Awesome little brother

Good morning everyone! Sarah here this morning to share with you my take on a layout by Missy Whidden!

Oh my! I was quite intimidated by this one! I love to watch Missy scrap away on her youtube channel, but I definitely cant scrap like her! But I sure did have fun trying! This is the layout of Missy’s that I chose to scrap lift:

I went for way different colors on my layout and well I guess theme too. This one is all boy!

I chose to use the Crate Paper, Cool kid and the Deck the Halls sequin pack, it went perfect with this collection!

I started by choosing the papers I wanted to punch my circles out of, added some glimmer mist with the packaging technique and then placed my circles down on my layout. I added the top and bottom strip too and then sewed them all down.

Then I moved on to embellishing. I added a pennant banner to the left of the photo, where Missy had had an arrow. Then I moved on to the right side where I added the title.

I matted my photo, added layers of vellum, I think Missy used tissue paper, but I didn’t have any, so vellum worked for me! I added a frame to the right of the photo and then added 3D adhesive to the rest for it all to be popped up and then placed it down. I grabbed my thread and made two thread nests and placed them to the upper left of the photo and then down behind my title. Then I grabbed my sequins and had fun playing with them, adding them here and there around my layout.

I hope you enjoyed my layout. I think Missy is amazing and I love her work! Thanks for coming by and checking  out what I did today and I hope you come back and check out all the fun stuff that’s coming in August too!! So much fun to come!!

Girls Just Wanna Have Sun

Happy Sunday everyone, Ali here, with a super sunny scraplift! We are devoting the entire week to scraplifting the fabulous Missy Whidden! Now let me tell you, that is a tall order and I was super nervous about this! But I actually really enjoyed it and I love the layout I created!

Here is the layout I chose to scraplift, I absolutely love everything about it! Missy has such a distinctive style, and it is totally her own! I wanted to do it justice, without just copying it completely.

I had these fun selfies of my mom, sister, and me at the pool. So I knew I wanted to use the new awesome echo park collection Summer Dreams. So instead of the large star die cuts, I went with suns! I started with some watercolors to create a background in the color scheme. Then I added the suns and machine stitched around them (which was definitely a task!) and I absolute love the look this creates!

After the background was complete it was so simple to add my photos and some layering behind them. I used one of the stickers from the collection as my title. And of course, the best part, sequins! I mixed one of the mini packs with Orange Blossom  and sprinkled those around. Then I picked out a few of the light blues from the Ferris Wheel mix, just to tie it all together! Those little shells are perfect for summer scrapping, I just want to sprinkle them on everything!! Lastly, I typed my journaling and printed on some vellum. It is one of my favorite things to do, especially with a mixed media background, because I sometimes hate covering up all of that hard work!

As you can see, I tried to make this my own, but the inspiration from Missy definitely shines through!

Here are some close ups so you can see those amazing sequins up close, aren’t they fabulous?

Thanks for joining me for this scraplift week, be sure to come back next Sunday, I will have another Missy lift for you! And as always, save some money on your gorgeous sequins with this coupon code!

Scrappy Friday – A card

Hello Creatives!

Amongst all the challenges this month, this one is, by far, the most difficult for me. Even though I totally enjoy and admire sewing and stitching on other scrappers’ pages, I personally don’t have a clue on how to do it on my creations.

To be perfectly honest with you, I’ve spent a whole afternoon trying and starting again, before realising what is obvious : I certainly do NOT have the talent to do it.

However, I still wanted to take part in the challenge, so I decided to work on a smaller scale. That’s why I’ve made a card!

I just used some inks ans stamps to create the background and I stitched along the lines of one of my favorite stamps. That was it! I did it! LOL!

I then used a cork star to decorate the happy birthday tag.

See you next week for another Scrappy Friday!

Trendy Tuesday-You+Me Happy

Good morning everyone!! Sarah here this morning and I have a new layout to share with you all! So this week is stitching week here at Spiegelmomscraps, so of course I’m going to have stitching on my layout, but I’ve also noticed a big trend of layouts with circles on them. So thats what I did this week.

I grabbed Crate papers Hello Love collection, pulled out some of the papers I wanted to play with and of course went with the Fairy Garden sequins from the shop.

I laid my circles where I wanted them across my layout on a diagonal and decided I would cut my picture in one too. I have seen it all over and havent cut my pictures into shapes in forever, so I thought I would go all in and do it with this layout. I stuck my circles down and instead of adding a mat behind my photo, I pulled out my water color paints and painted a black circle that would show from behind the photo. once it dried I  added some 3D foam adhesive to pop it up and stuck it down.

I pulled out my ephemera pack, stickers and some of the chipboard sheet and started to play. I added a few flowers pocking out from behind my picture. Then I went trough and pulled different hearts and some arrows here and there.

I had all my papers down and started stitching around my circles in different colored embroidery thread. I love the texture it added to the layout! I have sewn on a few layouts in the past but this made me want to do it even more!!

After I finished my stitching, I added in all the chipboard and stickers and started adding my oh so pretty sequins. To finish the layout, I grabbed my water colors that I already had out and started splattering in different colors.

I hope you liked this layout and I hope you will join in on the fun this week and stitch on a layout with us!! And make sure to use this code and head over to the Spiegelmomscraps shop and grab you some pretties too!

Scrappy Friday – Happy Birthday America

Hello Creatives!

Here I am with July second week challenge : Scrap a birthday you normally wouldn”t…

I immediately took the opportunity to celebrate the American National Day…. And here is my page. I find it quite ironic that I’m publishing it on July, 14th, which is France National Day. As if to highlight the link between our two countries!

Why did I decide to pay a tribute to America?

First because this is a country I’ve already visited, and which I will visit again (next trip is scheduled for April, 2018, I’m sooooo looking forward to it!!!)

Then, because I’m an English teacher and I’m in love with the American language even though its accent is quite hard to get used to at first.

Then, America is the first country to have trusted me as far as scrapbooking is concerned and enabled me to be part of Creative Teams. Thus, I am now so happy to have virtually met talented and nice American scrappers.

To make my page, I decided use the Honor Guard sequins, because of their color, obviously.. I also used blue and red texture paste which I spread on numbers and stars.

Then I decorated a Birthday card with the sequins and added some felt hearts and cork stars. I also added a flair, again, using it as its colors perfectly matched my theme.

Then I used various stamps to fill the empty spaces.

Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July, see you next week for a brand new Scrappy Friday!

Love from France,

Christine

Tuesday’s Talent – Celebrate!

Hi everyone!  It’s your July guest designer Melissa Renkawitz, back again with another installment of Tuesday’s Talent!

My challenge for this week was to document a birthday that I normally wouldn’t.  After giving it some thought, I came to realize that our dog Oliver is a HUGE part of our family, but somehow doesn’t get celebrated as such… so this theme was a great inspiration to show him some love! And as it turns out, his birthday is this month!

I created this layout as an 8.5×11, because I plan to insert it into my Project Life album, and I like those occasional inserts to be smaller than 12×12.

I printed a few smaller photos from when Oliver was a puppy in black and white, so that my “current” photo would stand out.  To help anchor these on the page, I stitched a small strip of patterned paper (from Pinkfresh Studios) down the left side margin.  It’s simple, but I like the detail it adds- especially with this metallic copper thread.

Tucked under the top photos, I added a small glassine bag with SMS sequins from the “Sparkle Power” mix.  Spilling out from the bag, I added a scattering of more sequins down the right side of the page.  Over top of the bag, I placed my journaling which I typed on the computer and cut into strips.

To the lower right corner of the photo I added a few puffy stickers, for some extra color and dimension.

Below the photo, I added my title using a combination of an acrylic piece (from ColorCast Designs) and acetate letters (also from Pinkfresh Studios) which I stitched in place.

And that’s about it for today’s layout.  It was such a fun challenge to document a birthday I normally wouldn’t!  Go hop on over to the SMS shop and pick up some sequins to document your own birthday layout!!!

Trendy Tuesday- Celebrate

Good morning everyone!! Sarah here this morning with a new layout with a birthday theme. As you’ve probably noticed, this is birthday week! And were to scrap something we don’t normally scrap birthday wise.

So this week I scrapbooked my 31st birthday. I don’t normally scrap my birthdays, maybe the big years, milestones, but that’s about it. So here it is.

I have had a bunch of this Crate Paper Confetti collection in my stash and decided to use it since there are so many different sequin packs that match it!!

I started off by layering some of the papers and an ephemera piece behind the photo and adding a glittery star and a cute little now. I figured it’s a layout about my birthday, so why not!?

I’m not big on journaling where others can see it,especially when it’s about personal things, so I grabbed those little pockets and adheared it down, grabbed two of the tags from the ephemera pack and did a little journaling, slid them in and started adding a 3d cupcake and a cute little stacked pin.then I saw that cute balloon and decided, why not, it’s too cute!

I added my photo and it’s mats to the right of the little pocket and then moved to the bottom of the layout. I grabbed that chipboard banner and added it. I had those cute tassels in my stash and popped it behind the pinwheel and added that in the middle of the banner.

I wanted something to the far right of my layout, so I added two strips to the side and it brought a little color to my layout.

I broke in to my major stash of speigelmom sequins and started to play! I used three different collection, black tie event, Ferris Wheel, and Girly Glitter. The colors in these matched perfect to this collection and I love the bling that they add to the layout!

Thanks for coming and checking out my layout this week and make sure to check out all the great projects by the rest of the team, there on youtube, Instagram, here and on facebook!!
