Fuse It Fun Day- First Day Sillies

Hey everyone! I’m back with my Fuse tool this week! And in keeping with the 90’s theme, I bring you “gettin’ corky wit it”!

Yep, that was a terrible Will Smith reference! Haha! I realized recently that I scrapped my son’s first day of school photos, but not the “outtakes”! I really wanted to capture how silly he was being! I started with a naked tree cut file, and created leaves with cork embellishments. The tree on the right uses the Corky Cumulus embellies as leaf clusters. The tree on the left uses the Cork Confetti Hearts as the leaves! I contemplated painting the cork, but I went with the natural look because it reminded me more of Fall.

After I had the trees figured out I wanted to make a little school house. I created this cut file from free clip art. Once I layered each patterned paper, I fused little pockets of Gold Stardust Sequins for each of the windows on the back of the school house. The stardust sequins are probably my most favorite because they are so versatile and can be used on just about every project! For this layout I just love how they make the school shine!

Some Cloudy Days Felties finished off this little scene perfectly!

I absolutely love how this came out, it is quirky (and corky) and fun, really capturing my son’s personality! I hope you enjoyed it too!

Be sure to save some money when you stop by the scrappy store, and I would love to see how you “get corky wit it!” 🙂

Triple Hop Weekend-Day 3

Here we are on day number 3 of this fabulous weekend!  The Sparklers and our guests have totally inspired me to try a few new things and I’m just so thankful and thrilled to have them creating with me!  Today, we are welcoming the wonderful Bonita Rose to the hop.  I cannot wait to see what she created especially for today 🙂  Let’s get today’s party started with the line up!

Jody here again!! For today’s layout I wanted to accent patterned paper with mixed media.  I thought this would be a little tricky with this map paper from Fancy Pants Good Fellows collection. I’ve played around the highly technical packaging technique ‘smooshing’ on patterned paper and found that the mixed media isn’t as forgiving as it is on cardstock. The mixed media tends to soak in, like immediately!

So, I decided to let more of the patterned paper show on this layout since it compliments my bike riding theme.  I only accented smaller areas and the edges with some Keep Palm & No Yolking Coloringz and added my favorite Chunky Cork Stars!  I’m really happy with how this turned out, especially since masculine layouts are not my strong point. I also used some Marmalade Distress Ink to ink up the edges of my layout to really define it.
