I started with a few pieces of American Crafts white cardstock. I used one as the base and one for the cut file of leaves. On the base, I splattered some Glorious Day Vibes for some pretty gold shimmer.16832237_10211876403806469_4582393468187328994_n

I then laid the cut file, which was a wreath to start, in each corner and trimmed the extra leaves. I added some pop dots under some of the leaves to make them stand out a bit, since it’s tone on tone. 16641052_10211876403326457_8497898621470489270_n

I mounted my photo, (the sunrise from the morning I learned my Mom had passed) on some gold patterned vellum and navy cardstock. I added it to the layout in the center of the layout to make it the star of the page, 16807731_10211876403966473_7713851077258952295_n

Then, I got to fussy cutting the beautiful flowers, I used Paper 10 from the Pink Paislee Take Me Away collection. I made sure to cut more than I needed to see which ones would fit best where I needed them. I layered them on to the layout and adhered them down when I got the right combination of flower pieces. 16807731_10211876403966473_7713851077258952295_n

The title fit perfectly under the photo’s right corner, and I stayed with the white on white and used some pretty sparkly white Thickers. 16865166_10211876404326482_2618604383938733431_n

This layout really would not have felt finished without some sparkle. The new Morning Dew Drops were the perfect finishing touch. 16649109_10211876403846470_2610927123907361766_n

Make It Yours Monday!!

Monday Blog Header

Hello, Lisa here and Happy Monday! I’m so glad you joined me for another Make It Yours Monday! This week, the inspiration came from a cloud cut file I saw recently. I liked the shape, and the way they fit around a page. I started with my cloud paper punch, but it just was not the same shape. Then, I found my scallop punch and it all came together from there!!

10-3-spl-ft

I started this layout with a piece of  dark blue cardstock. I mounted my photo and project life card on first, a piece of ombre pink paper from the Fancy Free paper pad. Then, I added a piece of mint cardstock behind the pink paper, to tie in the PL card color.

I added atg adhesive in the center of my matted photo piece and placed it in the center of the page. I left the sides unglued so I could work with the paper punches easier. I took the square paper all the patterns from Fancy Free and punched scalloped circles from each of the squares. I cut them in half to have 2 of each. After I laid some adhesive under the photo mat (one side at a time so the photo mat does not stick to the others while your working!!) I lined up the punched scallops, making sure to not get 2 like colors together.

The light pink and teal sequins from the Mocha Mint Dream sequin mix were a great compliment to the colors I used in the layout. I lined the bottom of the photo mat, alternating the pink and teal colors. I added a teal bow from Heidi Swapp to the bottom corner of the Project Life card. Some Gold Heidi Shine and I left it alone!!

It was a quick and easy layout but I think it’s really a pretty design. I hope you will look around and find inspiration in different places, and Make it your own, to work on a layout for you!!!

Monday Blog Header

Welcome back to another Make It Yours Monday with SpiegelMom Scraps!!! I hope you guys enjoyed the amazingly awesome Triple Blog Hop and all the incredible projects that were shared!

Today, I have a layout inspired by a heart shaped tag from my daughters new sneakers and a layout that I found on pinterest. I wanted to combine the 2 and was very happy with the finished page! (I want to apologize for the lighting of my photo’s, but a tropical storm stole the sun and I had to take them inside!)

The only Patterned paper I used for this layout was from the Fancy Free collection. I used the soft mint for the foundation, the peachy pink for the mid section and a bit of yellow, mint and peach to make the banners in the top right corner. I added some gold scallop washi tape to secure the banners. After I notched out a half circle, I added my journaling on a shipping tag and tucked it behind the layout in a pocket.

For the mid section of the layout, I made a shaker tag out of another shipping tag and filled it with Spring Blooms Sequins and Gold Confetti Sequins. I added some doodles to the boarder to keep it from getting lost. I adhered a White Doily doily and layered the shaker tag and my photo over top.

A journaling card serves as my title and a few more doodles pulled the shaker, journaling and the title card together. I sprinkled some of the sequins around the page to bring some sparkle around each section! The scalloped washi tape finished off the middle part and I also brought a piece to the bottom left corner to dress is up a bit, along with some sequins. A few splatters of Gold Color Shine and I was Done!

Artiste Mini Album with Chantilly Lace & Pretty Faces

Happy, Happy Saturday my scrappy friends!! I’m sharing a fun mini album today using the Close To My Heart Chantilly papers and my the exclusively CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge. I love making special little gifts for those special people in my life and mini’s like this are my fav! I’ll get right to it with lots of pictures to share today.

I created this fun mini for my mother in law Dolly for her sister Elaine’s visit last week. I cut my mini album pages using my Cricut Artiste Cartridge, inked lots of the edges and started piling on the layers!

Check out how I added the 4×4 Instagram pictures. I reinforced all the mini album holes with my Crop-a-dile and the large eyelets. I reinforced the holes for the photos the same way. I don’t know about some of you, but when I first started scrapbooking I bought hoards of eyelets and now hardly use them. Ok ladies, dig into that stash and use them!

I added texture of a bunch of the die cuts and pockets by running them through my Sizzix Texture Boutique. I love the extra details the dry embossing adds to die cut or any element you want to adhere to your project! Plus, it’s so fun to actually USE those tools and look so pretty just sitting there 🙂

I included a few pockets & a bunch of shipping tags also. They’re fun interactive elements that Dolly can write on or add more pictures herself.

And you should always ‘bring up the rear’ and do something pretty on the back of your mini album too! I just stamped a simple sentiment from CTMH and adhered it with more Chantilly papers.

And, you’re done! That was a lot of pictures to go through, whew! I hope that I’ve inspired you to create your own mini album with whatever supplied to you have on hand & use your Cricut and embossing tools!!

Happy Scrappin’!!

SN@P 2 It! Fast layouts

SN@P, do you SN@P?  Simple Stories SN@P, that is. At first, I wasn’t too sure about the small pocket pages, but this line is fantastic!!  Not only can you create great 6×8″ scrapbook incorporating lots of pictures and memorabilia, but you can use these same elements on your scrapbook layouts too.  Yes, it’s true! And, it’s fast.  See…

185

This layout came together in less that 30 minutes! I’m totally serious here.  I just cut the diagonal stripe to 6×8″ and placed is off center in the 12×12″ base.  I tilted my 4×4″ Instagram picture and off set it within the 6×8″ piece.  You can see that I punched some clouds with my trusty Fiskars Cloud Punch (I have 3 sizes).  I cut apart a 3×5 bingo card and placed on the top and bottom of the photo, added some SN@P Stickers and Flair Badges, spattered some inks, stuck on some washi and added my overlay for the title.  Don’t be scared of these transparency overlays!! They’re awesome to use. You can layer them, just like I did below.  GOOD. TO. GO!

188

This one came together in about 40 minutes, but only because I was being a putz, LOL… Any-hoo, I used one 4×4″ and two 3×3″ Instagram photos here.  I trimmed one of the SN@P border stripe papers to include the sections I wanted, then built my layout up from there.  I adhered my photos and tucked some of the polaroid cards behind them, along with more transparencies.  These SN@P border & element stickers are so fun!!  There are so many shapes and fun sayings that you’ll have something for lots of your projects.

So, that’s how I SN@P friends!  These layouts are also featured in the Spring 2013 Memory Works Look Book, available for download for FREE ~ HERE!!   I’m also working on a SN@P 6×8″ album so I’ll be sharing that soon!  Until then, happy scrappin’!!

Stamping with paints!! Krafty Hearts Blog Share Wrap Up

Kraft-y Heart Blog Share

It’s been a fun three days of sharing my new Close To My Heart Projects.  I think I’m sharing my favorite project today, saving the best for last!  Today, I’m sharing how I stamp with paints.  It’s pretty easy actually.  All you need are your stamps (wood mounted, acrylic or cling), a foam brush and some acrylic paints.

I started with the lovely Chantilly paper set and the June SOTM; A Flowering Bunch.  This stamp set is very fitting for this time of year, don’t you think?!  First, I layed out my papers and cardstock with my picture.  I used a 4×4″ Instagram picture of our daughter, Sari.  I just love this dress and matching headband!  I wanted to break up the color with some black and white, but not TOO much.  I added some torn pieces of the black and white script paper from the For Always paper set.  It also seemed to help ‘tell a story’ about this photo with the script writing.  I like to look for things like that to add into my layouts.. just a tip for you there!

002

Next, I stamped a bunch of floating flowers that lead from the edges of my layout, into my focal point.  I adorned most of the flowers with some CTMH Clear Sparkles and the Chantilly Fabric BadgesThese are very similar to vintage buttons, only they are adhesive backed and ready to adorn your scrapbook page or any other project you have in mind.

003

I love this flowering border stamp, but I didn’t want to stamp it black or color in all the petals and leaves either.  This scrapper has to find ways to create her layouts fast!!  Any workin’ Mamas out there can relate, I’m sure.  So, instead I stamped the border with white acrylic paint.  You can see that I layered different pieces around my photo.  You can go HERE to learn how to create easy layers on your projects.  NOTE: I wash off my stamps right away so the paint doesn’t dry in all the crevices.

004

This lovely stamp set is only available this month!! So, don’t delay and pick one up today.  You can order directly through my website HERE.  The June Stamp Of The Month is $17.95, or only $5 with a $50 order.  That’s a fantastic deal.  Host a party, on-line or in person, and earn FREE products fast!

Extra Special Teacher’s Gift~a Baby Mini Book

Happy June and to the end of this school year!  Ok, some of you may not be jumping for joy at the thought of kids in daycare for the summer.. I totally get that dilemma believe me!  Kuddos to us working Mom’s who somehow make it work!

Today I’m sharing a very special teacher’s gift.  Yes, I did spoil this teacher a little.  Ok, a lot!  She was Sari’s kindergarden teacher this year, who will remain nameless for her privacy.  None the less, she deserves some special recognition.  Sari came home nearly every day amazing us with what she was learning.  It started with her ‘sight words’, then double-digit math and reading!  We were so impressed with what Sari learned this school year that I wanted to give her teacher something special.  Hmmmmmm, what to do??  Then, this winter we learned that she was due with her first baby in August, a daughter!!  Bingo!! I knew exactly what to do for her!

So without further adieu… a baby girl mini album!  I used the Teresa Collins She Said collection.  I love using the 6×6 paper pads for mini albums.  The patterns are shrunk down to the 6×6 size so you don’t lose any details or miss out on the entire pattern.  I also used the 12×12 She Said Sticker Sheet, which contained so many fun elements and alphas!  The base of my mini album are some papers from my stash (Crate Paper I believe).  I adore the white on Kraft floral print!  It’s very soft and pretty.

To create the album base, I trimmed a 12×12″ sheet of patterned paper in half to 6″ by 12″.  Then, fold the 6×12″ piece in half to form the 6×6″ album base.  You can easily layer a few of these to create a mini book.  Just one sheet of 12×12″ paper gives you a great sized mini album with eight pages to decorate and add photos!

DSC_0214 DSC_0217

You can see below that I used a chipboard banner sticker (Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm) upside down.  The tags it’s attached to pulls out!  Her teacher can use it for journaling some sweet baby stats or some small photos of her darling baby girl.  Since the chipboard sticker is hanging over the top of the tag, I just attached some scrap paper to the back of the chipboard sticker that coordinated with the next page.

See those white felt flowers?  I cut those myself on my Cricut.  Say what?!  Yes, you CAN cut things other than paper and chipboard with your Cricut.  You just need to follow a few simple steps.  (More on that coming soon!!)  The flower centers are from the same chipboard sticker sheet as the banner (Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm) and little pearls are also from ZVA!  They’re a very inexpensive embellishment, $1.90 for 127 individual peals.  They add such a cute little touch!

DSC_0218 DSC_0219 DSC_0221

Below, you can see the top of that chipboard banner sticker poking out on the top of the left side, next to the No. 1 sticker.  This simple technique adds another fun element to your mini album, along with the dark Kraft tags from Ranger that are on the right side.

DSC_0224

To create the pocket for the larger tags, I adhered two pages together on three sides.  I left the top of those two pages free of adhesive to create the fun pocket.  I used these Kraft tags from Ranger, but you could also use the coordinating patterned paper to create your own custom tags!  I topped them off with a pretty cream colored seam binding.

DSC_0226 DSC_0229 DSC_0231 DSC_0232 DSC_0233 DSC_0234

As you can see, I kept the design pretty simple.  I didn’t want the mini album to be too bulky.  But, by layering different patterned papers and stickers you can still give the pages some dimension and interest.  And, a doily here and there never hurts either 🙂  I also mixed in some other stickers from the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collecion.  All the Memory Works products have been linked up directly to the Memory Works website.  Contact me to order directly!  Thank you for visiting my blog today.  I hope you were inspired to create and try something new!

Coming soon…

1).  Storage and display ideas for you mini albums.

2).  Cutting more than paper on your Cricut!

Until then, happy scrapping!
