Hi Chaps. Laura here today using one of our free cut files. You can find all our cut files here, and tag your Instagram photos with #smscutfile when you use our files – we love to see your work.
I have just got my hands on the latest sequin releases. My favourite (I love them all, but you know!) are the little stars ‘Stargazer‘ but I was also really taken with the yellow mix ‘What’s Up Buttercup‘. Using them as my cue I pulled out some yellow papers and an assortment of black cardstock with different finishes.
I spent some time cutting out pieces and backing the cut file. I tried to spread the colours and patterns out as evenly as I could. Once the hexagons were backed I added some black ink splatters and a sprinkling of sequins. Very clean and simple, but also bold with a big impact.
All that was needed to finish it off were the name and date tucked in, and a final ribbon tab for an extra splash of yellow.
I love the white space and the limited colour palette. How about you?
Hello my fellow SMS fans!! This is Megan and I am up today with a fun and simple scraplift. I was looking through my Scraplift board on pinterest and I found this one with a little mixed media on it.
Don’t you just love it?!! I immediately thought I would try using some Dazzlerz from the shop on the background, but when I actually got to work making the layout I changed my mind. I really liked the idea of using water colors.
I got the snowflake cut files from the blog. You can find it here.
I also put a little bit of the red spray mist on the snowflakes to have them match the title.
I wanted to do some journaling but I didn’t have anywhere to put it without taking away from the design. I pulled out a mini glassine bag and made a cute little tag. I tied some May Arts Burlap String through the hole I punched to make it easier to grab the tag and pull it out so you can read the journaling.
You can watch my process video below and I explain a little more about the story behind the photo and the tags:
Thanks for stopping by today!! I hope you’re having a great new year so far!!
Happy Saturday and welcome back to our Triple Hop weekend!! Today we have more of the Sparklers DT girls AND three awesome guests ready to inspire you. Welcome Missy Whidden, Alex Hunter and Karla Yungwirth!! Thank you so much for joining us and sharing your creativity with the SMS fans!
Today is all about SEQUINS and all the creative things you can do with them in your paper crafting. There is so much more to sequins than just shaker cards and today we want to knock your sparkly socks off, so let’s get started! Here’s today’s sparkly line-up:
It’s Jody here on the SMS blog and I’m totally thrilled! Today, I’m kicking off Sequin Saturday with this fun layout. I started off by creating my background with Shimmerz Dazzlerz Pucker Up Pink and watering it down with a a few sprays of H2O. I smooshed it around on a plastic Ziplock baggie. I put my hand inside the Ziplock and used my fingers to smoosh & kind of stamp my color onto my American Crafts white cardstock.
Next, I added Pink Paislee branding stripes along the middle to ground everything. Then I added more layers from there, beginning with some black cardstock from my scraps bin. I knew I wanted to pull in black because I already had my title planned out. I added a few messy layers behind my 4×4″ black & white photo and then mounted it all onto the black cardstock, backed with craft foam for some dimension.
In my layout I used my Summer Sunset sequins (which you can pre-order now) to accent the direction & angle at which my girls are “dabbing.” Using sequins to accent movement in a layout really helps your eye move naturally across your layout. Give it a try! Pull out action photos such as a sporting event, children dancing, running, etc. Use the sequins as an extentsion of the energy flowing from your photo or photos.
Another fun thing I did on this layout is add some stamping by pulling stamps from my stash. The “Carefree” stamp is a mystery to me BUT the “#together” stamp is from an American Craft super cute roller date stamp set.
The black die cut heart is from the free SpiegelMom Scraps cut file “Mermaid Hair Don’t Care” found here.
Finally, here’s a close up of the smooshed Pucker Up Pink & water with the Summer Sunset sequins.
Thank you for spending your time with us again today! Next, you’re on to Missy and all the awesomeness on her blog!!

I used the Summer word and cut it out multiple times on American Crafts White Textured Cardstock. As a background I chose a blue hombre patterned paper from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free Paper Pad. I am scrapbooking a 4×91/2 panoramic photo of Hanauma Bay in Oahu Hawaii from our recent summer vacation. I lined up the photos and the cut files vertically on the page. For the open cut files I used 6×6 paper pads from my stash to back the openings. I chose patterned papers in the blue and green tones. The regular cut words I covered in beautiful Sequins.
Hello again Spiegelmom Fans! It’s Juliana here from 17turtlesand I’m back for my second guest post! Today, I’m sharing another scrapbook page that I created using a fun mix of embellishments from the Spiegelmom Scraps Etsy Shop.
The XOXO wood veneer from theDear Lizzy Serendipity Wood Veneersjumped out at me as the perfect title for this photo of my sweet puppy Lincoln loving on one of his favorite toys.I fell in love with theHeart Felt Fetti Die Cutsas soon as I saw them and couldn’t resist adding them and some of the gorgeous Blue Lagoon Sequinsto embellish my layout. I really love how this mix of embellishments adds some texture and interest to my layout without a lot of added bulk. Thank you for stopping by today and I want to thank Jody so very much for having me as a guest here on Spiegelmom Scraps!
