Make It Yours Monday~ I Love Fall (and You)….

Happy Monday everybody and welcome back for another Make It Your’s Monday! I have a layout for you today that combines both the Girly Glitter AND Sugar Maple sequin mixes for a fresh fall look!

I began my layout with a piece of almond cardstock trimmed down 1/4″ on each side. I inked the edges with a dark brown ink to give it a distressed look and then, added the dark brown pattern paper, after I crumbled it up a bit to give it the look of a fall leaf! I added a strip of amber paper to hide the seam of the woodgrain, and to add more color.

Next, I took my photo and matted it on some gorgeous warm orange cardstock to make it pop. Then, into my fall paper scraps I went to create a layered look behind that. I wanted to give it an almost quilted look, so i used different patterns in each of the corners, including some gold glitter cardstock. For some added texture, I added an 8″ doily behind the entire photo mat. Some fall leaves, that I created with the FREE Spiegelmom Scraps cut file, Lovely Leaves, were tucked into each corner, after I used a Versamark pen and copper embossing powder to give them some details.

My title is to the right of the photo cluster, and I wanted to use a common fall phrase and give it a twist! Using a combination of tiny tile letters and Orange thickers, it reads, I Love Fall & *You* most of all. I love how it fit perfectly in that space and how it came out!! More of the die cut leaves, cut very small!!!, were sprinkled around the title area. I matted the entire layout on a piece of pretty fall plaid pattern paper and then, got to the sequins! The pretty yellows from the Girly Glitter mix as well as the iridescent ivory’s from Sugar Maple mix were just perfect for even more texture, color and sparkle to finish this fun fall leave pile layout!!

I hope you have a crafty Monday and dont forget to stop by the Spiegelmom Scraps shop for some of these amazing sequins as well as the amazing free cut files!! When you do,

Summer Smiles with Ali

Hey scrappers! It’s Ali here, this week we are scraplifting Jenn Gagne. I chose this colorful layout, I love the diagonal design with the doily center, so much fun!

For my layout I started with picking my paper for my layers and used a punch to create a doily-like layer in each of the patterned papers I was chose. Once I finished the layers for the center I mixed up some watercolors to match. I also punched some 1 inch circles to emulate that diagonal design from Jenn’s original. I stuck those down and painted right on top of them. When my paint dried, I removed the circles. I love the end result, it was so quick and easy, but it added a lot of interest to the background.

When my watercolor background was dry, I added my layers, my photo and a title. I used the “summer” banner that went with the Echo Park Summer Dreams collection and the “smiles” thicker (I believe from Amy Tan). When it came time to add the sequins, it was super easy to choose, Orange Blossom was perfect for my orangey side, and Ferris Wheel was great for my teal side! Plus, these two mixes are some of my most favorite, so it was a no brainer! A few stickers and embellishments in matching colors and this layout was done. I love quick layouts. This one was so fast. One of my favorite ways to create a quick layout is by picking a few colors to work with, and grouping paper, embellishments, and sequins by color.

Thanks for great inspiration Jenn! Hope you all enjoyed this summery layout! It’s still summer here in Texas, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for Fall soon!

What About Wednesday: Using a Spring Colored papers

Aloha!!! I have been spending time looking through photos I took last year and didn’t scrap yet. Seeing what stories I still want to tell in my albums. It has been fun looking through the years memories.

For this layout I decided to scrap about our trip to the pumpkin patch. This was my kid’s first time going to a pumpkin farm and picking out a pumpkin to carve for Halloween. I had lots of pictures of the brightly colored pumpkins and vibrant rich colors of all the other local produce. Bins full overflowing of amazingly fresh pumpkins, squash and gourds,

In the end I ended up picking a close up picture of a ladybug on my daughter’s hand. I love when I get to take pictures of my kid’s interacting with nature. Cayden wanted to keep that ladybug. Take him home. Take care of him by feeding him and giving him water to drink. I love how children are so willing to learn and appreciate the little things around them, like that lady bug. These are moments I don’t want to forget.

Scrapbooking gives me the opportunity to do that. Telling these moments I would definitely forget as we get busier and the kid’s grow older and become more interested in other things.

I debated pulling out some older Autumn colored papers for this layout. The rich colors would really help the story of this Autumn story. Only except Cayden was wearing a bright pink zip up sweater and that was in the background of most of this picture.

This year many of the newer lines have lots of bright springtime colors, more so than some past years after CHA. These colors are fun and cheerful. They are happy and really inviting after a long winter.

I knew these types of colors and patterns would be perfect for this layout. I decided to use a Clique kit that had lots Shimelle’s little by little collection. I wanted to use the playful and bright theme to help tell my story.

I layered my papers and attached them using my sewing machine with a teal thread. I added stitching to the sides papers for added texture.

I also added a medium shipping tag to a glassine bag. To the tag I added a hot pink ampersand . All of these were held in by more stitching. I knew I wouldn’t be adding my journaling to the tag but that you would be able to see it’s contents inside the glassine bag. I also added some puffy stickers and die cuts to the top of the tag, along with a mini clothespin. Seriously these clothes pins are so much fun to use.

I wanted to add something delicate to help tie in that fact that this little tiny bug is so fragile. I layered the picture with a wood grain paper and the doily. On that corner of the picture I added some die cuts, a puffy sticker and some wood chips I bought from the clearance section of the store.

Also to add more texture I used the cork butterflies . I stitched through the middle part of the body to add something fun and cool. I may be a little obsessed with using my new sewing machine lately. It looks so cool though, I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

For the title I added an acrylic phrase at the bottom of the photo, I used it along with the phrase on a die cut tag at the corner. I love the way it is layered together and fits snuggly around.

I sprinkled My Clementine Sequins around the cork butterflies. I wanted to give the illusion that the butterflies are flying just like the lady bug does.

I wrote the journaling around the big layer of patterned paper. I really like how the journaling emphasizes the big cluster of papers and layers.

Here is a look at the finished layout.

I hope you are encouraged to pull out papers that have a different theme from your photo and use them in a different way. Also don’t forget to add texture to your layouts.

I also hope you stop by the Facebook group and share the layouts and projects you are working on with the SpiegelMom Scraps products you have.

I can’t wait to see you around.

Today Layout with Katty Miranda

scrapbook-sessions

Hello friends! Katty here to share another 12×12 layout with you all. Today I am scrapbooking a photo of my boyfriend and I, I actually started out with another photo but as the layout progressed I decided to switch it out. The original photo was just too dark.

I began with White American Crafts Textured Cardstock as my background. I took one of the beautiful 8″ Chantilly White Lace Doilies and cut in into two parts, one a bit larger than the other. I added fun foam to the center to raise them up and give them some dimension  and placed them on opposite sides of my page, the smaller piece on the top left hand side and the bigger piece on the bottom right hand side. I used a purple twine and a mint green Jute and threaded it through the edges of the center of the doily.

  IMG_4677

I used some of my Shimmerz Paints mists in Peachy Keen, Heidi Ho Blue and Oh Say Can You Sea and with a brush added a few colors behind the doily. I also used the Peachy Keen and colored the center of the doily. I added a few splatters in the center area of the page.

IMG_4679 IMG_4678

I added two clusters of embellishments from my stash. I also added a few of the Love You Tons Felt Hearts in the clusters. I used an Amy Tangerine Kraft word thicker for my tittle. I scattered around the beautiful Sweet Pea Sequins  as well as the Morning Dew Drops.

IMG_4680

I placed my photo on top of the doily on the bottom right. I cut my picture in a circle shape to mimic the doily. I then used the Sweet Pea mix as a border around my picture.

I love how it turned out. This was really fun to make. There is a process video on my channel if you’d like to watch.

Thanks so much for stopping by! XOXO -Katty

Earthy Tones & No Title (Oops!)

Good morning, y’all!

I absolutely love sharing my creations online – what a blessing to have such a supportive community of crafters who share in our creative accomplishments! Thank you to everyone who supports myself, my fellow DT members, and SpiegelMom Scraps!

Recently, I’ve run across a little problem. I honestly can’t keep up with the amount of gorgeous product releases from the shop. I truly want to incorporate everything and I just can’t. But I’ll keep trying – and Saturday we’ll have even more products available to us. So stay tuned for that!#spiegelmomscraps #earthy #moodboard #scrapbooking #papercrafting #shimmerzpaints #sequins #exclusivesequins #pinkpaislee #paigetaylorevans @spiegelmom_scraps @paigetaylorevans @pinkpaislee @shimmerzpaintsThis layout came together inspired by the coffee shop where this picture was taken, in downtown Greenville, SC. I got to spend the day with some friends who I hadn’t spent much time lately – so good! Anyway, I was so excited with how the layout came together that I completely forgot to add a title. And didn’t notice until I was saving edited images from Lightroom onto my computer – I realized there was no name to name a folder. Oops!

To begin, I spritzed some Shimmerz Vibez onto a plain olive background. I stamped a few triangles also and once that dried, I began layering my scraps. I included a frame, vellum, and Pink Paislee C’est La Vie ephemera from my stash. I glued and stitched and added my picture matted on white cardstock. #spiegelmomscraps #earthy #moodboard #scrapbooking #papercrafting #shimmerzpaints #sequins #exclusivesequins #pinkpaislee #paigetaylorevans @spiegelmom_scraps @paigetaylorevans @pinkpaislee @shimmerzpaintsOnce I had my layering the way I wanted, I tucked a silver foil doily underneath my picture to finish it off.#spiegelmomscraps #earthy #moodboard #scrapbooking #papercrafting #shimmerzpaints #sequins #exclusivesequins #pinkpaislee #paigetaylorevans @spiegelmom_scraps @paigetaylorevans @pinkpaislee @shimmerzpaintsI stitched a “3” over top of it and added some wood veneer pieces for some additional texture. One of my favorite things to do with sequins is to individually stitch them onto my projects. I love the effect this has when I have the patience to do this! The exclusive sequin mix Evergreen Bough coordinates perfectly with my page! #spiegelmomscraps #earthy #moodboard #scrapbooking #papercrafting #shimmerzpaints #sequins #exclusivesequins #pinkpaislee #paigetaylorevans @spiegelmom_scraps @paigetaylorevans @pinkpaislee @shimmerzpaintsI finished off my project with a few stitched scraps at the top. Sometimes I’m happiest with my projects when I don’t use perfectly matched pieces from collections. This was one of those.

Thanks again for reading! Don’t forget about all the exclusive releases this coming Saturday.

Documenting December: Embellishments

Happy Friday!

I wonder if you’re all looking forward to the first weekend of December as much as I am!

You may have noticed yesterday on my blog during our hop that I began my journey into documenting December. I’ve decided that I really want to focus on the tiny details of the month that make it so special. I don’t want to get too caught up in creating during my documenting so I made several embellishments in advance. This is my alternative to foundation pages – I’m not so great at guessing how I want my final pages to look so instead I created some embellishments to add in as I go.

#documentingdecember #decemberdaily #embellishments #DIY #silhouettecameo #freecutfile #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #scrapbooking #papercrafting #decembercrafts #goldfoil #pinkpaislee @spiegelmom_scraps @pinkpaislee @shimmerzpaints

I started by painting a shipping tag a gray color that would coordinate well with the print on that Pink Paislee Yuletide tag. I trimmed down a gorgeous gold foil doily so that it would fit well in between. There are so many doilies in the shop that are perfect for holiday crafting (in fact, I just did a Pinterest search for ideas -so many good ones!) Once my tag was dry, I layered on some snowflake die cuts (download the FREE CUT FILE here), Yuletide ephemera stars, & sequins from the Holly Berries mix. I topped it off with a sticker phrase from Crate Paper.

One thing I’ve found I struggle with in using 6 x 8 albums is that there aren’t pockets for horizontal 3 x 4 in the full size page protectors. I tend to photograph in landscape a majority of the time. In order to include more pictures, I created some 6 x 4 page protectors. You can save a few steps by using any size page protector that has two pockets like this. Be sure to leave margin for punching holes, holes which I forgot to punch, oops! I then use my Fuse tool to seal any edges. So easy!

One trick I like to use for lightening up my details – mixing sequins! In this shaker pocket, I wanted to use some more white to bring out the white snowflake die cuts, so I used one of the NEW sequin mix releases – Holiday Traditions  & added just a pinch of Wedding Bells. I love how it turned out! Try it!

For my last embellishment, I combined Yuletide ephemera with our snowflake diecuts, and a few sequins from the Holly Berries mix. I stitched them together and I was done. It’s amazing how stitching can finish off a project.

I hope this inspired you to make some of your own holiday embellishments!
