Let’s start June with a Home Decor!
As you probably know, our June theme is a flashback to the 80’s and 90’s…. Thinking back to the eighties from a French point of view is related to an optimistic decade when everything seemed possible and America seemed to be emerging as an example to follow or to be inspired from. America appeared to be the land where your dreams may come true….And I must confess the USA made me dream a lot as a child of the 80’s!
That immediately made me want to use some of my Joli Mess’s cards and project life cards from the Cassie’s capsule. Since I had some spare frames, I decided to use three of them, and to match these cards with the Spiegelmomscraps sequins.
In the first frame, I used a “C’est possible” (It is possible) card, and match it with the Salt of the Earth sequins. For the second frame, the card says ” Ne t’arrête jamais 2 rêver” (Never stop Dreaming). I decorated it with 2 cork stars and the lovely gold stardust sequins.
The third and last frame asks us to “Imagine”, and I matched it with the Just Bleachin’ it sequins as well as cork and felt clouds). This project is very simple and can add a decorating touch in your home in less than no time!
And the good news is…. These frames can be yours! Just leave one comment below before the next Scrappy Friday (June 9th) and I’ll pick a random winner amongst all the comments!
Love from France!

Recently, SMS DT member Lisa came up with a great idea to utilize some of the often-ignored scrapbook products we hoard in our craft rooms. Lisa compiled a list of these products and each week will randomly select a few to use on a project. GENIUS!
All of this takes place in the private SpiegelMom Scraps Facebook group 15 Minutes 2 Scrap – if you aren’t a member yet, ask to join!
My layout for today was inspired by this list of products: Shimmerz products, Distress products, paper punches, embossing, and mists
To start, I punched 2.5″ circle punches out of papers from the Crate Paper Cute Girl and Dear Lizzy Saturday collections. I used some Shimmerz Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai to splatter some ink drops against a white cardstock background. I also added a few stenciled dots of Shimmerz Dazzlers, Sea U in the Mornin’, and once it dried I adhered the circle punches. I did this temporarily so that I could ensure placement of my circles and draw lines with a ruler to follow with my sewing machine.
Side note: Only a few short months ago I dreaded using my sewing machine. To anyone feeling this way, just keep on doing it. Pull it out here and there for some little things – it WILL get easier. And don’t be ashamed to use a pencil to help get straight lines!
I used some Distressed ink in Walnut Satin to distress my gift tag so it wouldn’t clash with the white background. I finished off my tag with some gray twine and tucked it and a cute white doily behind my picture. I used a mini clothespin to “hold” my picture in place.
The background dominated this layout so I only needed a few additional embellishments. I scattered some star sequins from the Cute Girl collection and some exclusive SMS A Day in the Woods sequins around my page. Also from Cute Girl is that adorable wood heart embellishment. Oh, and can’t forget that chipboard heart from Maggie Holmes Gather collection and of course a cloud feltie.
I love how this layout turned out! Thanks for stopping by! Be sure and check out some of the new Shimmerz colors in the shop.
Sometimes layouts are the most impactful when comprised of a pretty photograph and a few embellishments. It’s like the eye can linger instead of searching and processing details all over the page.
I’m such a believer in minimalist projects, and so I’m excited to be sharing mine today! I think the colors in this layout perfectly capture this somewhere in between summer & fall time. The picture featured was actually taken in January – Bare trees make for really gorgeous silhouettes.
I started with a white cardstock background and used some periwinkle paint to define the space I would be using. I splattered a little bit of darker paint around to add interest. Once it dried, I layered a few random pieces of paper from my stash and some Halloween themed washi tape by American Crafts over it. I lined up my photo after I had my paper arranged so I would know how big I wanted my shaker pocket. I used my Fuse tool to create this shaker filled with the Autumn Joy sequin mix. [Side note: These mixes go so far, this is my third project with this mix and I’m still going]
I painted those wood veneer shapes by Jillibean Soup in a slightly darker color than the background. I just love how it contrasts with the oranges in the sequin mix!
To finish up, I stitched on a Night of Navy heart feltie and added a little cork star from the shop. When I include a large gathering of sequins together on a layout I always add another singular one (or two) somewhere else to help balance my page.
And without too much fuss my project is done! I really love how it turned out.
Thanks for reading, y’all!
Hi Folks! Laura here today with a layout and process video…
I had an idea, which I’ll try and explain… when wet ink gets on shiny things it beads up – well, what would happen if I sprayed some silver confetti sequins? I chose to use India Ink spray as that would not wipe off the sequins when it was dry.
I was pleased with how it turned out and moved on to layering my photo. I used patterned papers in colours picked out from the photo and added a mini glassine bag for a journalling tag.
I added some twine behind my cluster and added some A Mermaid’s Tale sequins for extra colour.
And here is the video:
Thanks for stopping by,
Hello friends! Katty here to share another 12×12 layout. I am scrapbooking four small photos of my niece and nephew from my nephews birthday party. I began with American Crafts White Textured Cardstock. I matted all four photos on black cardstock. For my background I used some mist, I used a Lindy’s Stamp Gang mist called Merci Beaucoup Mint and a Heidi Swapp mist called Mustard with the packaging technique. I also added some splatters with Dylusions mists in After Midnight and Tangerine Dream. I used a 6×6 stencil by The Crafters Workshop called Mini Shattered Circles with the Dreamscicle Dazzlerz and The Tide that Binds Texturez to create some fun shapes and texture in the background.
I added my four photos and in between the four photos I added my tittle with some old Memento thickers which have a giraffe print on them. Since the photos are of the kids with some of the fun animals that the clown and Magician had brought out I thought those thickers would work well and I titled the layout “Wild Things” which I added in a T shape between the photos.
Lastly I added my favorite, the Cork Chunky Stars and I sprinkled some fun matching sequins from the Believe in You Sequins and the Alma Mater Sequins. I used a teal Patterned Paper called Gala from the Maggie Holmes Confetti collection to mat the whole layout. This layout came together very quickly and I love how it turned out.
Thanks so much for stopping by. XOXO -Katty
Hello! Katty here to share another layout with you all. For today’s layout I began with a cut file from my Silhouette. It’s a sun and a fun tittle. I backed both with patterned papers.
I am scrapping a photo of my older son Brian when he was about 9 months old. He always had this huge smile on his face. It was adorable. I used one on my favorite stencils, the Ameriacana Pixelated stencil with the Shimmerz Dazzlers in Dreamscicle between the sun “rays.”
I also added some of the yellow and orange sequins from the A day in the woods sequin mix. I kept the embellishing pretty simple. I backed my photo with a navy and yellow patterned paper and all of the ephemera pieces are from a Heidi Swapp ephemera pack.
I also scattered a few of the cork Chunky Stars. This layout ended up being simple but I love how it turned out.

Hello friends! Katty Miranda here to share a fun birthday shaker card. I made this card for a good friend. I am loving this months new sequin mixes. They are so fun. For my card I began with a blue cardstock base. I then took a grey and white stripe paper from the Jen Hadfield Home Made collection. I cut a piece slightly smaller than the blue cardstock. I then cut a rectangle out of the center of that stripe paper and I added foam mounting take to the outer edge of the rectangle. I used this to create a shaker area in the center. I used some of the lovely new Passion Flower sequins as well as some of the Gold Stardust and the Gold Sequin Confetti. I added a piece of foam tape in the center where I knew my sentiment would cover it.
For my sentiment I used a Hero Arts stamp set called Chalkboard Style Messages(CL810) and black StazOn Ink. This card turned out very simple but very pretty. I hope my friend loves it!
Thanks so much for stopping by. XOXO -Katty
