Hi friends! Karla here today with a fun sparkly New Year card to kick off 2018! I recently picked up some fun Shimmerz products from the SMS Shop – Shimmerz Gold Glimmer Blingz and Hi Ho Blingz, which are liquid metallic paints and Puttin’ On The Glitz Paste-eez, a sparkly texture paste. I love using gold and silver together on New Years cards, and these were fun to work with! I also grabbed three different sequin mixes – In The New  Year,  Rollin Rustic and Blue Moon to use in the shaker portion and on the front and inside areas of my card.

It’s the last week of our ‘tools’ theme, so I thought I’d run you through the steps I used to create this card using some crafty tools I have. I started off by using a cutfile that the awesome Laura Rumble created, which I uploaded to Cricut Design Space. Then, I cut it out using the negative cut as the shaker portion and used a gold pen and the write tool to write my message for the inside of the card (shown below).

I used some plastic packaging, some Tattered Angels Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist and the gold and silver Blingz to smoosh the card background with the metallic watercolours. I also used the gold to paint over the Hello diecut for a little extra sparkle.

The glittery Paste-eez was neat to use with a Heidi Swapp star stencil to add a little more subtle texture and glitz to the right of the card front.

I grabbed the three sequin mixes I was using – In The New  Year,  Rollin Rustic and Blue Moon, and put a few from each package onto the area of the card that would be the shaker. After adding a piece of acetate behind the numbers and some double sided foam tape around the edges, I carefully pressed it on the card.

I love the look of the Shimmerz Gold Glimmer Blingz painted onto the hello diecut cut from black cardstock, and this pretty star from the ‘In The New Year’ mix looks great on the card front!

Here’s a look at the inside where I used the Cricut pen tool to write my sentiment using a gold pen. I outlined parts of the lettering with a black pen after to highlight the words and then added some more gorgeous sequins!

Scrappy Friday – Just to say Hello

Hello there,

So happy to meet you again on Spiegelmoms Scraps blog!

I’m here today with a card, just like last week, which is a bit unusual for me since I don’t make much cards…..

But I thought this one perfectly fits the Build a Snowman sequins…. and the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dream papers perfectly fit the May Theme.

This time, I didn’t use inks or pastes, just matted different papers together. The sequins give the final sparkling touch. This is what I really love about sequins, they highlight any project you make, giving it the last touch it needs!

Even if I don’t make many cards, I do like making them because, again, it is part of the process of sharing. You create a project, but for someone else, in order to make a surprise. And I like surprising people. Who doesn’t like to receive a happy mail?

This one will fly to England, it is a modest present for my 400th follower on Instagram. This is also what I love about scrapbooking and social media. You can share with people from all over the world on a click! How fantastic! I can’t (and don’t want) to get used to it!

See you next month for a new Scrappy Friday, and this time…. no card!

Have a nice weekend!

Love from France,

Christine

Sketch it out Saturday/Sweet photograph

Good morning everyone!! Sarah here this morning to share my 1st layout for Spiegelmom Scraps and I’m excited about it!! I hope your Saturday is going well. Last night was a bit rough, we had some nasty weather come threw, but its bright and sunny this morning!

Ok so back to the layout I made, lol. I love to play with sketches! Sometimes I stick really close to them and then other times it ends up looking completely different then the sketch! And I love the fact that a sketch can jump start your creativity when your a bit stuck. This is the sketch I used for the layout I made today:

I found this layout on Pinterest, like I do a lot of my layouts, but it came from ScrapFriends.comAU, unfortunately there isn’t a link to the site anymore.

I grabbed an older WeR Memory Keepers paper pad from my stash called It Factor and pulled that stripped paper for the background. Then I reached into my DT pack and grabbed the pretty Shimmerz Texturez in The tide that binds and a stencil from my stash. Instead of checkers on my layout I wanted to use circles, I grabbed a little dabber I have and dipped it in to the texturez and started dabbing away at the bottom side of the page. I loved the way it looked so I added some to the top of my layout too.

I grabbed a few papers out of the paper pad and did a bit of layering behind my photo and added a tab that said love from a little bucket I have with lots of random pieces from random collections from the past, sitting on my desk. I wanted some flowers in on this layout, so I grabbed a pack of flowers that went with an older Maggie Holmes collection and popped one to the left side of my layout along with a cute little sticker from a Dear Lizzy collection. I had 2 collections of sequins that went perfect with this layout, the colors were a perfect match!! Gotta love Emojis and Jaded Hearts! Both collections are so beautiful and added the bling factor that I was wanting. Side note, lol, But I know how Traci Claiborne from the Scrap Gals is always talking about how they don’t like to splatter glimmer mist or other mists cause it cant be exact or might mess the layout up, Sequins are a perfect alternate to that!! I think at least lol, different sizes and you can place them where you want, without having to worry about messing anything up!

I added my title off to the right of my picture, those cute acetate words from Pink fresh studio and another leaf from the Maggie Holmes die cut pack. Then I moved to the top of my layout and started layering bits and pieces from the Pink Paislee Cest La Vie ephemera pack and a few more bits from the Maggie Homles ephemers pack. I added a flair button from an old Hip Kit kit and then went to adding more of those beautiful sequins!

I really hope you enjoyed this layout and would love to see you play along with the sketches and your pretty Spiegelmom Scraps stash too! Make sure to tag us on Instagram so we can see your creations!!

Welcome to my new blog!!

This has been a long time coming, but here it is!  I’ve tossed around the idea of starting my blog for months, literally.  Well, I finally pulled the trigger and here I am!  After months of some “research”, which was basically scouring my favorite blogs, websites and scrapbooking manufacturers, I decided that it’s time.

Blog ~v~ My Website:  what did it for me was having a running feed of posts, and being able to search for older blog posts if you saw something particular at one time, but has since been hidden. With my website, which I’ll still keep current, I have to delete information all together to add more recent information.

So, the blog has begun.  Now, I won’t be blogging every day, but I will keep you up to date on my scrapbooking news and events. You’ll see the latest in scrapbooking products from the annual CHA Trade Shows (Craft & Hobby Association) when my Memory Works goodies are showcased  here.   I’ll also be sharing my tips and fun techniques along with way.

Join me a fun crafty journey.  Sign up to “Follow Me” and you’ll see that SpiegelMom Scraps! is the blog-place to be~

Thanks for stopping by my new blog.
