Talent Tuesday

Hello lovely friends! I hope you are having an amazing week so far! I know with it being summer I have been super busy with my daughter and my garden! So today I decided to work on a project using some pictures from our garden last year. It was our first time growing sunflowers and the got really big and beautiful!

So First I took a piece of black card stock and some yellow tissue paper and I layered my two photos on top of the yellow tissue paper.Next I took the Love U Tons heart felts and put them all over the bottom on the black card stock.

I then took the Free Spirit sequin mix and did a couple clusters with the yellow sequins and the flower sequins. I love the way this layout turned out! I always enjoy using black and a pop of color!

This was a super fun layout to create and I loved using Spiegel Mom Scraps products! Thank you so much for joining me this month as a guest designer and I hope you got some inspiration! Head over to the SMS shop and check out the products and get you some amazing products to add to any project!

Make It Yours Monday~ Ice Ice {Cream} Baby

Vanilla Ice Cream, Baby!!! Happy Monday and I hope you enjoy this weeks layout as much as I did creating it!! My layout was completely inspired by the quirky 90’s hit by Vanilla Ice and  I knew just the perfect memory to capture.

My oldest daughter’s first ice cream cone was such a sight! After a long hard day of playing and getting dirty, it was just the thing to cool off with! I decided to document this memory by using some fun summer themed papers.  I started with a piece of pink cardstock, trimmed down, and backed it with a piece of fun sprinkles paper! I then added a piece of kraft cardstock and layer it with the ice cream cone paper and adhered it to the pink. I added a piece of 1″ wide sprinkles paper backed with more pink paper more than half way down.

I backed each of my 3 photos in colors matching the papers, Pink, blue and yellow. I adhered them to the layout and added my title to the bottom with some fun, glittery thickers. I accented with some ice cream cone stickers and added my journaling. BUT, I was not dont yet. Nope, what’s a summer ice cream layout with out a fun, BIG ice cream cone?!

I had SUCH a blast creating this aspect of my layout!! I took some craft and brown cardstock and a cut file to create the cone. After I cut the ice cream top,  I spread some Spun Sugar Dazzlerz to create the look of Vanilla Ice Cream. I added some Morning Dew Drops to the bottom to make the ice cream sparkle and shine!! AND, no Ice Cream is complete without SPRINKLES!!!!  To make the ice cream fun and colorful and sparkly, I used the You are my Sunshine sequin mix to add the sprinkles on top!

SUCH a fun layout!!! I really hope you will give this sweet layout a go and use some of the amazing products from the shop!!!! And, as always…

Fuse It Fun Day- First Day Sillies

Hey everyone! I’m back with my Fuse tool this week! And in keeping with the 90’s theme, I bring you “gettin’ corky wit it”!

Yep, that was a terrible Will Smith reference! Haha! I realized recently that I scrapped my son’s first day of school photos, but not the “outtakes”! I really wanted to capture how silly he was being! I started with a naked tree cut file, and created leaves with cork embellishments. The tree on the right uses the Corky Cumulus embellies as leaf clusters. The tree on the left uses the Cork Confetti Hearts as the leaves! I contemplated painting the cork, but I went with the natural look because it reminded me more of Fall.

After I had the trees figured out I wanted to make a little school house. I created this cut file from free clip art. Once I layered each patterned paper, I fused little pockets of Gold Stardust Sequins for each of the windows on the back of the school house. The stardust sequins are probably my most favorite because they are so versatile and can be used on just about every project! For this layout I just love how they make the school shine!

Some Cloudy Days Felties finished off this little scene perfectly!

I absolutely love how this came out, it is quirky (and corky) and fun, really capturing my son’s personality! I hope you enjoyed it too!

Be sure to save some money when you stop by the scrappy store, and I would love to see how you “get corky wit it!” 🙂

Sketch it out Saturday/Love you

Good morning everyone!! I hope your weekend is going good, we started out with some bad weather and LOTS of rain! But it looks way better today, so thats a plus!

Sarah here this morning to share with you a sketch from Pagemaps

that I used for my layout and our theme this month is the 80’s and 90’s, Now with this layout I used a color pallet to go with the theme. I remember when I was a kid, we always had this furniture that was tan, brown, yellow and little pops of other colors. So I found this collection by Crate paper in my stash and and thought that it matched perfectly with the sequin set, Just beachin it

Now when it came to the sketch I changed a few things, but not much. I had this picture of my hubby and our youngest and I loved the way the photo and frame were set up in the sketch that I loved, I know my picture was a bit bigger and the way the frame when on the picture it pulled more focus to that part and I loved that.

I I wanted a decorative circle where there was the pie type one on the layout, but I wanted it to be a bit more soft, so I added this cutfile. I backed some of the spaces on the cut file and left the center open because I knew I wanted to add the pretty sequins to the center.

I added more embellishments then the sketch showed, I wanted more flowers and butterflies so I layered them under the frame and on the frame, it added just a little more color and dimension.

I didn’t want a solid boarder around the side, So I took all of my scraps and added a tabs in here and there and a cork butterfly, placed them where I wanted around the side and then sewed them down. I went back and added more of the cute sequins around the layout and that was it.

Id love to see what you create with this sketch! And if youd like a bit of a discount when you go get you some goodies from Spieglemom make sure to use this code.

Le Grand Bleu

Hello,

Welcome here for a new Scrappy Friday!!!

Here is my page, looking back on the 80’s – 90’s for the last time….  I must confess that one film really symbolizes these years for me, I don’t really know if you American people have ever heard of it…. It’s “Le grand Bleu” (The Big Blue) and it was a huge success here in France, it really symbolizes our generation.

To decorate my page, I used the Hey Kiddo sequins, as well as the Cork Chevrons and some Shooting Cork Stars.

Here are some details :

See you next week for my next Scrappy Friday!

Love from France,

Christine

Retro Canvas Tutorial with Karla!

Hello friends! Karla here again today to share a tutorial with you, showing you how I created this pretty canvas. Just by following a few easy steps you can quickly create a beautiful canvas for yourself or a gift for someone special! Since our theme this month is ‘Take Us Back June’ I thought this Prima paper doll stamp by Julie Nutting would be perfect, combined with the vintage 7gypsies Architextures papers and Prima armoire tag. I’ve created a little tutorial, so you can see just how easy it is to create a canvas  yourself! @jodyspiegelhoff @spiegelmomscraps @prima @julienutting @canvascorpbrands @7gypsies@modpodge @tatteredangels #mixedmedia #canvas #tutorial #glimmerglam #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #cork #retro #vintage #paperdolls #julienutting #prima #rubons #scrapbook #papercrafting #crafty #modpodge

Step 1- I used a Dollar Store canvas and chose a few pieces of paper – these are from the 7gypsies Architextures paper pad – love <3! I cut and tore them to fit on my canvas.

Step 2 – I painted the edges of my canvas with Tattered Angels High Impact light blue paint, stamped and coloured my Prima doll, paper pieced her clothing and cut out some paper elements (banners) from the 7gypsies paper pad. Ok, how cool are her boots – really?!!

@jodyspiegelhoff @spiegelmomscraps @prima @julienutting @canvascorpbrands @7gypsies@modpodge @tatteredangels #mixedmedia #canvas #tutorial #glimmerglam #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #cork #retro #vintage #paperdolls #julienutting #prima #rubons #scrapbook #papercrafting #crafty #modpodge

Step 3 – I used Mod Podge to glue on the paper elements and the Prima armoire tag by painting a coat of the Mod Podge, laying on the papers, and painting another coat on top. I glued the doll’s clothing on and used Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam to paint the Julie Nutting paper doll chipboard pieces. The Glimmer Glam gives such a high sheen with pieces of glitter – it’s really neat!

Step 4 – I used a clear gel medium through a Tim Holtz stencil and then added Ranger Distress Glitter on while it was still wet so the glitter stuck to the gel. I also added some very cool 7gypsies Architextures rubons around my canvas to give a vintage, distressed stamped look. I glued on a couple more paper elements – these records came in a Retro paper pack from Michaels!

Step 5 – I added my paper doll, chipboard pieces and SpiegelMom Scraps Chunky Cork Heart – which I painted gold with the Glimmer Glam. I hot glued a black velvet ribbon around the edge of the canvas to cover any staples that might show. Now comes the FUN part!! Digging through all my sequins to see which ones I want to use 🙂 I decided to go with Jaded Hearts, Fairy Garden, Neon Summer, Sparkle Power and Free Spirit sequin mixes! They are all so pretty!!

@jodyspiegelhoff @spiegelmomscraps @prima @julienutting @canvascorpbrands @7gypsies@modpodge @tatteredangels #mixedmedia #canvas #tutorial #glimmerglam #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #cork #retro #vintage #paperdolls #julienutting #prima #rubons #scrapbook #papercrafting #crafty #modpodge

I used some of the flowers from a couple different mixes to add to the brim of her hat, using Glossy Accents to adhere them. Next, I grabbed some of the beautiful gold sequins in Free Spirit to add around the picture frame. The message inside is an Architextures rubon, and I covered it with Glossy Accents to give it a glassy look.

The pretty flowers from Fairy Garden worked great to add as drawer pulls on the side table.

I tucked a cool camera in with the records and added some sequins to the drawers of the armoire.

I love the way the gold shines on the Chunky Cork Heart! A few more sequin clusters around the canvas give it just a bit more bling!

Talent Tuesday Shaker TN dashboard

Hello lovely friends! Heather here back with another guest design post! I cant believe I only have one more post after this! I have really enjoyed being a guest designer for SMS!  I don’t know if you all are into the Travelers Notebooks or not, but i am loving mine! Today I have a project making a shaker dashboard for my travelers notebook! This was super fun and pretty easy to make! It was my first time ever making a dashboard! So if I can do it so can you!

First I took a 12×12 page protector and put my travelers notebook on top of it and I left a little room all around it. Then I marked with a sharpie where I needed to cut it. Then I took my paper trimmer and cut it down to the size I needed! I never measure, so this is what was easiest for me. Next I took my fuse tool and fused all around the edges and down the middle, I left the top open so i could fill it with sequins!

Then I took some paper and cut it down to the size I needed. Next I put the paper into the sleeves and then I took Fairy Garden, Sparkle Power, Morning Dew Drops, and the yellow sequins from Free Spirit and poured them into the front sleeve! Lastly I took my fuse tool and closed up the top of the sleeve so that none of my pretty sequins could escape! It looks amazing and I am so pleased with how it turned out!

These sequins mixes are so pretty and I love adding them to every project! They just add the finishing touch to any creation! I hope you all enjoyed this project today and I hope you all head over to the shop and get some of these beautiful mixes! Thank you so much for stopping by today!
