Love Layout with Laura

Shake It Up Scrapbooking

Hello, Laura here today to share a shaker scrapbook layout with a process video.

I assembled my giant shaker pocket with vellum and super sticky tape.  I reckon almost any transparent material can be made in to a shaker pocket, and narrow tape or a line of stitching with a sewing machine are my favourite ways to attach the edges.

I have used: Crushin’ on Purple sequin mix, doily, tag and wood veneer all from SpiegelMom Scraps

Gauging the amount of sequins for your shaker pocket is an art… I like to hold the edge closed and give it a shake and find I often don’t have enough.  You need a fair amount in the pocket to give the best effect, especially in a pocket this size.  Aren’t those teeny tiny stars adorable?  I love them mixed with the larger stars too.

I coloured my wood veneer with a silver pen.  To give a nice base to colour on to, and to get the best colour from the silver I added a thin coat of white gesso first.  The silver seems to look more silver over white than it does over the plain wood – does that make sense?!

You’ll find more details about the rest of the supplies listed on my blog in a couple of days.  Don’t forget to add the code Laura15 at the SpiegelMom Scraps shop checkout to receive 15% off!
Thanks for looking, I’d love to hear what you think!
