Fancy Pants & Clique Kits Pep Rally!

may 21 pep rally

Welcome to our blog share today, featuring the new Fancy Pants line called As You Wish!  You should have arrived here from Gia’s blog.  If you didn’t , no worries!  The entire line up is on the Clique Kits blog HERE.   Our blog share theme this month is “Be Brave” which can have so many meaning behind it.  I decided to “Be Brave” and use the map paper to try and inspire you to use it and NOT the B-side of the paper (which is also super cute!).   I also thought “Be Brave” applied to our Hannah learning to read.  She’s been doing great with all the books her teacher sends home each week but she was getting a little board with them.  She decided she wanted to tackle a much harder book than she was used to reading.  So here we go! Hannah, lets be brave together!

Here’s my first layout with the funky As You Wish map paper.  I totally couldn’t get enough of these rich papers and gold accents, but I think people may have a hard time using this type of paper with a very themed or specific print or pattern on it.  This was a total challenge for me too!  I tried to think of the map paper as supporting a theme or idea behind my photo of our daughter Hannah reading.  I think when a child, or anyone for that matter, reads it can open up a whole new world for them to explore.  In this manner, I feel the map paper was very fitting for this picture.  I also used a combination of the wonderful journaling cards to create my long-winded title “A travel, wander, fall in love and let’s get lost kind of day.”  I also used a 6″ gold foil doily to accent the rich papers and add some texture with some punched cork shapes and Freckled Fawn wood veneers.  I also added some fabulous cream Twinery Twine that has a gold thread running through it… so lovely!

Here’s my next “Be Brave” layout.  Our little Abby is 2 1/2 years old and afraid of nothing and always on the go!!  These are a couple pictures I snapped with my cell phone camera last month.  One minute she was playing in her bed during naptime, 5 minutes later she was out like shout while ‘reading’ her current favorite book.

I absolutely LOVE the gold foil sheet from Fancy Pants.  There are so many fun possibilities with this paper.  I chose to create some punched shapes with mine using my Stampin Up! chevron punch.  I used a simple grid to layout my photos and embellishment clusters.  I added some new Chic Tags Wood Veneers from the newly released Cloud 9 collection.  Aren’t they cute!  Besides the fun Fancy Pants journaling cards, I added in some felt shapes from my stash, sequins, a Simple Stories cardstock sticker “Hello” and some must have Basic Grey Label Stickers

Thank you for joining us today for this month’s Pep Rally blog share!  Next you’ll be heading over to Clique Kits own Erica Thompson‘s blog.  I know she’ll have something fabulous for your to swoon over!  Now get hoppin’!

What a great idea, to use that map paper conceptually instead of literally. On the second page I love all of texture, with sewing and felt and foil. Gorgeous!

Your layouts are perfect Jody as always–such a great idea to record memories of the girls reading! I have hoarded the map paper- I know its dumb-because I could just buy more than one- but it still feels like something has to be really special to use on that paper!!! It will likely be the last layout I do with the May kit! Thanks for the inspiration!!
