Good morning everyone!! Sarah back again this morning with a fun little layout of my little girl and camping last fall. This child’s hair crazy!! lol It rained while we were camping and we played in the rain and her hair curled up into messy little ringlets! So of course I had to capture it!
I had pulled out my Maggie Holmes, Gather collection and my Spieglemomscraps Morning Glow sequin mix, they went together perfectly! I loved the paper I had chose for the background, one because its just so pretty and two, because I don’t use patterned paper much as my background and have been trying to do it more. To tone it down a bit though, I did had a sheet of vellum and then started to build my focus from there.
I wanted my layout to be focused across the center of the layout. I added a white photo mat to my picture, added a doily from Pretty little Studios and placed it in the center of the layout and built out from there. I grabbed one of the cut apart sheets from the collection and cut a few of the pieces down to look like banners. I tucked the darker blue one to the left of my photo and then went through the ephemera pack and pulled some of my fav pieces out, like the cute little acetate bear with the bow, some leaves and a few pieces to layer under my photo too.
I tucked the little bow bear in and added a few leaves and moved to the other side of my photo.
On the right side of my photo I tucked in a plaid tag and added one of the pieces I had cut out from the cut apart sheet. I tucked in a few more leaves and added some stickers with sweet little sayings and moved to the bottom of my photo to add a few layers.
Some of the piece I had pulled from the ephemera pack previously, I started to layer in under the bottom of the photo till I was happy with the way they looked, then I added a few more stickers and my beautiful Morning Glow sequin mix to the layout and that finished it off for me!
I hope you enjoyed this layout and I hope you come back to see what all the other Sparklers make!! And make sure to use my code at checkout to receive 15% off your order!!
So happy to meet you again on Spiegelmoms Scraps blog!
I’m here today with a card, just like last week, which is a bit unusual for me since I don’t make much cards…..
But I thought this one perfectly fits the Build a Snowman sequins…. and the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dream papers perfectly fit the May Theme.
This time, I didn’t use inks or pastes, just matted different papers together. The sequins give the final sparkling touch. This is what I really love about sequins, they highlight any project you make, giving it the last touch it needs!
Even if I don’t make many cards, I do like making them because, again, it is part of the process of sharing. You create a project, but for someone else, in order to make a surprise. And I like surprising people. Who doesn’t like to receive a happy mail?
This one will fly to England, it is a modest present for my 400th follower on Instagram. This is also what I love about scrapbooking and social media. You can share with people from all over the world on a click! How fantastic! I can’t (and don’t want) to get used to it!
See you next month for a new Scrappy Friday, and this time…. no card!
Have a nice weekend!

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be here, especially on such a fun weekend! National Scrapbook Day is always so much fun! Have you hopped over to Instagram to check out all of the fun challenges the Sparklers have for you? My challenge is Star Shine- make stars shine on your layout! And that is exactly what I did! Here is my Star Shine layout, the gorgeous Gold Stardust Sequins make this challenge super easy! I also added some amazing Cork Confetti Stars from some shiny gold thread!
One of my favorite elements of this layout is the shaker bow! I have always thought the Fuse Tool is so cool, but I don’t do Project Life, so I didn’t think I would use it often. Well, I finally got one and I am absolutely loving it! I use it so frequently, I wish I would have grabbed one sooner! In the spirit of loving my Fuse, I am going to be showing you how I use it every Sunday Fun Day with Fuse It Fun Day! For this project I used a bow template and created the little shaker bow! I filled it with those gorgeous Gold Stardust Sequins, and isn’t the result just the most darling little embellishment?
If you wanna see how I made the shaker bow, here is a quick tutorial on how to do that!
Another element I adore are the hanging cork stars from the Wild at Heart frame! Super quick and easy, but so much fun- and, it’s all in the details! Right?!
I could add those stars to every project! They are fabulous!!
Thanks for joining me for my first blog post, I hope you will check in for Fuse It Fun Day every week!
Happy hump day all! Today I’m sharing a layout I’ve been working on in very short amounts of time over the last week or so. I’ve posted some works in progress photos of this on my personal Instagram account which you can check out HERE. I’ve been very intentional with my crafting and gone back to my “15 minutes to scrap” philosophy. It truly works for me! This means that I work on a layout or other project in very short amounts of time, usually between 10 and 20 minutes. Many of you know that I’m a busy mama of 5 AND work full time. That’s just plain chaotic at times! If you have a little space to dedicate to your crafting, try it out! Or, try setting up a card table in a corner of your living room and keeping some basic supplies out to work with. It’s worth a try!
For my layout, I used one of my favorite new lines… My Minds Eye, On Trend. I found these amazing My Minds Eye papers at an awesome local scrapbook and stamp store in a nearby town ~ Polka Dots and More! It’s been in business for about 10 years, but I never knew it existed! For shame!! It’s a fabulous shop with monthly specials and classes! You’ll find all your favorite scrapbook and stamping brands, plus a warm small business atmosphere! They also have a great YouTube Channel with lots of short and informative videos!
Here’s my layout. I started with a peachy colored sheet of cardstock that’s been in my stash FOR-EVER!! On it’s own, the cardstock color doesn’t appeal to me at all. But after I brushed some gesso over it and began to layer the On Trend, Stampin Up and Project Life products over it, I began to love it! I also heat embossing the word ‘love’ right onto the Project Life card to serve as my title. You can check out a close up and short video of that HEREon my SpiegelMom_Scraps Instagram account.
After brushing the cardstock with Gesso and letting it dry my cardstock was a little warped but that didn’t really bother me. I think it added more interest to my layout. I began adding layers of On Trend paper, a 5×7″ glassine bag, a Project Life 4×6″ card, Stampin Up vellum with gold dots, Amy Tangerine paper and some super cute tags from the Target Dollar Spot!
To finish off the layout, I added several of the On Trend Ephemera popped up with foam adhesive, some lovely lace and trim from Allison Kreft, gold resin roses from Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper and a Heidi Swapp stamp using my black Memento ink (above the gold number 2).
Thank you for spending your time with me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed my layout! I’ve also linked up the new challenged posted over at The Studio Challenges. One of my lovely Design Team gals, Kat Benjamin, is on their DT and I’ve been wanting to make time to participate in their awesome challenges for months now! Check them out! This month’s challenge is to use pink, black and gold. The pink here is more peachy, but I totally love this color combo! There’s also some hot pink in the tags from Target 🙂
I cannot tell you how awesome it is to be creating recently! I’ve continued to be super busy stocking and packing new goodies for my Etsy Shop and designing some more fun stuff coming in May. I’m also continuing to burn through my scraps of left over kits and other purchases I made before Two Peas in a Bucket closed their cyber doors.. so sad!
And so now I digress to tonight’s layout! I used a hodgepodge of papers here from Echo Park, Dear Lizzy and another I’m not sure of anymore!! When I mix up a few different papers, sometimes I find it easier to scrap with a black and white photo. This doesn’t get much easier that a simple filter in Instagram! I have to say I have the best little models 🙂 Here’s a picture I snapped with my iPhone of Abby ‘reading’ us a bedtime story a couple weeks ago.
I’m always excited to create on a white card stock background too! A clean slate. This allows me to really stretch those scraps of patterned paper to the max! Take a closer look at the white card stock….
Yes, you see it now don’t you 🙂 I used a fun Kesi Art stencil with some Gesso and Distress Ink mixed together. I love how this turned out, just a hint of texture in the background without being overwhelming! Here are a couple more pics.
Another thing I really love to work into my layouts is some contrast. It doesn’t have to be black on white or anything that drastic.. but just some nice contrast. That’s where my love of cork and wood veneer comes into play. I’ve created a few new cork embellishments (some of which are self adhesive) like these fun cloudswhich will be in my shop this weekend!
Breaking news here today!! I’m revamping my shop over the holidays and would LOVE to hear what YOU want!! I’ll be giving away $10 in product to someone who leaves a comment with what they’d love to see in my Etsy Shop in 2015! That’s right $10 in product of your choice!!! You also get an extra entry if you share on Facebook and other Social Media and stop back to tell me you did! Easy peasy!
Meanwhile, grab some stocking stuffers for yourself and some friends with this 60% off coupon good in my Etsy Shop tonight through November 30th at midnight CST! Thank you!!
Yesterday’s Fall catty blog hop was a blast! I had a great time seeing the new projects in action by some of my fellow MemoryWorks DT gals. That being said, I couldn’t help but to create more because there’s so much to see with these MME patterned papers!
I used American Crafts white card stock for my base and began layering with a 10×10″ piece of Adorbs. I brought in some pink card stock to boost up the pinks in the papers and frame my photos. I love the pink & green color combo and the fact that the green patterned paper supports my fun outdoorsy photo of Abby. This silly girl was so funny going through the sprinkler & playing with the grass this summer!
Can you tell have a current obsession with enamel dots and sequins!?! I love the shine of the enamel dots and the bright sparkle of the sequins. They go fantastic with my girly pages. The sequins also come in a variety of colors including royal blue, aqua, gold, silver & black. Try them out! The black ones look really cool on Halloween projects as they’re glossy but not overbearing.
Here’s a close up of how I created my little flags. I just cut a thin strip of patterned paper and wrapped it around a Maya Road stick pin. I glued the paper around the pin with some tacky glue and then layered them along the sides of my layout using some foam adhesive to pop them up. Pretty simple & cute!
Thank you for spending your time with me again today. I hope I’ve inspired you to try some new techniques and products. You can download your own copy of the new Fall Memory Works Catalog by clicking on the picture in my right side bar. It will download as a PDF file.
Prize alert! I’ll be announcing my randomly chosen prize winner from yesterday’s Memory Works Blog Hop tonight after 8:00pm. The winner has 5 days to contact me & claim their prize & must be in the US.
Also, welcome to my new followers! I’m looking forward to hangin’ out with ya here!
I SN@P, do you SN@P? Simple Stories SN@P, that is. At first, I wasn’t toosure about the small pocket pages, but this line is fantastic!! Not only can you create great 6×8″ scrapbook incorporating lots of pictures and memorabilia, but you can use these same elements on your scrapbook layouts too. Yes, it’s true! And, it’s fast. See…
This layout came together in less that 30 minutes! I’m totally serious here. I just cut the diagonal stripe to 6×8″ and placed is off center in the 12×12″ base. I tilted my 4×4″ Instagram picture and off set it within the 6×8″ piece. You can see that I punched some clouds with my trusty Fiskars Cloud Punch (I have 3 sizes). I cut apart a 3×5 bingo card and placed on the top and bottom of the photo, added some SN@P Stickers and Flair Badges, spattered some inks, stuck on some washi and added my overlay for the title. Don’t be scared of these transparency overlays!! They’re awesome to use. You can layer them, just like I did below. GOOD. TO. GO!
This one came together in about 40 minutes, but only because I was being a putz, LOL… Any-hoo, I used one 4×4″ and two 3×3″ Instagram photos here. I trimmed one of the SN@P border stripe papers to include the sections I wanted, then built my layout up from there. I adhered my photos and tucked some of the polaroid cards behind them, along with more transparencies. These SN@P border & element stickers are so fun!! There are so many shapes and fun sayings that you’ll have something for lots of your projects.
It’s been a fun three days of sharing my new Close To My Heart Projects. I think I’m sharing my favorite project today, saving the best for last! Today, I’m sharing how I stamp with paints. It’s pretty easy actually. All you need are your stamps (wood mounted, acrylic or cling), a foam brush and some acrylic paints.
I started with the lovely Chantilly paper set and the June SOTM; A Flowering Bunch. This stamp set is very fitting for this time of year, don’t you think?! First, I layed out my papers and cardstock with my picture. I used a 4×4″ Instagram picture of our daughter, Sari. I just love this dress and matching headband! I wanted to break up the color with some black and white, but not TOO much. I added some torn pieces of the black and white script paper from the For Always paper set. It also seemed to help ‘tell a story’ about this photo with the script writing. I like to look for things like that to add into my layouts.. just a tip for you there!
Next, I stamped a bunch of floating flowers that lead from the edges of my layout, into my focal point. I adorned most of the flowers with someCTMH Clear Sparkles and the Chantilly Fabric Badges. These are very similar to vintage buttons, only they are adhesive backed and ready to adorn your scrapbook page or any other project you have in mind.
I love this flowering border stamp, but I didn’t want to stamp it black or color in all the petals and leaves either. This scrapper has to find ways to create her layouts fast!! Any workin’ Mamas out there can relate, I’m sure. So, instead I stamped the border with white acrylic paint. You can see that I layered different pieces around my photo. You can goHERE to learn how to create easy layers on your projects. NOTE: I wash off my stamps right away so the paint doesn’t dry in all the crevices.
