Make It Yours Monday~My Heart

make it yours monday

It’s Monday, and that means it’s time for another Make It Yours Monday. I hope this makes your Monday a little bit more bearable! Today, I have an amazing layout from a fellow facebooker that caught my eye and I just HAD to try to Make it My own! I found this layout by Nicole Heinrich and thought it was beautiful, and hope my take does her’s justice!!!

To begin my layout, I took a piece of patterned paper from a Michael’s in my stash and gutted it, saving the middle for part of my layout. I trimmed down a piece of American Crafts Textured White Cardstock and layered them together to create the base of my layout. I then added my splatters (I like to do them first, so I dont ruin a almost done layout with bad splatters!) I used the Glorious Day Vibes and Cotton Candy Spritz, both in the Shimmerz shop!15977579_10211521490133849_5648871620858907918_n

After the mists were dry, I took the other piece of background paper and trimmed it to 6″ wide by 9.5″ long and adhered it slightly off center to one of the beautiful Chantilly Lace 8″ doilies available in the shop. I added my photo, backed with a piece of black vellum and cream and gold dotted paper and stuck the whole layered piece to my cardstock.15965193_10211521489453832_3981524529671325718_n

For my title, I used an older Heidi Swapp sticker set that you can foil yourself and placed it under my photo. I also foiled 2 hearts that came with the title sticker and placed on on the top right of my photo and one next to my title.  Instead of the arrows on the inspiration layout, I kept with the heart theme and sprinkled some gold Heart sequins on the lower left and upper right sides. I LOVE the sparkle they give off!! I added my journaling under the photo cluster and some gold rose washi to some edges and that was it. SO fast, SO fun and SO pretty and you could take this and adapt it to almost ANY layout! I hope you will take todays layouts and make them your own! If you do, be sure to use #makeityoursmonday so we can all see what your making!!

Make It Yours Monday- Hey Cutie!

make it yours monday

Hello and welcome back to another Make It Yours Monday!! Today I had fun making one of my fellow Sparkler Design Team member’s layout’s my own! Laura had shared this amazing layout and I just knew I wanted to take it on myself…

15844411_10157922015920456_6307250080820875334_o 1-9-collage

I started by backing my white American Crafts cardstock with a sheet of piglet pink Bazzill. I then used Shimmerz Cotton Candy Spritz , Jeni B Blue Vibez, gold color shine and a lilac mist from my stash to create the splatters. After they were dry, I layered my photo on some lavender cardstock and a piece of subtle pink pattern paper, both from my scraps box. I made sure to use one of the beautiful 4″ paper doilies from the shop in between the layers behind the photo.15894482_10211452529689881_2203182154309048612_n

After the mists were dry, I took a piece of OLD pattern paper from Imaginece and tore off the bottom to make a jagged, ripped edge and adhered a piece of torn vellum to the bottom edge to give some more texture. I added this piece to the white cardstock and used foam tape to add the photo on top.

I lined my thickers along the top edge of the pattern paper to create my title, “Hey Cutie!” and added my journaling below the patterned paper block. I took some of the beautiful flat pink and cupped purple sequins from the Amore sequin mix and some gorgeous gold hearts to bring some sparkle and shine around the page

I hope you enjoyed todays layout and will head on over to the SpiegelMom Scraps shop to pick up some of the awesome products I used today as well as some of the AMAZING new releases from this weekends HUGE product release!! Use LISA15 and save 15% off ALL your SpiegelMom Scraps shop purchases!

Make It Yours Monday~ Sparkle and Shine

make it yours monday

HAPPY NEW YEAR all my scrappy friends! I hope you all had an amazing holiday season full of love, laughter and fun!!! And here is to an amazingly productive and memorable year for you all. I cant wait to see what comes to be, especially in the way of new products from the SpiegelMom Scraps Shop!!!! Have you guys seen the sneak peeks of ALL the amazing new products coming to the shop in the next few days, OMG!!! I’m so excited for all the new sparkly, pretty things!1-2-collage

My layout today for you guys includes  great, sparkly sequin mixes you can get your hands on NOW! I used Wedding Bells and Moonshine Delight as well as some Shimmez in Spun Sugar Dazzlerz, Spritz in Bed of Roses and Bamboo Leaf, and a Vibez in Snow Storm. I used some Heidi Swapp ColorShine in Tinsel to bring some silver spatters also, to go with my Thickers.

I was SO inspired by the holly berry bokeh paper from Lawn Fawn! I love the photo effect of bokeh (when the lights are out of focus and just soft spots of light while the main subject is in focus, or just the soft glowing lights) and wanted to try to re-create it abstractly on my layout. I had this adorable photo of my girls playing with our Christmas lights last year when we were testing them and thought it was the perfect photo for this type of effect on an page. I started by adding some white shimmer trim tape from American Crafts to the bottom of a piece of white cardstock. I gutted and layered the frame of bokeh paper on top of the shimmer trimmed cardstock and added a piece of white American Crafts cardstock as my top layer to work on. I took all my shimmerz and got some splatters in each of the colors down as a base. I then used my spun sugar Dazzlerz and a stencil with various size dots to create some texture and fun dots!15741203_10211400719274653_1422983289330324267_n

I added my GORGEOUS 8″ Chantilly lace doily from the shop as my main photo layer. I spritzed it with some snow storm vibez to make it sparkle! I matted my photo on a piece of the bokeh paper and left a tiny boarder. I popped my photo up with some foam tape and adhered the doily and photo to my page. I also added 3 Tim Holtz Occasions chit chat word stickers to the bottom left of my photo (deck the halls, merry & bright, magic and merriment) making sure to add a tiny piece of foam tape to the ends that hang off the edge to make them the same height. My title went just to the right of my photo, towards the bottom.15894257_10211400718914644_4561716358638583473_n

Next, I had SO much fun using my sequins to try and achieve my bokeh effect!!! I sprinkled some of the solid white from Wedding bells amongsts the dazzlerz dots, keeping them close together, and then bring in some of the sheer iridescent ones from the same mix as well. I even used some of the sheer and silver TINY stars in the mix and dotted them around, to further the effect by varing  the sizes. The largest dots came in by using the Moonshine Delight sequins (they are 10mm, so fun!) I filled in any empty spaces with them, but keeping an odd number of 3 in each group ( I cant ever add, say, 4 or 2 of something, It bothers me!)15873038_10211400718634637_9192847943846278704_n

After everything was dry, I covered my photo and added a bit more splatter in each of my colors to help really emphasize the bokeh look. I tore the edges of my white paper for a soft look and was done!15781599_10211400719594661_6302475202463830026_n

For todays layout, I used one of  this month’s cut file, Flakey Background. I added some Moonshine Sequins as well as some of the cute little blue cupped ones from the new Cozy mix to the centers to make each snowflake sparkle! A few of the beautiful holographic snowflakes from the mix also added to the snowy feel I was going for.

I matted my photo on some icy blue cardstock and added some foam tape to give it some dimension on the page. I added my title to the right using some American Crafts Thickers and remarks Tile letters.

I ripped a piece white cardstock to look like a snow bank and adhered it to the bottom of my layout. Some Spun Sugar Dazzlerz added a great texture to lend the feel of snow banks to the bottom! A fun little Chipboard snowman and my journaling finished up this fun wintery page. I hope you enjoyed my layout today and Have an Amazing Holiday season!!!

Now for todays layout! This is one of my top 5 layout I’ve ever done. It took a little while to complete, but the effort was totally worth it. I got the idea from Audrey Yeager on Youtube, during her 12 days of Christmas videos (day one)12-12-collage

For the base of my layout, I used a piece of American Crafts White Cardstock and drew the cutfile I used with my Brother Scan N Cut (love that thing!!) and Misted the drawn on tree with some Bamboo Leaf Spritz from shimmerz to give a base color to the tree. Next, I stitched the entire design following the pattern I drew on. I stitched each “branch” using a 1/4″ green satin ribbon and a tapestry needle and connected each set of dots. It probably took me about an hour, but I did it in 2 sessions.15390650_10211186879888802_633592035661452101_n

Then, I used the center of my Maraschino cardstock to back my photo. I adhered the photo to the left of my ribbon tree, tucking one of the corners under some of the ribbon. Some gold glitter washi finished off the mat and made the photo stand out.15356581_10211186877648746_2440689730441978001_n

It’s time to decorate the tree!!! I used the flat cream sequins from the new Plum Dreamsicle Mix to create my strands of pearls, just like my tree has every year. The Mermaid Green sequins really helped the tree sparkle and blended beautifully with my ribbon. To add some festive colors, I sprinkled the Gold Confetti  sequins around like little gold ornaments hanging from the tree and the different reds in the New Cozy sequin mix just brought the tree to life like a set of lights!!! Every tree needs a beautiful topper, so I used a Chunky Cork Star to top off my tree. I added some foil glue and used gold foil sheets to give the star some sparkle while sitting high atop my ribbon tree!15442100_10211186881008830_1683184259074283459_n

I moved next to adding my title under my photo, and for that, I used some Jillibean soup tiny tile stickers in Avocado to spell out the “how, are, thy” and some gold Remark foil letters for the “lovely” and “branches” I covered the tree and photo with some scratch paper and misted some Gold Color Shine around the photo and some more bamboo leaf spritz over the tree to give each element a glow.15390820_10211186881488842_5508386966606794731_n

A few glittery holly leaves and enamel dots spread around to bring a touch more texture and a strip of glittery gold washi tape at the bottom to ground the tree was all my layout needed to feel finished, along with a bit of doodle-y boarder around the edge. I mounted the entire page on the rest of the Maraschino cardstock with some foam tape, because the ribbon on the back would not let it lay flat!

I am so happy with how this turned out. Every year, we have the same base look to our tree, with the angel, pearls and white/colored lights and now, we will have a way to remember this if we ever change the look, or for our girls to look back on and remember too.

Thank you for stopping by and joining us today! I hope you will take the chance to take your favorite holiday memory and capture it on a page. Make it yours and make it fun!!! And, dont forget about the wonderful sale over in the shop!!! Happy Monday!!!

Make It Yours Monday- Snow Duck?

make it yours monday

Hello, and Happy Monday! It’s Lisa, and Im here today with a fun Make it yours Monday layout! I have seen a few layouts lately with white space, and I always have a hard time leaving empty areas on my layout! I like to fill everything with pretty things!!! SOOO, today, I’m making white space mine!!

I started out with a piece of white American Crafts Cardstock, trimmed down to 11.5″ x 11.5″ Using the packaging technique, I added some Shimmerz Vibez in Cold as Ice and some Spritz in Bamboo Leaf to crate a wintry, snowy feel.

For the photo, I layered a piece of white tissue paper that I crumpled up first. It gives great texture! I used a great piece of blue and white glitter that resembled blowing winter wind as a horizontal layer and a piece of Amy Tangerine Happy Day paper for the vertical strip.15283911_10211091025132493_867109090027571668_n

I used the new cut file, Flakey background, for the snowflakes that I scattered around the edge of my photo. I added some of the pretty light blue sequins to the center of the snowflakes and sprinkled the holographic snowflakes from the Cozy sequin mix from last months release in the snowflake clusters.  For the title, I used Thickers to spell out “Snow Duck?” under the photo and I added my journaling under the title, to the right.

To finish the layout, I mounted the layout onto the same Amy tangering paper I used for the vertical strip under the photo.

Don’t forget to visit the shop to pick up all the amazing products I used today, plus so many of the other beautiful products in the Spiegelmom Scraps Shop!!!! Use LISA15 to save 15% off her awesome prices to get a great deal!!! Have a great, scrappy day.

Make It Yours Monday~Fall Family Fun

make it yours monday

Hello Everyone!! It’s another Make It Yours Monday here on the SpiegelMom Scraps. This week, we are still having a fun time using sketches during our Sketch Swap with the girls over at Let’s Get Sketchy!!! I had a Ton of fun with this sketch…

First, I did take some creative liberties with this sketch! I decided to turn it sideways to fit the orientation of my photo. I did keep with the same aspects though!

A piece of American Crafts White Cardstock was the perfect base to starting point for this layout. I used Shimmerz Vibez in Sunset Strip to create some warm but subtle spatters in the background. I set that aside to dry and began to work on the photo area. I matted my photo with 3 different autumn papers from Echo Park (the pumpkins), Pink Paislee ( blue polka-dots) and Simple stories (orange dots). I also used a piece of Simple Stories Basics wood grain for the large square on the top left. I then adhered the photo to my layout when the Shimmerz was dry.

In my stash, I had a beautiful leaf stamp, so I used versa mark ink to add a few falling leaves to my page. Orange and Purple embossing powder really made them stand out. For 2 of the leaves, I actually mixed the 2 colors and they are SO pretty!!!

15036436_10210936563271043_2226107018408032805_n   15107310_10210936562751030_1508870802406350279_n

For my top cluster, I brought some of the papers from the photo layers up in strips, and fussy cut a pumpkin for the center. Another leaf stamp looks perfect up there joining the pumpkin! I added a Tim Holtz tiny word sticker from the Occasions set to finish off the corner.

I used Jillybean Soup Tiny alphas in orange to spell out the Fall and Fun in my title. . I added a die cut “Family” from the Simple Stories Sweater Weather pack to complete it.

THEN, The fun part!!! I got to use the AMAZING NEW Plum Dreamsicle SEQUIN MIX!!! I added some to the top cluster, Sprinkled them amongst the embossed leaves and a few with the title. I LOVE this new mix. They are SOOOOO Pretty!!! There is a gorgeous purple iridescent in it that has the most unique sheen to them, WOW. There is also a really pretty cream flat sequin that compliments it so well!!!

I seriously would urge you to head on over to the SpiegelMom Scraps shop and use LISA15 to get 15% off theses STUNNING new beauties, and you whole purchase!!!! AND, we would love to have you join us over in our FUN facebook group, 15 Minutes 2 scrap with SpiegelMom Scraps.
