for this page, and you can see how wonderfully the textured vintage Architextures potholder sticker from 7gyspies fits in with it!
I loved the way Kelly used some smaller stickers as part of her title and found some in my stash that would work for me too. I added another of the Architextures mason jar stickers alongside some stickers from the EP collection.
