let's scrap

sewing with love on a Paper Bakery Sketch

Lately, I’ve been doing some messy scrapping, as I like to call it.  Painting, inking and now I’m sewing!  I have always adored how stitching looks on cards and layouts, but have been a big chicken to try for some reason.. weird since I paint on my layouts!   So, a couple weeks ago I had my hubby get my ancient portable sewing machine out of storage.  This thing was dusty! Whew!  It’s a Kenmore model 158.13512 and works like a charm!  SEW… I started to sew!  I have to say that’s is sew easy!! If you’re on the fence about trying it, just go for it!

To celebrate sewing on my layouts, I’m playing along with the Paper Bakery Sketch Challenge this month.  Here’s sweet sketch #8.

Here’s my take on the sketch.  I used Amy TangerineCrate Paper Maggie Holmes and DIY papers, Maggie Holmes Washi paper, Crate Paper The Pier Empheria Pack, Studio Calico NEW Tiny Hearts, Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm Flair and some Thickers from my stash.  I also used the NEW GOLD DOILIES that are now in my Etsy shop!  Love these!

I sewed around the outside of my layout and under where all the number 3’s are laid out.  I just love the gold thread I found in my dusty sewing bin too!

I used a bunch of different number 3’s from my American CraftsThicker stash.  This was inspired by Dear Lizzy awhile back  I just love her background filled with the letters in this layout!

I also painted on my background to tone down the floral pattern just a little bit.  I wanted the photos to stand out a bit more from the background and a little bit of Craft Smart paint did the trick.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you’ll try some painting and sewing on your next project.   Check out the Paper Bakery for more sketch inspiration!   Until next time..

Happy Scrappin’!
