Aloha!! For Christmas My parents came to visit and we did a couple of things out and about. I took my DSLR with me to get some good and nice shots while out. I am so glad I did too. Having a nicer camera than my phone really makes the difference between nice shots and photos and AMAZING shots and photos.

After editing my photos in Photoshop, I arranged them on a template sized at 8 1/2 X11. I had the idea of printing my photos, thinner and longer. I wanted to try to do something different, even if I wasn’t sure what that would be.

I added three images to the 8 1/2X11 template and printed that out on my HP Photosmart Printer with glossy photo paper.

Changing up the size of your images is a great way to spark creativity in your projects. Even if you don’t print at home like I do, many printing companies offer different sizes when you order.

Let’s take a look at the finished layout!

I love this shot that I took in Poulsbo, Washington. This water dock shot is almost as pretty as it was in person. I love how it stretches across the layout, which is why I choose to scrap in the 9X12 size.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the words Docks and Bay. I picked a font from my computer that had a Viking feel. The town of Poulsbo, is all things Vikings. The buildings and colors felt like you were walking down an Norwegian town. This font had that feel as well. They are nice and big and draw your eye right towards the photo.

I also cut the tickets from a patterned paper and scattered them near the title but also throughout the layout. Layering the tickets with Thickers and Cork Stars make a nice little cluster.

I used a post card ephemera piece from Maggie Holmes Gather (the colors from this collection went so well with my photo too) for my journaling.

I clustered more ticket ends, cork stars, and mocha mint dreams sequins together on the journaling card.

At the bottom of the picture I layered a gold doily with the ticket ends, cork stars and mocha mint dream sequins. I used some chipboard pieces from Ali Edwards Story Kits as well. The sentiments were perfect for a road trip.

I love how this gold doily peaks out though. It really catches your eye to the bottom of the photo.

Also added a half gold doily up at the top of my layout with a wood grain tab layered with a ticket stub and cork star.

I really enjoyed using a different size photo for a change. It allowed me to focus on the photo, especially since it was a gorgeous shot. having it span across the layout really just made it the focal point.

I hope you are inspired to try out using a different size photo than what you are used too. If you do don’t forget to share it over at our Facebook group too.

You can also watch the process video for this layout.
