Welcome to the first of what I hope will be many sketch challenges with SpiegelMom Scraps! Each month, on the 15th of the month, I will share with you a fresh, new sketch. You will have until the 14th of the following month to play along and share your projects with us. You can do so via the Linky that Jody will put on the sidebar, in the titled folder over at 15 Minutes 2 Scrap with SpiegelMom Scraps or on Instagram using the hashtag #SMSNov2017Sketch, with the appropriate month and year inserted. The winner (one random selected participant) will be posted on the 15th as I share with you the next sketch for the next challenge. The prize up for grabs, thank you Jody, is a $10 credit to spend on whatever your heart desires from the SpiegelMom Scraps store!
So, without further ado, this month’s sketch;
Here’s my take on the sketch;
I used one the new November release mixes, “Happy, Happy Winter” on this layout. I foresee MANY a Christmas/Winter layout or shaker pocket in my December Daily featuring this and “Oh What Fun!”. And the new wood grain sequins’?! Oh my! Really, if you haven’t ooohed and aaaaahed yet, you must go and pay the shop a visit! I promise, you won’t be disappointed! AND, you could win money to pay for those goodies by participating in the sketch challenge!
This is the sketch I followed : And this is my page.
The photo was taken on my spending spree in Version Scrap Rennes, with a very close scrappy friend of mine. To win a contest in one of our favourite scrap shop, we were required to take a selfie in front of the shop wall covered with balloons. The perfect excuse to scrap it afterwards and get a souvenir of this moment. I’m soooo hopeless at selfies!
I also decided to use some of the stash I’ve been buying on that particular day (most of them stamps), as if I were inaugurating them LOL!
Then I splattered my page with some cork embellishments and the 2Cool4U sequins. It gave me the opportunity to scrap in yellow and blue, something I rarely do, and make my page looks as dynamic as my day was!Have a nice weeknd, Love from France,
Hi! It’s Karla back today with a sweet baby layout, using this week’s fun circle sketch (shown below) and using inspiration from the amazing Rachel Lowe, this month’s Guest Designer along with the beautiful new sequin mixes Birthdays & Balloons, Unicorns & Rainbows, and Dream Land! ! Usually when I scraplift I follow the other layout quite closely, but this month I thought I’d use elements from Rachel’s layout and incorporate it into the sketch. I really love the fun pinks and purples in her layout (directly below) as well as the adorable unicorn, rainbow, cupcake, flower and cloud images! I also used the stitching as inspiration – I’ve been really loving how stitching on a layout looks. Here’s a look at Rachel’s beautiful layout:
I started off by taking a pretty floral background paper and layering it with a piece of white cardstock. Then, I cut out my circles to coordinate with the sketch, using pieces of patterned paper as well as a couple photos from a day shortly after my third daughter was born and was home from the hospital. Both her sisters were so happy to hang out with her, and it’s so awesome to look back on these sweet photos now, almost 6 years later!
I stitched through the circles with my sewing machine and then layered on my stamped images. I used a sweet little unicorn digi stamp from Bugaboo Stamps, coloured wth Jane Davenport Magic Wand coloured pencils (how cool is that name?!!) and sat her on a Pretty Cute Stamps rainbow stamp watercoloured with ArtQuest watercolours and embossed (clouds) with Emerald Creek Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder. I love how glittery and puffy this embossing powder is, while still letting the base colour show through. I couldn’t resist adding a pretty blue flower from the Unicorns & Rainbows sequin mix in the adorable unicorn’s mane!
I added some chipboard stickers, regular stickers and a sticker title from several different sheets in my stash. I was really excited to find this cupcake sticker!
Next, I added some felt clouds cut with a Your Next Stamp stitched cloud die. I find that as long as I layer the felt along with a piece of cardstock it cuts beautifully! And, the best for last…. I used three of the amazing new release sequin mixes!!! Birthdays & Balloons, of course Unicorns & Rainbows, and Dream Land!
Today I have my second guest DT layout and I have gone super floral and super pretty. There is no better way to add more pretty than adding some sequins!
I have used a wonderful wreath cut file (Paige Evans Silhouette Design store) and so I could fill one of the flowers with sequins I cut two exactly the same size. I paper pieced the back of the flowers with patterned paper on the first cut file. I then brushed glue onto the largest flower and added my sequins gently pressing them flat and left until dry. I then added my second cut file and glued only on the flower parts so the leaves look like they are floating.
I have used the wonderful Painted Gardens sequin mix which went perfectly with this collection (Cocoa Vanilla Studio Bohemian Dream).
I then added random sequins around my key embellishments such as the bird, feather and butterfly.
I have sewn on some of my embellishments to add texture. I finished off splattering lightly some black colour shine.
I so love this colour combo and my sequin bling!!!!!!!!
Here are some close up photos for you.
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope this layout has inspired you to get out your sequins and add some bling to your day!
Happiest Monday my scrappy friends and thanks for joining me for another Make It Yours Monday. This week, the Sparklers Design Team are being inspired by a really fun sketch from Ashley Horton!
My take on the circles immediately turned to pumpkins! I found a cut file online that was able to be sized accordingly, based on the sketch. I backed each of the pumpkins with some fun fall papers and adhered them in the same pattern as the sketch to a sheed of brown cardstock.
After the pumpkins were adhered down, I splattered some Egg Noggin Vibez around the page. Then, I brought in my photo, which I popped up with some foam tape. I added a label and tiny word sticker over the top left corner.
My title went to the bottom left corner of the photo, along with another tiny word sticker. I added some more phrase stickers to some of the pumpkins and then got to add some sparkle with 2 of our newest mixes. The oranges and navy’s from Puppy Dog Tails and light blue and yellow from The Sorting Hat complimented my layout perfectly!! To finish my page, I mounted the page on a polka dot orange pattern paper and loved the way it finished it off!!
I hope you enjoyed today’s layout and will check out the shop for the wonderful products I used today. When you do
Hey y’all, Ali here! This week we are scraplifting the fabulous Rachel Lowe. We also have a great sketch to work with, so there is no shortage of inspiration! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to scraplift or with work with the sketch…so I have TWO layouts to share today!
My first layout is based on this wonderful sketch, I am loving the circles this month!I created this layout with the Fancy Pants Take Note collection, it is perfect for school photos! I started with circles cut from the 6 x 6 pad and the brag cards. I layered the circles with vellum for depth, and then I hand stitched the details. I love using sequins in place of splatters or small embellishments on a sketch, and the Lisa’s Starry Night sequins were a perfect match! I also used some of the leftover (discontinued) cork embellishments to add more interest because cork goes so well with this collection!
Now on to scraplifting! I love this layout from Rachel so much, it is sweet and whimsical…I have been wanting to lift it for a while but couldn’t find the perfect photo. Then Halloween happened and my cute little genie was the perfect photo to use on this layout!
Instead of the unicorn I created a cut file with an image from the kids show Shimmer and Shine (like my daughter’s costume). I used a Tim Holtz background paper that had mixed media resistant stars. I used watercolors to make those stars pop! Not only was the Unicorns and Rainbows mix a super fitting name for my layout, the colors went perfectly. The tiny purple sequins were great to add to the head piece of my genie. The combination of deeper pinks and softer pinks added just the right pop to my watercolors!
Thanks for checking out my layouts, I hope you feel inspired to scraplift or play with this awesome sketch! Happy Sunday!
