Hello friends! Karla here today with a pretty card and tag set featuring lots of adorable under the sea and mermaid images – and perfectly coordinated Let’s Be Mermaids and A Mermaid’s Tale sequins!
I layered on some older Kaisercraft sea themed paper along with a watercolour strip of blue paper for my card front. I used a corner rounder to round the right side corners of the card and paper before attaching.
These cute Pretty Cute Stamps digital images look great coloured up with Jane Davenport Magic Wand colouring pencils. I’ve been grabbing some stamped or printed out images along with coloured pencils and markers to colour while I’m at my daughter’s soccer games!
Inside, I added another watercolour paper panel printed with a digital sentiment and added a cute little turtle and some more pretty sequins. I’m totally addicted to adding sequins inside my cards!!
For the matching gift tag I layered some pretty papers and my images again, adding a doily and a button with twine. I used an American Crafts border punch to give my layers on the card and tag some more interest. A bit of Nuvo Crystal Drops along the border highlight the scalloped edge.
This sweet little gift tag and card set is all ready to give to my daughter’s friend for her upcoming birthday! And what little girl doesn’t like mermaids and sequins?!!
Hi crafty friends! It’s Karla here today with my very first post on the SpiegelMom Scraps Design Team, and I’m so excited!! I’m going to be bringing you a Creative Card feature and showing you how you can use the awesome supplies from the SpiegelMom Scraps shop on cards – cork, twine, felties, and of course my very favouite – SEQUINS! Today, I’m sharing a sweet watercolour birthday card using a cute otter stamp from Pretty Cute Stamps. Last week my daughter went to a friend’s pool-birthday party, so I thought the otter theme was appropriate! I had an older paper pad in my stash and I wanted to show you that you can still get out those older supplies and use them. I find that I sometimes gravitate towards my newer papers, but when I actually look through my stash I realize how many older patterns I still love <3 Just by layering some of those pretty papers and adding an image with coordinating colours you can pull everything together. I chose to use the Pandora’s Ombre Sequin Mix on this card because of all the beautiful blue tones.
I stamped my cute images on watercolour paper and used some Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers and a water pen to colour in my images. I love that watery-look in the background!
I usually choose three areas to add clusters of sequins to, creating a triangle effect and drawing your eye toward the focal image. Of course I had to use a couple of the adorable mini flowers in the You Are My Sunshine and What’s Up Buttercup sequin mixes on the little otter heads!
I think decorating the inside of your card is just as important as the outside, so I added some more coordinating paper and grouped a few more sequins around the sentiment.
Lastly, I stamped this cute little guy right on the outside of the envelope and used the Pandora’s Ombre Sequin Mix again to create a little wave around him.
The birthday girl was very happy to receive her handmade card, and my little one was so proud to give it to her!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I’ve given you a few ideas about how use up some of your older paper stash and to take your cards to the next level just by adding some pretty sequins on both the inside and out!

Hello my friends!! Jody here today with a quick & easy card share. I created this card for a recent birthday & love how it turned out. I started by embossing a 4.25″ by 5.5″ piece of white Neenah card stock with one of my favorite polka dot embossing folders. Next, I ran it through my Big Shot using one of the Kaiserkraft Stitched Circle dies. In order to have the stitches NOT show on the card, I ran two sheets of that size cardstock through the Big Shot on the side opposite the raised dots. I positioned the metal die where I wanted to create the shaker window and used washi tape to secure it in place. I totally killed two crafting birds with one stone! Now have another card base ready to go for my next card.
After I had my window cut out on the cardstock, I trimmed down a piece of white craft foam and lined up where the window would go. I placed the metal die where I wanted it and again secured it with washi tape before running the foam through my Big Shot. Then I adhered a piece of acetate directly behind the embossed cardstock to create the front of the window. I followed up by adhering the die cut foam on the backside of the embossed cardstock which created an area to add my sequins. I poured about 2 teaspoons of Pinky Pie Pink sequins into the window area and added a few random pink hearts from the Hearts on Fire sequin mix.
After adding my sequins, I put adhesive all around the edge of the circle to create a seal when I added the patterned paper backing to my window. For the finishing touches, I added a wood veneer word from Michael’s Craft Store and some fabulous Maggie Holmes Gold Glitter Thickers, which I’ve been hoarding big time!! Easy peasy!!
Here are photos of the products used to create this fun shaker card!!
Thanks so much for checking out the blog today!! Being the shop owner and always thinking of more ways to accommodate my customers, I’m thinking about adding a few options for cardstock to the shop. What do you think about SMS offering 8.5 by 11″ Neenah white cardstock and 12×12 American Crafts white and kraft cardstock in single sheets? This would affect some shipping methods and costs slightly due to the size of the box needed. I’d love to hear your feedback!
I wanted these felt feathers to be the star in these cards, so I used only minimal supplies. The sentiments are from Mama Elephant Fair Feathers, which I heat-embossed in gold on acetate film. I blended Tumbled Glass distress ink behind the feathers to create a halo for visual interest.
I had so much fun creating these two cards and playing with the pretty feathers! You can pretty much use these feathers on anything, so make sure you go grab yours right now at the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop before they are sold out! Here I used the Pink and Aqua feathers, but any color will work. Well, I hope you enjoy today’s dose of inspiration!
Hello… Ka here with a fun birthday shaker card. I simply cannot wait until Spring! This card had me dreaming of warm weather, smelling the Spring fresh air and walking on green grass! Spring should be here any day now, I hope…
For today’s card, I inked up the cute pup from the Mama Elephant Playful Pups stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored him with Copic Markers. I cut him out by hand and set him aside while I worked on my shaker. I used different sizes of Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Dies to die-cut the cardstocks and Mama Elephant Femme Frames for the scalloped rectangle. I created the shaker window using a stitched duo square dies and the grass using the grassy border dies from Lawn Fawn.
Once everything was cut, I stamped the sentiment on the acetate using Black StazOn ink. The sentiment is from the Mama Elephant Mini Messages stamp set. The final step involved assembling everything together on a Neenah 110 lbs cardstock and an assorted mix of sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps Shop.
Well that’s it for me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s dose of inspiration.
