Make It Yours Monday

I’m SO excited to be back with another Make It Yours Monday!!! This week’s layout is special to me! It’s an original sketch, my first ever!!!

My layout was inspired by my living room photo display…

I Started with a piece of wood grain paper from Simple Stories. I cut out the center and backed my photo with the inside piece. I layered a Medium Glassine Bag under the matted photo and then layered another piece of wood grain paper as the final mat.  I adhered 3 Normandy Doilies, cut in half, to the top and bottom of the matted photo for some texture.

I set aside the photo cluster and began to work on my background. I cut down a piece of white American Crafts cardstock to about 10×10 and splattered some Shimmerz Coloringz in  Heidi Ho Blue and Pretty in Pink across the center as well as some Gold Heidi Shine.

Next, I moved onto the messier (my favorite) part. I started with some Spun Sugar Dazzlers and Rose Gold glitter paste from Bo Bunny. I used a burlap stencil from Tim Holtz and created my 3 areas of mixed media. After it was dry, I edged the white paper with Walnut Stain Distress ink.

From there, I adhered my matted photo to the center of the page. I tucked a shipping tag into the bag layer behind my photo for my journaling.

Then, the FUN stuff! The embellishment’s for this layout were so fun! I used a scrap strip of the wood grain paper to make a cluster just above the photo and attached a scrap of doily left over from the other cut pieces from earlier.  This cluster also got some of the awesome Cloudy Day Felties and a Cork Star that I added some dot details to make it look like a starfish! Some green sequins from the pretty mix A Day In The Woods and some blue from the beautiful Lets Be Mermaids mix finished off this cluster.

I added some more Cork Stars, again with the dot details, to the bottom left of the photo with some sequins from the same mixes and a wood veneer star. The top right corner also got the same fun little details. I added my title right to the photo and I was done!

I cant even get over how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Layout!!! I’m so glad you joined me this week for Make It Your’s Monday because this really does show you how inspiration can come from ANYWHERE or ANYTHING!!!
