Scrapping in 15 minutes & heat embossing!

Happy hump day all!  Today I’m sharing a layout I’ve been working on in very short amounts of time over the last week or so.  I’ve posted some works in progress photos of this on my personal Instagram account which you can check out HERE.  I’ve been very intentional with my crafting and gone back to my “15 minutes to scrap” philosophy.  It truly works for me!  This means that I work on a layout or other project in very short amounts of time, usually between 10 and 20 minutes.  Many of you know that I’m a busy mama of 5 AND work full time.  That’s just plain chaotic at times!  If you have a little space to dedicate to your crafting, try it out!  Or, try setting up a card table in a corner of your living room and keeping some basic supplies out to work with.  It’s worth a try!

For my layout, I used one of my favorite new lines… My Minds Eye, On Trend.  I found these amazing My Minds Eye papers at an awesome local scrapbook and stamp store in a nearby town ~ Polka Dots and More!  It’s been in business for about 10 years, but I never knew it existed!  For shame!! It’s a fabulous shop with monthly specials and classes! You’ll find all your favorite scrapbook and stamping brands, plus a warm small business atmosphere! They also have a great YouTube Channel with lots of short and informative videos!

Here’s my layout.  I started with a peachy colored sheet of cardstock that’s been in my stash FOR-EVER!!  On it’s own, the cardstock color doesn’t appeal to me at all.  But after I brushed some gesso over it and began to layer the On Trend, Stampin Up and Project Life products over it, I began to love it! I also heat embossing the word ‘love’ right onto the Project Life card to serve as my title. You can check out a close up and short video of that HERE on my SpiegelMom_Scraps Instagram account.

After brushing the cardstock with Gesso and letting it dry my cardstock was a little warped but that didn’t really bother me.  I think it added more interest to my layout.  I began adding layers of On Trend paper, a 5×7″ glassine bag, a Project Life 4×6″ card, Stampin Up vellum with gold dots, Amy Tangerine paper and some super cute tags from the Target Dollar Spot!

To finish off the layout, I added several of the On Trend Ephemera popped up with foam adhesive, some lovely lace and trim from Allison Kreft, gold resin roses from Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper and a Heidi Swapp stamp using my black Memento ink (above the gold number 2).

Thank you for spending your time with me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed my layout!  I’ve also linked up the new challenged posted over at The Studio Challenges.  One of my lovely Design Team gals, Kat Benjamin, is on their DT and I’ve been wanting to make time to participate in their awesome challenges for months now!  Check them out!  This month’s challenge is to use pink, black and gold.  The pink here is more peachy, but I totally love this color combo!  There’s also some hot pink in the tags from Target 🙂

~ Do something creative today!
