Scraplifting Kelly Barron with Karla

Hello! It’s Karla here today with a cute baby page, and I’m scraplifting the most awesome Kelly Barron! She’s been our Guest Designer here all month long, and I just love her style!! Here’s the page she designed and you can see my scraplifted layout below. All the info on her pretty page can be found on her blog post HERE.

Scrapbook Layout by Kelly Barron

I’m really trying to get more of Erica’s baby pics into her album, so I grabbed these cute (well I understand if not everyone finds them cute ūüėČ ) pics of her with food on her head. Yup, you know it’s true love when you can watch hours of your baby doing the same thing over and over and never get tired of it, or you see her with food on her head and, well, you just have to take a photo – or three, lol! Erica, who is 5 now, even helped me do the stitching across the corners with the sewing machine. I grabbed some of the new Lisa’s Starry Night and Morning Glow sequin mixes and the Gold Burlap String to coordinate with my page.

The older Echo Park Made From Scratch collection was just right for this page, and you can see how wonderfully the textured vintage Architextures potholder sticker from 7gyspies fits in with it!

I loved the way Kelly used some smaller stickers as part of her title and found some in my stash that would work for me too. I added another of the Architextures mason jar stickers alongside some stickers from the EP collection.

Here’s a close up of the¬†Lisa’s Starry Night and Morning Glow sequin mixes and this lovely Gold Burlap String. Just by pulling specific colours from each one you can see how easy it is to mix and match!

Creative Cards with Karla – Autumn Blessings!

Hi friends! Karla here with a lovely Fall card ready to give out for Thanksgiving! Here in Canada it falls on this Monday coming. Seriously, I don’t know how all my US friends can wait till November ūüėČ We are having friends and family over on Sunday for a big turkey dinner and I definitely wanted to get some cards ready to give out. Fall is my favourite time of year, and I am really loving the Echo Park ‘A Perfect Autumn’ papers. I grabbed some of the new Peachy Keeny and Morning Glow sequin mixes to add shiny sequiny goodness! Those tiny peach flowers are so adorable!!

I combined the pretty pumpkin digi stamps from Craftin’ Desert Divas, printed on kraft cardstock, with a sentiment stamp from Pretty Cute Stamps and some pretty scrolls from Pink & Main stamped with Distress Oxide Ink. A Spellbinders diecut created a pretty panel for my focal image.

Inside, I used a couple stamps from a wonderful Pink & Main stamp set – Thankful. I love the Autumn Blessings sentiment!

Summer Smiles with Ali

Hey scrappers! It’s Ali here, this week we are scraplifting Jenn Gagne. I chose this colorful layout, I love the diagonal design with the doily center, so much fun!

For my layout I started with¬†picking my paper for my¬†layers and used a punch to create a doily-like layer¬†in each of the patterned papers I was chose. Once I finished the layers for the center I mixed up some watercolors to match. I also punched some 1 inch circles to emulate that diagonal design from Jenn’s original. I stuck those down and painted right on top of them. When my paint dried,¬†I removed the circles.¬†I love¬†the end result, it was so quick and easy, but it added a lot of interest to¬†the¬†background.

When my watercolor background¬†was dry, I added my layers, my photo and a title. I¬†used the “summer” banner¬†that went with the Echo Park Summer Dreams collection and the “smiles” thicker (I believe from Amy Tan). When it came time to add the sequins, it was super easy to choose, Orange Blossom was perfect for my orangey side, and Ferris Wheel was great for my teal side! Plus, these two mixes are some of my most favorite, so it was a no brainer!¬†A few stickers and embellishments in matching colors and this layout was done. I love quick layouts. This one was so fast. One of my favorite ways to create a quick layout is by picking a few colors to work with, and grouping paper, embellishments, and sequins by color.

Thanks for great inspiration Jenn! Hope you all enjoyed this summery layout! It’s still summer here in Texas, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for Fall soon!

Sticky Fun Summer, a Jen Schow Scraplift!

Hey! Ali here, super excited to share this layout with you guys. We are all scraplifting Jen Schow this week! How fun! Complete transparency, I listen to the Scrap Gals, and I have heard of Jen, but I hadn’t seen a lot of her layouts. But after this scraplift I am a huge fan, I (admittedly) stalked her Instagram for days trying to decide on a layout-there were so many fun ones to choose from! Ultimately I went with this awesome Halloween layout! For my layout I wanted to do a similar three word title, and I knew just the photos I wanted to use! Love these sticky little faces! After that I decided instead of stars (like in the original) I would use popsicles. Paper Issues has a great cut file with a cute little popsicle that fit perfectly with my theme. For some of the cut outs I used patterned paper. But for others I pulled out my trusty Fuse Tool! That’s right, I am using it again! Woohoo! I used the amazing Girly Glitter Sequin mix for my popsicles (and scattered about)! They also paired really nicely with the Echo Park Summer Dreams Collection (which is quite dreamy!).

The popsicles weren’t cutting it on their own (no pun intended) so I also added some simple suns. With a bit of layering and some stitching here and there I added my photos and boom! Finished! I love doing big cut file titles, the rest of the layout seems to create itself after that!

Here is a little close up of those shaker popsicles. I am a sucker for shakers!

Sorry for the brief post, I really hope you enjoyed it, but I am in Texas and the weather is looking a little sketchy right now! Hope you all are somewhere safe and dry! But if you’re like me, stuck inside, why not shop online a bit? Happy Sunday, y’all!

Girls Just Wanna Have Sun

Happy Sunday everyone, Ali here, with a super sunny scraplift! We are devoting the entire week to scraplifting the fabulous Missy Whidden! Now let me tell you, that is a tall order and I was super nervous about this! But I actually really enjoyed it and I love the layout I created!

Here is the layout I chose to scraplift, I absolutely love everything about it! Missy has such a distinctive style, and it is totally her own! I wanted to do it justice, without just copying it completely.

I had these fun selfies of my mom, sister, and me at the pool. So I knew I wanted to use the new awesome echo park collection Summer Dreams. So instead of the large star die cuts, I went with suns! I started with some watercolors to create a background in the color scheme. Then I added the suns and machine stitched around them (which was definitely a task!) and I absolute love the look this creates!

After the background was complete it was so simple to add my photos and some layering behind them. I used one of the stickers from the collection as my title. And of course, the best part, sequins! I mixed one of the mini packs with Orange Blossom  and sprinkled those around. Then I picked out a few of the light blues from the Ferris Wheel mix, just to tie it all together! Those little shells are perfect for summer scrapping, I just want to sprinkle them on everything!! Lastly, I typed my journaling and printed on some vellum. It is one of my favorite things to do, especially with a mixed media background, because I sometimes hate covering up all of that hard work!

As you can see, I tried to make this my own, but the inspiration from Missy definitely shines through!

Here are some close ups so you can see those amazing sequins up close, aren’t they fabulous?

Thanks for joining me for this scraplift week, be sure to come back next Sunday, I will have another Missy lift for you! And as always, save some money on your gorgeous sequins with this coupon code!

KEEPIN’ COZY

Hello everyone! ¬†It is that time of year where the weather gets colder, the fire place’s fire up, and ¬†soups are comfort food. ¬†Well in Northern California it does get cold, but not as cold as it did back east in New York where it can’t get more than 10 degrees below zero. ¬†Here in California the only place where it can get as cold as New York and snow is up north in Lake Tahoe. ¬†This is where I took my grandson for the first time and he had a ball.

We are teaming up with LGK (Let’s Get Sketchy)¬†and will be using a sketch this week created by Sara Scraps and it is an awesome sketch. ¬†Be sure to check them out!

So here is my take on Sara’s sketch!

img_4964

I really just love how this sketch turned out especially the new sequins from the Spiegelmom Scraps shop called Classic Cozy.  Take a look at how I glued them on top of the punched out snow flakes.

There are some other details on this layout using the Classic Cozy.

img_3666

Here you can see I used some Dylusions spray in London Blue for the droplets on the layout.

img_3667

As you can see there are some other colors in the sequin pack and snow flakes!  That is why I love this pack of sequins.
