Happy Ground Hogs’ Dag!! Jody here today. Although I don’t take much stock in a ground hog determining whether or not I continue to freeze my butt off, it’s still a cute yearly tradition here in the U.S!!
Today, I’m sharing a layout I literally put together in 20 minutes!! We all need layouts like these for busy, busy times! I shared a couple sneaks of this on the SMS Instagram a few weeks ago and today I’m excited to share it with you all. I started with a FREE cut file (found on the Free Cut Files page here) cut out on American Crafts white cardstock and paper from Pink Paislee/Paige Evans, Take Me Away. I chose the Flurries Background cut file I designed and simply layered it over my Pink Paislee paper. I added a Chantilly Lacy 8 inch doily, some Pretty Little Studio Hello Heather papers and my photo, then adhered that onto my background. I also added some craft foam under my photo to pop it up a little.
One other tidbit I’d like to share is my struggle to actually use cut files! Crazy right?! My scrap studio is no longer in the room, or even the same floor as my computer which causes a problem obviously. So, to solve this dilemma I have been cutting files while I’m doing other things at my computer like checking email, working on taxes (UGH help me now LOL), etc. It’s pretty easy to get my cut file set up cut, and then let it run while I’m working on other tasks. I just wanted to share that with you all since I’m sure I’m not the only one that faces challenges like this. So now, I have several different cut file background and others ready to go whenever I want to sneak away for 10 minutes to create in my space!!
I simply added my title, which are cardboard Thickers from American Crafts (maybe from Dear Lizzy or Amy Tan??) and Foam Thickers from the Pink Paislee Take Me Away collection. Finally I sprinkled some Amore sequins in a few areas. I called it good in 20 minutes you guys!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!! I hope you are inspired to pre-cut some background cut files and have them ready to go for creating some super quick layouts!!

We have been planning this for months and are super excited the day is finally here!! Caroline from Cuts2Luv is a total a sweetheart and her flair are wonderful, so be sure to check her shop out HERE. This is a long hop, so let’s get to it!
For today, I’m sharing a layout I created based off a sketch I designed and have included some brand newShimmerz products, a free cut file (found HERE), and some lovely flair from Cuts2Luv!
SMS Jan2017 Sketch
I used this sketch as my inspiration and this FREE SpiegelMom Scraps cut file to create all my snowflakes. You can find the cut file HERE and the sketch can be saved right from this post. After cutting the Flakey background for another project, I saved all those lovely flakes for more projects! I stuck pretty close to my sketch, which always makes my scrapping go way faster. I just turned the sketch on it’s side to mix it up a little bit. After all, I did just have an insane weekend LOL!!! I started with white American Crafts cardstock and used several of the die cut snowflakes to as masks, painting over them with In The Navy AcriTonez from Shimmerz Paintz. This technique is great when you want to create your own background and want specific colors! I then used some of those same die cut snowflakes on my layout and layered them with the Blustery Day Feltie Snowflakes. LOVE THESE!!
The new AcriTonez are amazing, self-priming paints. They go on with a chalky-like feel and dry completely matte, almost like chalkboard paint does. It’s the coolest!!I also completely painted over the “Today” in my title. It was black and the AcriTonez cover it beautifully.
After my background dried, which was super fast, I added some layers of Pink Paislee Moonstruck behind my photos to bring out the bright pink and navy. I added some contrast with a Corky Flake (die cut cork snowflakes) and love how they stand out!
One of my favorite things to do when scrapbooking is adding small details around my page. It keeps your eye moving around the layout and gives it so much texture and interest. Adding little details like Cut2Luv flair, SpiegelMom Scraps Sequins and splatters of Shimmerz sprays are my totally perfect finishing touches! The navy blue splatters you see are Mama Sings the Blues Coloringz. Caroline’s flair is fabulous!! Layering it, like I did below is so much fun! You’ll love the dimension and texture it adds to you layout! Do check her out!! Also pictured below are Tiny Heart Cork Confetti and Chasing Azul sequins.
A few notes about my layout before you hop on to the Cuts2Luv blog. Caroline and I love to give away prizes, SO be sure to leave comments on all the designer’s blog participating in the hop. You have through Saturday, January 14th to leave comments and TWO winners will be announced on Monday January 16th in the Facebook event!

Hello SpiegelMom Scraps fans! It’s Sarah on the blog again, today, bringing you my second guest designer project. It is a two page, Project Life, layout of our Halloween festivities. I usually do one, two page, Project Life layout per week, but when there are special events or holidays, I will do an extra two pages for it!
I used papers, stickers, and a 12×12 cut-apart sheet from the Crate Paper After Dark collection. The After Dark collection included a Spooky Glitter Thicker pack that has shapes and phrases that I just had to use! I was lucky enough to get a sewing machine from my mother-in-law this week, so I’ve used it on a lot of the cards. I think adding stitched elements to your layouts adds amazing texture!
Here we have my title card. I layered one of the 4″ Gold Foil Doilies under a tag and layered on Yellow Felt-Fetti Hearts,Midnight Felt Stars, and Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars.
I created a shaker pocket using half a packet of the Trick or Treat Sequin Mix! I used my Fuse tool to seal it shut!
I absolutely love the Super Stars Cork embellies! They are the perfect size for Project Life, just like most of the goodies in the shop! Here I layered one under a word sticker! I also love to do this with larger enamel dots!
Here you can see a close up of the machine stitched boarder. I used another one of the 4″ Gold Foil Doilies and added a label sticker from Crate Paper After Dark. I piled on the Studio Calico Wood Veneer and Super Star Cork stars. I also used a bit of Heidi Swapp Color Shine in gold.
I layered on the felt, cork, and wood hearts and stars on this card! To add some texture, I looped several strands of gold thread and stapled them in place!
Well, that’s all from me today! I hope that I can inspire you to get those memories scrapped. However you document your memories, Jody will have just the right elements in her shop to help you make your projects shine! I can’t wait to create another project to share with you next week!
Hi ladies and gents! Today I’m bringing to you a series of perfume bottle cards. I’ve been itching to make something like this but there doesn’t seem to be any perfume bottle stamps out there. So I’m going to make my own!
I started by searching for various perfume bottle images on Google. I replaced the brand names with sentiments and friends’ names. I used some special fonts to add character to the perfume bottles. Here are some of the fonts I used: MA Sexy, Papyrus and Noodle Script. Then I printed them out and fussy-cut them.
I kept the perfume bottles black and white and created colorful backgrounds to highlight them. All the backgrounds are created with acrylic paints using different techniques – paint splattering, smooching and regular painting. I was just playing by ear.
I added washi tape to ground the focal point of the card. Finally, I finished the cards with sequins from SpiegelMomScrapShopand daisy cabochons from craftsutopia (ETSY). The sequins complement the colored background very well. I love the effect! The daisy cabochon reminds me of Marc Jacobs so I added it to the perfume bottle and it looked really cute.
I hope you like these cards as much as I do. Please clickHEREif you’d like to see the process video. Have a wonderful day!
Today we are bidding farewell to Ka Slagoski, our Tuesday’s Talent this month. I have seriously enjoyed Ka’s posts and every little detail on her cards! Thank you so much Ka. I’m forever your fan! I hope everyone enjoys, comments and shares Ka’s final guest designer post today.
Hello everyone! It’s Ka here with my final post as SpiegelMom Scraps September Guest Designer! I’ve had so much fun designing with Jody’s awesome products! I hope you’ve enjoyed my creations and thank you so much for all the sweet comments and support! And a special thank you to Jody for inviting me to be to be part of SpiegelMom Scraps!
For today’s post, I made a birthday card with a matching birthday tag. I absolutely adore owls and think they are just some of the cutest critters. I decided to use the adorable owls images from the “Hoo Loves You” set from Whimsy Stamps to create today’s projects. I started the card by die-cutting a white stitched rectangle panel and masking the stitched edges with masking tape. I then, placed a Heidi Swapp Stencil over it and applied some mint ink all over the entire panel. I added some gray ink by lightly sponging around the edges. To create the gray frame, I used the chisel end of a T4 Copic Marker to color in the masked stitches edges. This panel was adhered to a lavender card base. Next, I stamped the owls in gray ink and colored them with Copic Markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I popped the owls up using foam dimensional adhesives and added an aqua chevron twill ribbon to ground them. I pulled out a Studio Calico Speech Bubble Wood Veneer and stamped “have a” and “birthday” to the speech bubble in black ink and then popped the speech bubble with foam dimensional adhesive. As a finishing touch, I scattered some sequins from the Sunny Day Sequins and Blue Lagoon Sequins Mix from SpeigelMom Etsy Shop. I thought it be fun to create a matching tag for the birthday card above. I did some stencil work on one of the SpiegelMom Scraps Medium Shipping Tag and matted it with a gray cardstock. I customized the “woo-hoo!” sentiment using Avery Elle Elle’s Alphas and stamped the sentiment from Newton’s Nook Designs Newton’s Birthday Bash set. The owl and plum chevron twill ribbon were popped with foam dimensional adhesives. I finished the tag by adding the same mix of sequins as the card and tying yellow baker’s twine on top from SpiegelMom Scraps Etsy Shop.
I just love how this card and tag turned out! I hope you like them too and were inspired by today’s post! Thanks again for stopping by and don’t forget to stop by my blog. for the full list of supplies used to create today’s projects!
Hello SpiegelMom Fans! It’s Ka here to share two more cards with you! Today I am featuring gold products from SpiegelMom Scraps Etsy Shop. One of the most used metallic items in my stash is gold and second to it is silver. I love the different effects and looks of these metallic! They’re just so much fun!
Here is one of the gold products that I used on my card:
I decided to use the gold doily as a backdrop to help bring out the jar of bouquet. I know I didn’t do anything fancy to it, but I just love how it added the perfect shine to the card. The flowers from Avery Elle Petals and Stems set are stamped in pigment inks and carefully fussy cut. They were popped up on top of a jar which was also fussy cut from a patterned paper. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn Our Friendship Grows stamp set. I finished the card by wrapping the jar twice with a pink burlap string and tying that into a little bow.
Next gold products are these sparkly sequins and confetti:
When it comes to these fun sparkling sequins, I thought a shaker card is called for. Since I wanted to create the look of a collection of shoes displayed in a store window at the mall, I decided to have the shoes stamped in two rows using Encore Gold pigment ink. I created the shaker using some Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares Dies, an acetate sheet and the stamped panel of shoes from The Tons Stamps.
That is all for me today! Thanks for popping in and checking out these two cards! I hope you enjoyed them! And as always, if you like to see the full supplies list, clickHERE. I’ll be back here again next Tuesday to share even more cards using more SpiegelMom Scraps products!
