Scraplifting Kelly Barron with Karla

Hello! It’s Karla here today with a cute baby page, and I’m scraplifting the most awesome Kelly Barron! She’s been our Guest Designer here all month long, and I just love her style!! Here’s the page she designed and you can see my scraplifted layout below. All the info on her pretty page can be found on her blog post HERE.

Scrapbook Layout by Kelly Barron

I’m really trying to get more of Erica’s baby pics into her album, so I grabbed these cute (well I understand if not everyone finds them cute ūüėČ ) pics of her with food on her head. Yup, you know it’s true love when you can watch hours of your baby doing the same thing over and over and never get tired of it, or you see her with food on her head and, well, you just have to take a photo – or three, lol! Erica, who is 5 now, even helped me do the stitching across the corners with the sewing machine. I grabbed some of the new Lisa’s Starry Night and Morning Glow sequin mixes and the Gold Burlap String to coordinate with my page.

The older Echo Park Made From Scratch collection was just right for this page, and you can see how wonderfully the textured vintage Architextures potholder sticker from 7gyspies fits in with it!

I loved the way Kelly used some smaller stickers as part of her title and found some in my stash that would work for me too. I added another of the Architextures mason jar stickers alongside some stickers from the EP collection.

Here’s a close up of the¬†Lisa’s Starry Night and Morning Glow sequin mixes and this lovely Gold Burlap String. Just by pulling specific colours from each one you can see how easy it is to mix and match!

Scraplift Sunday with Crafty Meggy

Hello my fellow SMS fans!! This is Megan and I am up today with a fun and simple scraplift. I was looking through my Scraplift board on pinterest and I found this one with a little mixed media on it.

Don’t you just love it?!! I immediately thought I would try using some Dazzlerz from the shop on the background, but when I actually got to work making the layout I changed my mind. I really liked the idea of using water colors.

jan8scraplift1

This is my final layout and I really love it!

jan8scraplift2

For the water color behind the photo I used Bamboo Leaf Spritz on the whole background and a little bit of Moody Mauve Coloringz.

jan8scraplift3

I wanted to ground the title somehow so I decided to use some Gold Mine Texturez with a chevron stencil I made on my Silhouette Cameo. For the title I had cut out a phrase on my Silhouette and used my Bed of Roses Spritz to make it stand out against the white American Crafts Textured cardstock.

jan8scraplift4

I got the snowflake cut files from the blog. You can find it here.

jan8scraplift5

I also put a little bit of the red spray mist on the snowflakes to have them match the title.

I wanted to do some journaling but I didn’t have anywhere to put it without taking away from the design. I pulled out a mini glassine bag and made a cute little tag. I tied some May Arts Burlap String through the hole I punched to make it easier to grab the tag and pull it out so you can read the journaling.

You can watch my process video below and I explain a little more about the story behind the photo and the tags:

Thanks for stopping by today!! I hope you’re having a great new year so far!!

Make It Yours Monday

Hi everybody, Lisa here with another Make It Yours Monday and I LOVE the layout I have to share with you today!!  I was inspired by the BEAUTIFUL layout I saw on Facebook over the weekend by the talented Beata Valint  (http://myshinystudio.blogspot.hu/2016/08/designer-spotlight-at-scrapbook-expo.html)

I used my brothers scan n cut to cut out the file she shares on her blog. Then, I got to weeding it out!!

After that was completed, I used some Shimmers Coloringz in Keep Palm¬†and i watered it down to get a really light watercolor as well as some¬†Pretty In Pink¬†coloringz. I used a few other shimmers colors (Giddy About Green,¬†Pink-A-Boo,¬†Meet Me @ Sunset, and¬†Pugnacious Purple) to add hints of color to the cut file. ¬† I also used some Dazzlers in¬†Tutti Frutti¬†to hold down the sequins I added to bring more color and sparkle to the page. The sequins I used were¬†Pinky Pie Pinks,¬†Lets Be Mermaids,¬†Moonshine Delight¬†and¬†A Mermaid’s Tale

Then I chose a light teal paper from the Fancy Free paper pad I picked up in the shop and trimmed it down to fit and adhered it on a pink mat and them placed the cut file over top14079798_10210140202922532_1463110331324580575_n

After the cut file was secured (tip, use a fineline bottle for this one!) I matted my photo and used some foam adhesive to pop it up. I added my title to fit around the corner and it fit really nice!

FAB FRIDAY’S: FAM LIFE

Hello everyone! This is my first blog post for the SpiegalMom DT and I am super excited! ¬†The layout I am bringing you today is a traditional layout about family and we all know how that goes! Lol. ¬†Anyway this is a photo of my daughter and her husband who are in the faded background and their two children in the front. ¬†Taken in beautiful Monterey California, you just can’t go wrong with a photo shoot at the beach.¬†

IMG_2978

I just love the colors in this layout and those sequins are right on the spot!  I used the Spiegelmom scraps Wedding Bells sequins and glued them where they dropped.

I used Tombo Mono Multi glue because when it dries, it dries into a matt finish. I also used some ink in Glass Slipper from SC with a stencil of hearts, which gave it a tone on tone look.

IMG_2969

My favorite part about this layout is the hidden journaling, which I used a large¬†Glassine bag to hold a 4X6 journaling card and glued it to the back of the photo, added a tab, and labeled it NOTE, so that you can retrieve the journaling card. ¬†I have done this technique before when I had a layout that was too busy for journaling or when I just want to hide the words. ¬†It’s another way of keeping your journaling private.

Next up… my new process video and layout are up and running finally!! ¬†We had our laptop die on Saturday… awesome right! ¬†So, I’m a bit behind this week, especially after a leak in the basement was super close to my scrap area!! ¬†EEKKK! ¬† But, after a late night session I’m ready to rock and roll again! ¬†Here’s my watercolor background layout, featuring Shimmerz Creameez watercolors!! I’m so lovin’ these watercolors!! ¬†After creating my watercolor background (YouTube video here on how I created it), I began adding some very simple layers of Heidi Swapp Hello Today papers, cork butterflies, pink baker’s twine, Pink Fresh Studio puffy stickers, felt hearts and Dear Lizzy wood veneer ‘Best Ever’ for my title! ¬†

To create my loops of baker’s twine, I simply laid out my twine with the loops how I wanted them. ¬†Next, I added a few dabs of Aleene’s Tacky Glue to the tops of the loops and let it dry for a few minutes. ¬†Then, I added the baker’s twine loopy-banner onto my layout using the same tacky glue! ¬†Pretty easy and great way to use your twine and strings!

I really love how the water color background looks!! ¬†There’s just a little bit of shimmer in the watercolor, which is hard to see in the photos. ¬†It’s so pretty!!

Thanks so much for spending your time with me today!  Please hop over and check out my YOUTUBE VIDEO HERE!
