Shake It Sunday with Sarah

Welcome back to another Shake It Sunday!  Today I am sharing a fun 8.5×11 layout featuring some of the gorgeous sequin mixes in the SMS shop.  I got to bust out a ton of new releases for this layout!  It was so much fun!  Here it is:

My daughter and my mother spent spring break visiting relatives in Florida and they came back with a lot of gorgeous pictures for me to scrap!  I opened up new packs of Dear Lizzy Lovely Day, Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams, Shimelle Little By Little, Crate Paper Oasis, and Pinkfresh Studios Dream On.

I started with a 12×12 piece of American Crafts Textured White Card Stock and cut it down to 8.5×11.  I did a little mixed media packaging technique with Shimmerz Creameez in Refresh Mint and I did a few splatters in Piggy Pink.  Then I punched out a bunch of circles from patterned papers in 3″. 2″ and 3/4″ sizes.

I arranged the circles in a diagonal direction and adhered them with my EZ Runner Grand.  I tucked a 4″ Paper Lace Doily and popped my photos up on adhesive foam dots.  I added a Cloudy Days Feltie and adhered it with a couple Tiny Attacher staples.

I filled a Mini Glassine Bag with some of the Strawberry Bubblegum Sequin Mix and sewed it shut with my sewing machine.  I tucked it under on of my pictures.  I added the title and started embellishing.

I stamped the “Hello Beautiful with my Maggie Holmes Gather roller phrase stamper.  I added a bunch of enamel dots and gems from my stash.  I also added two button embellishment and a couple Pinkfresh Studios puffy gold hearts.  Finally, I gave it a good splatter with Heidi Shine in Gold.

I hope you have enjoyed my latest edition of Shake It Sunday!  You can see the YouTube video here:

Watercolour, Cork and Sequins

Morning Friends!

I get these ideas sometimes… they come from seemingly nowhere and won’t leave me until I’ve made it into a tangible project.  This latest idea was to create a watercolour wild meadow with dandelion cut files on top.  I searched all the usual places and even asked my favourite designer if she had anything.  She had one but it wasn’t what was in my head!

So I doodled my own, took a photo and made it into a cut file.  It is not perfect, and it is NOT easy to get off the cutting mat but I got enough off to make it work for me…

I joined 3 together with a simple stitch and then got to work on my background.  I used my watercolour palette which is full of Daniel Smith watercolours.  A little experimenting told me the Azo Nickel Yellow and Kyanite Genuine mix together to make a wonderful green.  I added plenty of splatters – it’s my ‘thing’!

As I was looking through my sequin stash the colour of my cork embellishments caught my eye.  The went with the natural creamy-white watercolour paper and the hues of green perfectly.  I pulled out Wedding Bells, Strawberry Bubblegum and Cork Confetti in chevrons and butterflies.I get the rest very simple; the dandelion heads and painting were enough for me.  I added a simple layer of vellum to the photograph and chose a flair as my title.  I added a sprinkle of my sequins and a couple of butterflies.  I used the chevrons to direct the eye towards the title.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Hello scrapbook ladies!  I just love doing mixed media on my layouts.  The background of this layout was started during a scrap session with my Katty Miranda.  I used a stencil the typical way and then I grabbed a extra white card stock and stamped the excess ink onto this paper.  The effect is very watercolor-y.  And I used Shimmerz mists so there is shimmer there too.

I used a Dylusion stencil with heavy gloss gel and sprinkled a mint green loose glitter on top of it while it was wet.

I used more Shimmerz mists and paints onto the chip board pieces from Creative Embellishments.  These flourishes are very detailed and picks up the shimmer well.  I then picked a few die cut pieces from varies collection that sit on a bowl on my desk.  I am scrapping picture of my nephews with my parents so it was a good time to use some of these pieces I normally do not get to use.

My last detail is always sequins, the colors in Green Acres worked perfectly with the mint green glitter I used.  I randomly put a few around my layout.  If you would like to make a purchase, remember to use Evi15 for a discount.

Make It Yours Monday~ & I’ll Always Love You

Happy Monday scrappy friends and welcome to another Make It Yours Monday. Today, I have a layout for you, and I was inspired by the photo itself! I’m using a photo from my Mom and Step-dad’s (I hate that word!! lol, more like 2nd dad) wedding in 1992!! The inspiration came from the tiny purple flowers in the right corner. I was 9 years old and remember the day so well, and remember the color purple was very prominent that day. So, I chose to honor the memory and, well, use A Lot of purple to scrap it!!!

I started by layering a piece of American Crafts white textured cardstock on a piece of lilac cardstock. I took Grapetastic Dazzlerz, Punked Up Purple Coloringz and the new Don’t be a Pansy Paste-eez and watered down the pastes. I created splatters with all of the purples and set it aside to dry.

Then, I got to my layers behind my photo. I LOVE the new paper from Dear Lizzy’s Lovely Day that has great black and white floral’s. They were beautiful to take the Punked Up Purple Colorings to and spot color some of the flowers. Then, I  rummaged through my scraps box for the remainder of my layers. I backed all of the papers with piece of sparkly tulle and added a beautiful Chantilly lace 8″ doily from the shop to the back of the layers.

Next, I adhered some white crape paper to a strip of cardstock and ruffled them before stitching down the center with my sewing machine. I added the ruffles to the bottom of my photo and that completed the photo layers.

Next, I took a & Then What? cork ampersand and painted some watered down punked up purple colorings to give the cork a tint of color. I added a black ampersand to the bottom left corner of the photo and added a sprinkling of Opaque Orchid Sequins and Wedding Bells sequin’s  in a diagonal.  I used some of the same papers I used in my photo layers to create 3 little banners in the top right corner and continued the sequins onto them also.

In the bottom right corner of the page, I added my title. & I’ll Always Love You, which was also there wedding song!! I added a floral piece from Oh My Heart, a bit of journaling to the left of the title, a doodle boarder with my clean color pens in wisteria and my Layout was complete. I really love how purple it is!!

So, this week, make it yours and be inspired by photos!! Thank you so much for joining me this week and Dont forget to use LISA15 for 15% off all your shop purchases!!!!

Hello scrapbook friends!   Thank you for joining me for today’s layout.  I have a mixed media colorful background and then used black and white elements in order not to compete with the colors.  This is always a great trick when you have a colorful or busy background, print your photos in black and white, so they do not clash with the background.

We have teamed up with Creative Embellishments this month and I am able to play with the gorgeous chip board elements available in their shop.   I recently went to the State Fair and trying all the food is my main objective.  In the course of the night, I had about 8 different foodie photos and thought they would work perfectly with the fork, spoon and knife chip board pieces.

I applied a light layer of silver metallic paste by Heidi Swap on them and set aside to dry before I adhered them to my layout.

I then added mint green paint with wide brush strokes and then mists from Shimmerz in Sapphaire and Jeni B Bleu.  I used scraps of black and white papers and cut them into squares and rectangles as my ephemera.  I clustered and angled my photos and added the squares for more interest around the photos.  I added my chip board pieces as book ends to each photo.

For my finishing touches I added Sweet Pea sequins for the last details on my layout.  If you would like to make a purchase at the Spiegelmom Scraps shop, remember to use code Evi15 for a discount at checkout.

Hello hello!  Have you ever had a birthday party that you just wanted to just dig your face into?  Well my grandson did and it was hilarious.  This was his second birthday party and he just enjoyed his cake so much.  I am a huge cake fan as long as it taste good, but if it does not taste good, the cake gets a good tossing…Lol!

This layout has a bunch of Spiegelmom Scraps goodies on it. Take a look!

I used a Basic Grey collection called Urban Luxe and the ephemera pack. The cork stars are called Cork Confetti and they are from the Spiegelmom shop as well as the larger cork stars called Chunky Cork Stars.  Here is a close up of the stars.

I just love how the Classic Cozy sequins match the colors of the papers!

Here is another close up of the stars. Here is the Chunky stars and the Cork Confetti stars.

The wood veneer is from my stash as well as the enamel dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to stop by the Spiegelmom Scraps shop to pick up some new goodies for your stash!  Have a wonderful day!  Be sure to use Felicia15 to receive 15% off of your first order!

What About Wednesday: Forming layers

Aloha!!! It’s Hannah with you here today! I hope all is well. It has been real busy here, but I am excited for the spring and with that season change more busyness. With that busyness comes more sunlight, weather weather and spring flowers. Oh and let’s not moon rocks. We have those too.

Haha. Ok maybe you don’t have moon rocks.  My five year old son is convinced that he found a real life moon rock. He was so proud of himself for exploring and finding this moon rock.

As a mom, it was so cute. Seeing his face light up in wonder was priceless. So like any other scrapbooker mom I took a picture of this moon rock. Even though I knew this moon rock was not what he thought it was, there was something in me that couldn’t just break his heart and lighten his discovery. I too played along. Now I am making a layout about this infamous moon rock too.

Let’s take a look at the layout I made.

I knew right from the start I wanted the photo of this moon rock to be the focus of the layout. I also wanted to make a loose grid design, by having two smaller squares under the photo. I knew I wanted to try to add layers to these two grid squares to add to the tone of the layout. It’s all about being fun and searching and finding bit and pieces, like my son had explored and found a major discovery for himself.

I used lots of different patterned papers mixed with a glassine bag, shipping tag, vellum and an acetate ephemera amount the layers. I love the way each of these pieces look sticking out in different spots.

On the corner of the shipping tag I added some Navy and grey feltie hearts. I wanted lots of texture among the layers too. I really helps lift the squares of papers and create shadows that look really cool. I mixed tiny staples with big staples to hold down the feltie hearts in other areas on the layout.

This second square I added a gold doily within the layers. I also used dimensional foam in between a layer to pop it up a bit.

I cut some of the circles from one the of patterned papers and scattered them throughout the layout. Everything was on top of the dictionary patterned paper from the Cool Kid Collection from Crate Paper. I really liked all the words it defines and thought it was perfect for this kind of layout about exploring and make believe.

Also scattered throughout the layout I added both My Clementine and Pandora’s Ombre Sequin mixes. These both had colors that were used in both the Shimelle Little by little collection and the Cool Kid Collection.

I formed the title around the photo. I kept the layers around the photo minimal. I wanted the layers to be focused in the the other two squares. This really makes them pop out more.

These Thickers are so cool. They really make this photo stand out.

The journaling was written on the shipping tag and tucked in the layers. I know it could be harder to get in the protector, but I really lobe how it looks tucked in the layers.

This was such a fun story to tell and layout to make. I love how these little pieces that happen daily throughout my life make up my families’ lives. Our Story. It’s so precious even though the rock wasn’t a real one, it still tells of how my son loves to play and has a great imagination. I am proud as a mom that I can help him remember his story.

I love how these products can help tell that story!!
