Sketchin’ with Crafty Meggy

Hello SpiegelMom Scraps fans!! This is Megan and I am here today to share a layout I made with the sketch that Sara Scraps whipped up for this weeks challenge. I really loved this sketch and thought about doing a couple different things with it. In the end, I was inspired by a recent layout I watched Katty Miranda make for a new YouTube series. She used her Shimmerz Paints Mists to make a cute background and I wanted to do something along the same lines.

Here’s the sketch:

sarascrapssketch

This is the layout I made.

sarascrapssketch1-1footer

I really loved the butterflies on the sketch, but I’m still in the process of setting up my scrap studio. It would’ve been way too much work for me to pull out my Silhouette, so I thought using the sprays would be a fun alternative.

sarascrapssketch1-2

One of my favorite things to do is to use a small glassine bag and fill it with sequins. I used the secret new Holiday Traditions sequin mix (it’s so new and secret that it isn’t in the store yet! 😉 lol).

sarascrapssketch1-3

I really love this cute photo of my middle son eating pudding when he was a toddler. He was a really messy eater! Isn’t it cute for toddlers to be messy eaters?!!

sarascrapssketch1-4

The sprays I used were Before Dawn Vibez, No Yoking Coloringz, and Bamboo Leaf Spritz. I thought these colors matched well with the colors of my sons shirt in the photo. I also used a little bit of Teal Me No Lies Texturez behind the photo.

sarascrapssketch1-5

I like the added texture that this doily gives the title cluster.

sarascrapssketch1-6

I also used the Chunky Stars from the shop to add neutral color to the cluster. I will do my journaling on this ‘Happy Dance’ 3×4 card before I stick it in my layout.

sarascrapssketch1-7

I am also thinking I might also do some hidden journaling and stick it in this cute little glassine bag.

I have a process video for this layout as well so I will be back a bit later to post that. You can keep an eye on my YouTube channel to see that. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re having a great scrappy weekend!!

Big Title Challenge with Crafty Meggy

Hello my SpiegelMom Scraps fans!! I am excited to be here today to share this fun winter layout I made to showcase one of the new sequin mixes in the shop, Classic Cozy. I absolutely LOVE this mix and definitely need to buy at least one or 2 more because it will be a favorite of mine for sure!! Anything with snowflakes is a must since we live in Idaho!!

Over in the 15 Minutes to Scrap facebook group Rachel has challenged us to use a big title this month. I really love the look of big titles and decided to use one of the foam word thickers, ‘Cherish’, from the ‘Fancy Free’ collection.

monthlychallenge1footer

I used the ‘Cherish’ word as part of the title and then the ‘Alyx’ Alpha for the rest.

monthlychallenge2

I had the background paper in my stash from a few years ago and it was pre-decorated with the north pole sign and even a reindeer and Santa. I didn’t want Santa or the reindeer to show so I cleverly placed my photo in that area.

monthlychallenge3

For the top part of the layout I thought it would be fun to use some blue bakers twine glued in random places and lengths and then put the snowflakes and other sequins along the twine. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it all that much, but it turned out better than I thought! Don’t you love it when that happens?!

monthlychallenge4

I really love the colors in this sequin mix!!

monthlychallenge5

I wanted to embellish a little bit on the photo and next to it so I cut out this cute little ‘snow day’ tag and glued down some sequins.

monthlychallenge9

I really had fun creating this layout!! I hope you can be inspired and create something with this months challenge! Come on over to the facebook group and share with us what you make!

Be sure to check out the store as well. You can use the code Megan15 to receive 15% off your order! I hope you have a great scrappy day!!

Scrapbooking Holiday Memories with Crafty Meggy

Hello hello again my fellow scrapbookers! I hope you’re all having a great week so far! Since we are approaching a lot of holidays in the next few months I thought it would be fun to address how to go about scrapbooking them.

The first idea I came up with was doing a grid layout. At first I was going to cut all the photos down to the same size and use the sequins to divide them, but I quickly realized my photos weren’t going to all be the same size.

gridlayout1footer

I still decided to stick with a grid theme, but I changed it to fit with my photos and journaling. I incorporated the amazing fall sequin mixes in with my grid and I really love the extra bling they bring to the layout.

gridlayout2

I had some cute project life cards that matched with the colors of Thanksgiving and I really love how they play off of the grid theme.

gridlayout3

I have always really enjoyed event scrapbooking and even though I love getting a lot of photos on a layout, I do have a hard time fitting more than 3 or 4 on a layout. With this grid theme I was able to stick all 6 of my photos on this layout easily.

gridlayout4

My favorite part is definitely the sequins! I used Autumn Joy and Falling Leaves mixes from the store. I also used the Cork Confetti stars to add another texture.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Make sure to come on over to the Spiegelmom Scraps store and take advantage of the great moving sale that Jody has going on right now! Use code MOVE35 to get 35% off through the month of October!

What about Wednesday: Sequin Pocket Love!

what about wednesday blog header

Hello again and happy Hump Day!! I hope your week is going great so far! This is Megan and I am excited to be back again today with you to share another layout. For this one I wanted to make a layout with a sequin pocket in a different way that I haven’t tried yet. I’ve used glassine bags and I’ve also used foam and a sheet of plastic. Let’s jump right into my layout!!

19oct1withfooter

I had so much fun making this layout!! I wanted to use a few different sequin mixes for the little tag pocket. I went with some of the new fall mixes, Autumn Joy and Falling Leaves. I also used A Day in the Woods. These 3 sequin mixes are so fun to use with fall photos!!

19oct2

The sequin pocket was so easy to make! I grabbed one of the tags from the shop and some vellum I had on hand. I placed the sequins I wanted on the tag, put glue on all 4 sides of the vellum and then placed it on top of the tag. For a better idea, you can watch my process video below. I show you how I make it in the video.

19oct3

I think this little cluster is my favorite on this layout, and it might be because of that adorable little clock!! I need to do research on what day these photos were taken and then I will stamp it on the label in this cluster.

19oct4

I really love the cute cork stars you can find in the shop! They put the finishing touches on this smaller cluster in the top right corner.

19oct5

Here’s another view of this cluster of labels and fun ephemera. You can also see the Shimmerz Texturez I used in Gold Mine on the edge of the layout, right next to the photo mat.

I also made a process video to go along with this layout. You can find it on my YouTube channel or below:

Make It Yours Monday: A Sketch with Crafty Meggy

make it yours monday

Hello SMS fans!! I hope you’re all having a great Monday so far! Today, I thought it would be fun to use the sketch that Laura made for this months challenge over in the facebook group. To stick with the theme of ‘Make It Yours’ I decided to tweak the sketch a little bit to make it more me.

This is the sketch that Laura made:

oct-sms-15challenge

I really love how simple it is and I wanted to stick with the simplicity, but add a few big layers to the layout as well.

sketchchallengelayoutwithfooter

So here’s my take on the sketch. I really love the end result!

sketchchallengelayout4

Before I started this layout I knew I wanted to use some of the new fall sequin mixes. They’re just so yummy! I settled on using 2 different mixes for this layout, Autumn Joy and A Day in the Woods.

sketchchallengelayout3

The sketch called for stitching or some sort of decoration in the top right corner and bottom left corner so I decided to use sequins to bring in this part of the sketch. At first I wasn’t quite sure how much I’d really like it, but in the end I think it turned out pretty good. I also decided to put my date in the top right corner with sequins to seperate the month, day, year.

sketchchallengelayout2

I didn’t want to do too much journaling on the page itself because I will have a companion page that I make about their relationship as best friends so I kept the journaling simple and to the point in the bottom left hand corner with the sequins.

sketchchallengelayout1

Here’s a better view of the whole photo cluster. I had fun with this sketch and using bigger layers to make it my own. I love using doilies in my scrapbooking and the large glassine bag fit in as another big layer as well. You can find these two products in the store as well.

I hope that you will come on over to the facebook group and share with us a layout you make using this months sketch! You’ll be entered into a drawing to win a fun prize at the end of the month!

Make sure to come check out these great products I’ve used today! Use code Megan15 to get 15% off your order anytime!

I hope you have a great scrappy week!

Scraplift Sunday with Crafty Meggy: Charming Boy

Scraplift Sunday

Hello SMS fans!! I hope you’re all having a great Sunday!! This is Megan and I have a light and airy layout for you today. Have you ever heard of a layout being described that way? lol It really does make me feel light and airy when I look at it, though!

Here’s the layout I lifted:

sept18layout

It’s an old layout by Maggie Holmes for Studio Calico!! I fell in love with it the minute I saw it and just had to lift it! I love all the banners. Are you guys tired of seeing me use banners on every layout yet? haha!

sept18layout1footer

I really love the light colors on this layout! These photos of my middle son Brynnan, just make me smile so big!! He’s such a sweet and charming boy!

sept18layout3

I made 3 clusters on this layout. In each of of them there was a cork heart and sequins from the Mocha Mint Dream sequin mix.

sept18layout4

For the title I used an American Crafts foam alpha and to keep your eye on the title I put a cork chevron piece at the beginning and the end, with a cork heart in the middle. I really love how that looks!

sept18layout5

This little banner cluster is the second one on the layout. I think it’s one of my favorite parts of the layout!

sept18layout6

You can watch the process video for this layout on my YouTube channel here or below:

Thanks for stopping by today!! I hope you enjoyed seeing my layout!

Scraplift Sunday with Crafty Meggy: Yard Helpers

Scraplift Sunday

Hello my scrappy friends! This is Megan and I’m up today with a scraplift layout. I found this layout on pinterest and fell in love with it!

scraplift11thsept

I have a huge thing for banners. I don’t know what it is but I really love using them on my layouts. I thought all these banners on the layout above would be fun to incorporate into a layout.

sept11layoutfooter

This is the layout I made with the inspiration from the original. I am really happy with how it turned out! I love the cute cork butterflies which you can find in the shop here.

sept11layout6

I also used one of the new sequin mixes, Mocha Mint Dream. I love the mint green color with the browns in the pack.

sept11layout2

I thought putting the sequins in a line along the banners looked really nice and the cork butterflies above and below the banners on the right side of the layout added some nice texture.

sept11layout3

I wanted the banners to stand out so I inked the edges with Close to my Heart Sapphire ink.

sept11layout4

These cork butterflies are probably my favorite part of the layout. I don’t know how you are, but I have a hard time using things like butterflies and flowers on my layouts because I have all boys and I feel like they aren’t as masculine.

sept11layout5

We’re selling our house so I spent some time planting new flowers and felt that butterflies and flowers worked well together. So, yay! I was able to use them on a layout.

If you’d like to see my process video on how I made this layout, you can find it below on my channel:

Scraplift Sunday with Crafty Meggy: This Lovely Moment

Hello everyone!! This is Megan and I am here to share with you a scraplift layout. I really love being able to find a fun layout on pinterest or other social media and make it my own. For today layout I found one on pinterest:

scraplift4thsept

I really love the layers underneath the photos on this layout and that is pretty much what I took from this layout.

sept4thlayoutfooter

I had these old old old photos of my mom when she was a toddler and I thought they would work perfect with the newish My Minds Eye collection called On Trend 2. I really love the colors of the pinks, mints and redish oranges together. And of course the gold!! Who doesn’t love gold?!!

sept4thlayout2

For the title I used an Amy Tangerine alpha called Memento and the word lovely came from the On Trend 2 chipboard set. Under the title I decided to use some of the Gold Sequin Confetti mix.

sept4thlayout3

I clusetered some flowers around the left side of the layout, next to the photo. I also used the ‘Amy’s Sprinkles’ sequin mix and put a gold sequin confettie piece in the middle of the flowers.

sept4thlayout4

Under the title I also added a little chipboard phrase that I thought added to the layout.

sept4thlayout5

I really love using sequins on my layouts and incorporating them into the design!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my layout today and how I used my sequins. I also used 2 little pieces of white doilies at the top of the photos. You can find those in the store as well.

Sketch Sunday with Crafty Meggy: Play on your Birthday!

Hello scrappy friends! I am changing things up a bit today and using the sketch that Lisa picked for the monthly challenge in the facebook group. I’ll be back in September with another Scraplift Sunday, though!

Here’s the sketch and the moodboard:

sketchsunday sketchsundaymoodboard

I really liked using these two pieces for my layout inspiration today. Here’s what I came up with:

sketchsunday20footer

I wanted to use that blue polka dot glassine bag that you can see behind the big focal photo in the middle. I decided to play off the blue color in the moodboard.

sketchsunday20-5

I have 3 little clusters on this layout. This one I used blue and white twine and a heart cork piece from the shop.

sketchsunday20-2

For the title I used the American Crafts Thickers called ‘Fancy’ from the Fancy Free collection, some Teresa Collins little aphas and the Fancy Pants Atwell puffy stickers.

sketchsunday20-3

For the top cluster I used the adorable Cork-Fetti Hearts mix. Isn’t this little banner of hearts just perfect?!! I love it!! I had the ‘Fancy Free’ puffy stickers and the word ‘yay’ worked on this layout because my son is opening and playing with a birthday present. I also added some twine and Gold Sequin Confetti. In this photo they are reflecting the light a ton!

sketchsunday20-4

Here’s a better view of the confetti sequins. I wanted to used them in place of mist in the sketch and I really love how it turned out.

sketchsunday20footer

Scraplift Sunday with Crafty Meggy: Just a Little Summer Sun

Scraplift Sunday

Hello scrappy friends!!  I hope you’re all having a great weekend!! It’s been crazy at my house with summer coming to an end and school starting in a few weeks. Also, we have decided to list our house for sale. Why not? Let’s add to the stress. LOL

Anyway, I have another scraplift layout to share with you this week and I am excited about this one! I found the layout on instagram on Letitia Guelpa’s account. You can find her on IG as @letitiaguelpa.

august14thlayoutscraplift

I just loved the big title and the patterned paper and use of multiple photos. Isn’t it just a darling layout!! I love it!

Here is my take on it and I am also so in love with my layout:

august14thlayout1footer

I have had the Claudia Van R Designs summer collection, called Hot Right Now, printed out for a while now and I haven’t used it yet so this week I decided to use that with my SpiegelMom Scraps products. I LOVE the colors of Claudia’s kit! They worked perfect with the photos I had of my middle son at swimming lessons.

august14thlayout3

I wanted to mimic the big and long title so I used an Amy Tangerine Thicker alpha set called ‘Other Half’. In the top left corner you can see a green and white diagonal striped paper….. BUT, it’s not a paper!! I fooled you didn’t I?!! lol I decided to use the diagonal striped glassine bags you can get in the shop and cut it up to fit that corner. I really love how it looks!

august14thlayout4

I used the pretty Spring Blooms sequin mix all down the layout around the big title. This was a happy accident because I spilt a bunch of them on the layout to the right of the title as I was pulling them out of the bag and I really like how it looked so I decided to “spill” them all around the title. I think that’s my favorite part of it! Don’t you love it when an accident happens and it just completes the layout?

august14thlayout5

The ampersand that I used in the title came with Claudia’s kit. I used my Silhouette cameo to cut out all the embellishments you see on this layout, including the ampersand. I popped it up on little pop dots to make it the same height as the thickers.

august14thlayout6

My son is on the far right. I really love this photo of him sitting with his class on the edge of the pool. I also love that you can see he is in a class of all girls. That seems to happen a lot with him. lol

august14thlayout7

I also used a few of the new cork hearts that haven’t been release yet, but they will be soon so keep your eye on the shop! I believe Jody will be adding them to the shop this week sometime!

august14thlayout2

I also used Shimmerz Dazzlers The Tide That Binds Texturez to add a faint paint look on the edge of the patterned papers. I like how it makes them stand out against the other papers and background.

august14thlayout1footer

Thanks for stopping by today!! I hope you enjoyed seeing my take on this scraplift! I will be back next Sunday with another scraplifted layout. I hope you’re enjoying all the great products in the store! Make sure to use code Megan15 to get 15% off your order total! Have a great Sunday!

Scraplift Sunday with Crafty Meggy: Hello Happy Lilac

Scraplift Sunday

Hello and Happy Sunday!! This is Megan here to share my very first post for SpiegelMom Scraps. I am so excited to share this layout with you using some awesome products from the store!!

I thought it would be fun to do a weekly Scraplift on the Sundays that I post and for this first one I picked a layout I saw on pinterest posted by D’lish Scraps and made by Sue Plumb.

scraplift7th

I absoluetly loved the layers and mixed media! It’s so gorgeous!

Here’s my layout with all of my little tweaks and personality thrown in:

august7thlayout

I really love how it turned out! I wanted to make it my own layout so instead of using a stencil on the background I decided to use my purple Amethyst Heidi Shine and the packaging technique with some water.

august7thlayout2

I love this photo of a dog we had a long time ago. There was a little space to the right of the photo so I decided to put the title there and one of my embellishment clusters. Behind the photo I have a medium glassine bag that I spread ‘I Lilac You’ Dazzlers paste onto to get a cool effect on. I layered a 6×6 pattern paper from the Fancy Free collection behind that and then a large glassine bag that I spread ‘Coral me Crazy’ Dazzlers onto. I really like the texture the Dazzlers add to the bags!

august7thlayout1

I really wanted to use these Birds of a Feather Felties and I really liked the long skinny one that I decided to use to help ground my title. I clustered the others around and layered them on top of each other.

august7thlayout3

In each of the 3 clusters I put a little bit of twine from my Citrus Twist Kit that I used for this layout as well as yellow and pink sequins from the Hot Right Now Sequin mix, the cute little pink flowers from the Raspberry Daisy Dream sequin mix and in the cluster above I also included 3 hearts from the Hearts on Fire sequin mix.

august7thlayout4

My third cluster I put up in the top right hand corner with a cluster of banners and tags as well as sequins, a felt feather and a resign word piece.

august7thlayout

Thanks for stopping by today!! You can find my process video below or on my YouTube channel here.

I’ll be back next Sunday with another Scraplift! I hope you have a great and inspired Sunday!
