Creative Cards with Karla – Autumn Blessings!

Hi friends! Karla here with a lovely Fall card ready to give out for Thanksgiving! Here in Canada it falls on this Monday coming. Seriously, I don’t know how all my US friends can wait till November ūüėČ We are having friends and family over on Sunday for a big turkey dinner and I definitely wanted to get some cards ready to give out. Fall is my favourite time of year, and I am really loving the Echo Park ‘A Perfect Autumn’ papers. I grabbed some of the new Peachy Keeny and Morning Glow sequin mixes to add shiny sequiny goodness! Those tiny peach flowers are so adorable!!

I combined the pretty pumpkin digi stamps from Craftin’ Desert Divas, printed on kraft cardstock, with a sentiment stamp from Pretty Cute Stamps and some pretty scrolls from Pink & Main stamped with Distress Oxide Ink. A Spellbinders diecut created a pretty panel for my focal image.

Inside, I used a couple stamps from a wonderful Pink & Main stamp set – Thankful. I love the Autumn Blessings sentiment!

Stamping with paints!! Krafty Hearts Blog Share Wrap Up

Kraft-y Heart Blog Share

It’s been a fun three days of sharing my new Close To My Heart Projects. ¬†I think I’m sharing my favorite project today, saving the best for last!¬† Today, I’m sharing how I stamp with paints.¬† It’s pretty easy actually.¬† All you need are your stamps (wood mounted, acrylic or cling), a foam brush¬†and some acrylic paints.

I started with the lovely Chantilly paper set and the June SOTM; A Flowering Bunch.¬† This¬†stamp set is very fitting for this time of year, don’t you think?!¬† First, I layed out my papers and cardstock with my picture.¬† I used a 4×4″ Instagram picture of our daughter, Sari.¬† I just love this dress and matching headband!¬† I wanted to break up the color with some black and white, but not TOO much.¬† I added some torn pieces of the black and white script paper from the For Always paper set.¬† It also seemed to help ‘tell a story’ about this photo with the script writing.¬† I like to look for things like that to add into my layouts.. just a tip for you there!¬†

Next, I stamped a bunch of floating flowers that lead from the edges of my layout, into my focal point.  I adorned most of the flowers with some CTMH Clear Sparkles and the Chantilly Fabric Badges.  These are very similar to vintage buttons, only they are adhesive backed and ready to adorn your scrapbook page or any other project you have in mind.

I love this flowering border stamp, but I didn’t want to stamp it black or color in all the petals and leaves either.¬† This scrapper has to find ways to create her layouts fast!!¬† Any workin’ Mamas out there can relate, I’m sure.¬† So, instead I stamped the border with white acrylic paint.¬† You can see that I layered different pieces around my photo.¬† You can go HERE to learn how to create easy layers on your projects.¬† NOTE: I wash off my stamps right away so the paint doesn’t dry in all the crevices.

This lovely stamp set is only available this month!! So, don’t delay and pick one up today.¬† You can order directly through my website HERE.¬† The June Stamp Of The Month is $17.95, or only $5 with a $50 order.¬† That’s a fantastic deal.¬† Host a party, on-line or in person, and earn FREE products fast!

Easy ornaments with Simple Stories SN@P!!

When I received the December Express Kit from Memory Works.. I thought I need to do something different with the contents!¬† Simple Stories SN@P¬†papers, cardstock and stickers, a chipboard mini album, some buttons and ribbon.¬† HMMM, the gears were turning and soon began to smoke!¬† I started to get out an array of supplies and tools… my Tim Holtz Rosette Dies, Stickles, WASHI tapes, sugar glitter and Mod Podge….I GOT IT!!¬† I’ll make Christmas ornaments!¬† Voila!!

While the Mod Podge & sugar¬†glitter¬†was drying on these, I was going through a ton of pictures I just printed for Grandparents.¬†¬†I came across pictures I printed from my iPhone.¬† Our girls know how to use our iPhones too well for being 4 and 5 years old, LOL!¬† It’s crazy, but real life around here.¬† They managed to use a pink photo filter on this picture of Sari and Beka, which is so funny!¬† I love the ‘look’ on their faces… priceless to say the least!

I love these papers, and the SN@P line is one of my new favorites.¬† You can easily layer their cute washi tape stickers over the elements already printed onto the papers, just like I did on this layout.¬† I added a few different WASHI TAPES from My Etsy Shop including a teal diagnal stripe, solid pink and solid blue.¬† You can’t go wrong when you add WASHI to any project!!

Keep on scrapping!!

just popping in quick

…to ask you a question & to share a layout I did this week! My question is about KITS!¬† What do you look for when purchasing a kit?¬† Leave me a comment under this post before my crop this Saturday at 9am, telling me what are ‘must haves’ in a kit and you’ll be entered to win… A custom kit from me!

… some thoughts:¬† how many cardstock pieces?¬† how many of the same piece of patterned paper? ribbon, twine, burlap string? inks or mists? LO ideas?

Bring on the comments!  What matters to YOU?

And now for the LO…..There’s lots of Studio Calico here! I added some scraps of October Afternoon papers I had, a cut apart Jenni Bowlin 5×7″ Bingo card, Canvas Corp Mini Kraft Bag, May Arts 1/4″ ribbons (red & brown check), wood buttons (in my Etsy shop!), and some burlap string.¬†

A couple of my fav’s are the fun chipboard clouds from Studio Calico.¬† The chipboard clouds are very neutral in color, so I added some Mr. Huey’s Mist in Bonny Blue to them.¬† I didn’t spray it on through..instead I sprayed a little in a cup and painted it on for a more even look.¬† I also love the Studio Calico Tissue Scraps!¬† I used the same color and painted the ink right onto the tissue scraps, then zapped it with my heat gun to dry it faster.¬† I was being impatient yesterday!¬†¬† Then, I rolled the inked tissue around a Cosmo Cricket Gluber (like a huge glue dot!) and make the circle/flower.¬†

The chipboard letters are also from SC.  I left the journaling space blank for my sister to fill in when I give this LO to her!!

Pop up the clouds for some fun dimension!

If you like the papers used in this LO & you’re attending my crop this Saturday…then you’re in luck!¬† These papers, ribbons, Kraft bags, buttons, JB Bingo Cards¬†& more¬†will be available at my crop at great prices!!¬†
If you can’t come to crop, stop in to shop!!¬† We’ll be having some special fundraising items between Noon and 3pm!!¬† Some generous Tupperware, Lia Sophia and handmade jewelry girls are donating a portion of their proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Foundation with me!!!¬† Hope to see you there this Saturday.
That’s all for now!¬† Thanks for stopping by again.
