Hey Girl Layout by Rachel Lowe:

Hello scrappy friends well I am thrilled to be here as a guest designer for the month of November.

Here is a little about me! I live in wonderful Perth, Australia. I am married with four kids, 1 dog and three cats and yes our house is loud and a bit crazy! I am a nurse by profession. I have been scrapping for 10 years now and I love the creative process and the balance it brings my life.

Here is my first layout that was inspired the gorgeous sequins that I received. I wanted to incorporate a butterfly shaker into my layout but when I found a die cut saying Hey Girl I decided to create another shaker. I have used the beautiful sequin mix Road Trips and Sunshine which is stunning with its muted turquoise with a hint of copper.

I am a bit of a cut file addict and use them on nearly all of my layouts whether as a feature or just to add a title. Here I have used a floral heart cut file by Paige Evans Silhouette Design Store. I have also used her latest collection Turn the Page because of the colours and butterflies which was what I had in mind to create.

Shakers are a delightful way to add a feature to your layout and you can never have enough bling! The butterfly shaker I have only layered enough to add my sequins and acetate so it did not seem to bulky and I knew I wanted to attach under my photo but I added several more paper layers on the Hey Girl square shaker as it was going to be my title.

I always add some form of sewing to my layouts whether it be hand sewing or machine sewing, I love the look and how it adds texture to layouts. I am also big on using foam tape and adding to my elements as I am not big on flat layouts. You will see on this layout there is machine sewing and lots of foam taped elements.

Here are some close up photos of my layout:

Thank you for stopping by today and see you next week xxx

Make It Yours Monday~Halloween

Happy Monday and welcome to another Make It Yours Monday here on Spiegelmom Scraps! This month we are featuring sketches, and for this sketch, I have a fun Halloween layout to share with you today. But it’s not of my kids or myself. It was our puppy, Charger’s, first Halloween! And, for a puppy layout, what better sequin mix to use the new Puppy Dog Tails

I started this layout with a subtle pattern paper and backed it on a piece of navy cardstock. Each of my 3 photos, which are 3×4, are also matted on the same navy cardstock as the pattern paper, except the one of Charger. I added a piece of torn vellum behind that one to give it a little bit of difference.

To create the circles, I used my scan n cut, and sized them at 4.5″. Using my T-square ruler, I adhered them to my page and then added the photos on top.  A journaling card, cut the same size as the photos, was placed in the 4th circle after I matted it with navy also.

After the main parts of the layout were down, I brought in the sequins and other embellishments! The Puppy Dog Tales mix was a big part, color wise, for this page. I added them in clusters all around the page and to each of the circles. Some cork starts and chevrons added texture and movement as well. The title went to the bottom of the page, using a large, orange glitter font for the Halloween, and some tiny tile stickers to spell out Chargers First.

A doodle boarder, including some sketchy stars finished this page and I LOVE how this turned out!! I cant believe how quick and easy it came together and it any page following this sketch will look great! Thanks so much for joining me and give this sketch a go!! When you do, be sure to stop the the facebook group, 15 minutes to scrap with Spiegelmom Scraps, and share it with us!! But first, stop by the shop for some of the fabulous new mixes, including the Puppy Dog Tales mix!!

Circles and Sketches and Sequins, Oh My!

Okay! First off, if you haven’t seen the newly released sequins…stop reading this and run to the scrap shop to check them out! There are WOOD GRAIN sequins. This new release was huge, and gorgeous, and I am still so excited to be playing with them!

So anywho, now that we have all drooled over some sequins, let’s get down to business…Ali here, with a super fun layout this week! I love sketches, and November is all about sketches and circles (and sequins, duh).

This sketch is so much fun, I love the grid effect with the addition of circles. I used some Pink Paislee Summer Lights against a dark background to get a pop of color and mimic my children’s excitement at the toy store!

I used my silhouette to cut the circles. Then I popped the whole thing off of the background papers to give it lots of dimension. After adding my photos and embellishments I wanted lots of sequins in that “in between” space. Now, I love sequins in all of their sparkle-y glory. The greatest thing about these mixes is they look great scattered about, just a few here and there, and in big piles…maybe especially in big piles. I just love the way the mixes look as a mix, not just individual sequins. So I took some double sided tape (I use the redline kind) and piled on a ton of Dream Land (which I found to be a fitting mix to use on a layout all about my kids at a toy store!).  So then I was left with a piece of tape covered in sequins (awesome). It was super easy to add that embellishment wherever I wanted! I just love how these little piles of sequins give this layout a pop of fun!

Be sure to check back next week for a new sketch and a lot more sequin fun!

Scrappy Saturday- Good Vibes

Good morning everyone!! I hope your having an amazing weekend, we’ve had a long weekend here and the kids have been having a blast! Our weather has went from freezing to in the 80’s again lol, our weather cant decided what it wants to do here!

But on to the scrapping and pretties!!

This month were playing with circles and this is the sketch were playing with this week. I love playing with sketches and circles are a fun switch up too!! I have to be honest, I usually stick with squares and rectangles, so its fun to break out of my norm.

I loved this months new sequins and I really wanted to play with the Dream Land mix. I want to play with them all but I dont know what a layout would look like with ALL of them on there lol. Anyways, I went through my scrappy stash and pulled out what I had left over from the Girly and strong kit from The Fairy tale club. The kit had everything but the purple in it, and I hate that I didnt use the purple cause its one of my favorite colors! But all the other colors matched!!! And I was so happy about that!

I started out playing with a little Shimmerz on the background. I used Spritz Cotton Candy, Dazzlerz Sea U in the morning and splattered a little Shimmerz Bumbly Bee on there too! I do have to say that I am loving Bumbly Bee, its amazing! The shimmer to it is fantastic! Anyways, back to it. After I let the background dry, I sewed four circles on the background in black thread and then started the layering.

Usually I wait to put my sequins on last but this time I started with them! I pulled out my sequins and started placing them around my sewn circles. I wanted to play with them so bad and loved the way they sparkled!! After I placed them down, I thought I should probably get some pretty paper and pictures put down. So I pulled out some pictures of me, of course playing with snapchat again, lol.

I pulled out some doilies from my stash and laid them in my sewn circles and started layering behind my photos. The papers were bright and fun and I loved the way it was coming together. I had already used all the embellishments that came with the kit so I had to make my own, so I pulled one paper that had pretty roses on it and another that had lip stick on it and started to fussy cut!

For my title, I pulled out a Dear Lizzy die cut word and added some cotton candy Spritz, then added it onto of my doily. Then tucked in a large lipstick for fun and a pretty flower.

I finished the layering behind the rest of the photos, cut down the white cardstock and added the light blue, blue striped paper to the background and was done.

I hope you play along this week with this sketch and make sure to share on instagram and tag Spieglemom_scraps in it!! We’d love to see what you create!! And remember when your checking out at Spieglemom Scraps, make sure to use code SARAH15 when you check out to get 15% off your purchase!

Scrappy Friday – Love Much

Hello There,

As you probably know, this month we’re playing with Sketches and Circles! This is the sketch for this week :

And this is my page….

I’ve decided to document a spending spree in Version Scrap Rennes, an annual meeting for scrappers in France, and this time it took place in Britanny, where I live. This was the opportunity to meet scrappers I’d only met through social medias before, and also, of course, to buy some scrappy stuff! LOL!

To embody the circle, I used the Spiegelmomscraps Doilies (I wish I could sew….)

The Ferris Wheel sequins were just perfect to match the colors of one of my favorite scrappy place in Rennes : The Crafterie. I splattered the rest of the page using color-matching embellishments.

And to make them stand out, I decided to use a gray bazzil sheet.

Hope you like it. Personally I’m glad to keep a memory from this precious moment.

See you next Friday!

Make It Yours Monday~ Loveliest Smile

Hello lovelies! Thanks for joining me today for another Make It Yours Monday!! Today, I have a layout showing you how to create a page combining 2 sequin mixes. I’m using 2 new mixes, Rolling Rustic and Road Trips & Sunshine, coming to the shop November 1st!!!

I began by spattering my white background with Shimmerz Vibes in Sunset Strip and Blushing Vibe and a Coloringz in Moody Mauve. I used a few other mists from my stash as well to create colorful fall foliage behind a tree cutfile I added on top. Using the same mist colors I added an illusion of fallen leaves on the ground with more splatters.

Next, using my scan and cut and the FREE Lovely Leaves cutfile from the shop, I created tiny leaves from scraps of cardstock to emphasize the fall feel. A few of them I added to the tree branches and the rest I added along the bottom of the page. My photos were matted on some teal and navy cardstocks and then on a piece of vellum that I tore the edges of. The larger photo was adhered straight to the page and smaller one was popped up on foam tape. I tucked a few more leaves behind the photos.

I added my title to the top right of the layout and then, got to the sparkle! The New Rolling Rustic and Road Trips & Sunshine were a GREAT pair to add to the tree as well as the “leaf piles” at the bottom!! I love how they warmed up the page and brought a pop of color to tree and the page!

Thanks for stopping by and spending a part of your day with me! I hope you enjoyed today’s project and will check out the shop for some of the amazing products! When ya do…
