Make It Yours Monday- Warm & Cozy at the Patch

make it yours monday

Happy Monday ( I know, lol) and welcome back for another Make It Yours Monday! For November, we are doing what we are calling a Sketch Swap. And, we are teaming up with Let’s Get Sketchy!!! (…) We are so excited for this team up!!! This first week, we are using a sketch from our very own Sarah Scraps!!!  I hope you will join us and play along!

For my layout, I decided to use our theme this month, Warm and Cozy. I was instantly drawn to the photo of my Mia in her crochet pumpkin hat!

I started by using my Dreamscicle Dazzlerz through my Tim Holtz Pumpkin stencil across the middle third of my page. Then, I splattered some gold Color Shine and set it all aside to dry.

I then turned my focus to my photo cluster. The Simple Stories Pumpkin Spice collection was on my desk, so I chose some of the papers to use in my cluster. I added a piece of vellum to the bottom layer to give a soft break between the photo cluster and the background stenciling. I added my 4×4 photo and added some foam tape to the back.

In order to get my Doilies to match my layout, I misted them with Mandarin Mai Tai Coloringz and a layer of gold Color Shine. They were the perfect colors to compliment the papers in the photo cluster! I adhered them to the back of the photo and by now, the texture paste was dry, so I placed the photo and layers to the layout.

A 2″ strip of the Pumpkin pattern paper to the right side was a fun way to keep the pumpkins going and some shapes from the Icon sticker sheet were great touches to put around the layout, as well as some of the tiny word stickers. The alpha’s wound up being a great color to compliment everything, so Warm & Cozy were spelled using the warm Rusty colored ones.

The Newly Released 2 Cool 4 U sequins and Cozy mix both had great colors to finish off my page. From the 2 Cool 4 U mix, I pulled out the Blacks, Peachy Oranges, and yellows while the Cozy mix had a perfect shade of Red and light blue to go along with the papers and my photo. They lend a great pop of color and wonderful sparkle to keep your eyes moving around the layout.

A banner from the ephemera pack in the top left corner and my journaling added under the stenciling and I was done. And, I LOVE it

I hope you guys will all play along with the sketches this month, there will be a new one each week. The team from Let’s Get Sketchy will be providing the sketches for the last 2 weeks of the month. Use them to draw inspiration, and add your own twist, Make it Yours! Today, I used pumpkins instead of the butterflies, but kept to the main structure of the sketch.

Best Ever with Evi

Hello my wonderful scrappy friends!  I have a bright and colorful layout for you today.  I challenged myself to use a few products found in her shop.  The Pucker Up Pink Dazzlers used for the stencil work, the Passion Flower sequins, the white dollie and the large glassine bags for layering are all found at her shop.

I started our with a polka dot stencil I cut from my Cameo and used the Pucker Up Pink Dazzler pastes by Shimmerz Paints.  They are shinny texture paste and they are all gorgeous.  Once that was dried I adhered Passion Flower sequins to the outer edge of some of the dots with Scotch Quick dry glue.

The large glassine bags I cut to different sizes as a multi layer pieces and I managed to even squeeze a white dollie into one of the layers.  I love the look of all the different textures each element brings.  I added some white crepe paper to the outer edge for a ruffle effect.

I finished my layout off with a 3D bow and my title Best Ever from a Thicker collection in my stash.  No layout is complete without some gold Color Shine splatters.  Thank you so much or viewing.  Remember to use Evi15 at checkout for a discount on these products.  I have linked my process video down below.

More He Said, She Said

Here’s a little more He Said, She Said!  These are my cards from the March Memory Works Express Kit.  I really enjoyed using these papers… so many different patterns, so many possibilities!

Wanna make this easy paper flower??  Just punch 4 circles (I used my 1 1/2″ Fiskars Squeeze Punch) and crumple them up.  I inked the edges and creases with Tim Holtz Distress Ink, then began to fold 3 of them in half unevenly.  You can play with this a little until you get the look you want.  I folded a small section inward and then folded it over again.  You can see this is the photo above.  Secure the 3 folded circles onto your 4th circle using glue dots or other strong adhesive.  I punched a smalled scalloped circle for my center, also inking it up.  Add a few stickers for an easy greeting and there ya go!
