Creating A Washi Tape Background~a wedding layout

So, do you have more washi tape in colors & patterns and now you’re not sure what to do with them all?!  Easy fix my scrappy friends!  Here’s one fun way to use some of that beautiful washi tape!

Use your washi tape to create a background or frame your focal point photo.  In this layout, I used the new My Minds Eye blue washi tape that comes in the big 8 pack!  It’s a fantastic deal at only $13.00 for all 8 rolls and there great colors too.  Needless to say, I have a few of these packs.

To create this layout  the first thing I did was splatter some Mr. Huey’s Powder Blue ink across my 12×12 American Crafts white cardstock.  I let the ink splatter be my guide for my photo placement.  Then, I laid down several stripes of washi tape, tearing them at their edges. Next,I layered on more papers and stickers, which is one of my favorite techniques.  Remember, only use adhesive in the middle of those papers you layer so you can tuck more scrappin’ goodies under as your build your layout.

I added some random sequins from my stash, including some cute little ones from Hero Arts.  I tucked some doilies from My Etsy Shop around my photo, along with some Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic paper.  I topped off this photo of my beatiful cousin Mandy and I on my wedding day almost 8 years ago with a cute Maggie Holmes Fabric Frame, Amy Tangerine white woodgrain Thickers and some ZVA bling.

The brown butterflies you see are actually some Tim Holtz Tissue Tape.  I almost forgot I had it, but now it’s with my washi tape collection, I mean supplies 🙂

…and I can’t seem to create anything without adding a couple Studio Calico Wood Veneers or May Arts Burlap String (I used the ivory burlap string here).

Using washi tape to add a splash of color onto white cardstock is a fantastic way to use your washi tapes & stretch your other supplies at the same time.  This is less expensive than using a whole sheet of patterned paper to create a layout & this looks lovely with wedding photos!  Brad and I have been married almost 8 years and I’ve only created 2 layouts.  No I’ll never be caught up, but its all part of the process around here.  Scrappin’ 15 minutes at a time!
