Make It Yours Monday~Splash!

Hello my scrappy friends!! I hope you all had a WONDERFUL Easter with tons of fun, family, blessings and yummy food!! I know the day after a holiday (esp. a Monday!!) can be tough so I hope my layout today will make your Monday just a little bit better!

I just enjoyed the weather so much yesterday, that I decided to pull out some sunny, warm photos from last summer! I was completely inspired by my Sparklers DT sister, Laura Rumble. I LOVE her simplistic but beautiful style and this layout of hers was just stunning…

So, for my layout today, I took the Gorgeous strip of sequins as my main focus. I began with a piece of American Crafts White Cardstock and backed it with a paris blue cardstock. It was the perfect blue to compliment the pool photo. Then I started my background for my photo. I misted Jeni B Bleu Vibez straight onto the cardstock and let the mist spread out. I added some splatters with Mama Sings The Blues coloringz and had the perfect pool splash!!!For my photo, I started matting it with a piece of blue glitter cardstock, for some more watery shimmer. A second mat was added in pink, to pull in the color of her bathing suit. I added one more final mat, this time using a glassine bag from the shop. I used the glassine bag as a place to tuck my hidden journaling, on a shipping tag, also from the shop. I tied on a piece of May Arts Bakers twine to finish off the tag, tucked it into the bag and adhered the completed photo cluster to the top 1/3 of my layout, among the misty splatters.

Then came the fun sequin part!! Just under my photo, I laid down a thick line of wet adhesive (I prefer Scotch Quick Dry) and dumped all of my Pandora’s Ombre sequin mix into the wet glue!! I tilted the paper and collected the loose sequins and repeated until all the glue was covered with sequins. I added my chipboard title “Splash” from the old Poolside collection and then, sprinkled some more sequins around the title and page.

This was a really fun and quick layout that that really makes a bit impact. I hope you will give a simplistic layout a shot this week and make one of your favorite products SHINE!!

Make It Yours Monday~Sunshine

Hello my scrappy friends and welcome to another Make It Yours Monday!!! I hope you have had a chance to check out our awesome blog hop from this weekend, LOTS of great projects were shared!!

Today, I have a layout for you that I was inspired to make by one of the monthly cut files Spieglemom offers. You can find them HERE.

I used the You are my Sunshine cut file and as soon as I saw it, I thought of a beautiful, sunshine filled photo of my daughters I took recently. I knew it was perfect for this file and really am happy with how this layout came together.

I started by taking a piece of America Crafts white cardstock and used my Heidi Swapp sunburst stencil. I misted both Glorious Day and Sunset Strip Shimmerz to create a subtle sun ray pattern on the background. I also used some Snow Way Man and Pink Stilettos mists to create some splatters and bring in colors from my photos.

Next, I cut my file from 2 different colored cardstocks. I used my Scan N Cut to cut the sun from a yellow and the clouds from a light blue. For the sun, I used various yellow sequins from a few different mixes to fill the center and make it shine like, well, the sun!! I used yellows from Pocket full of Posies and A Day in the Woods. To make the clouds stand out a bit more, I edged them with some Baby Boy Blue Paste-eez on a dauber.  To add some interest to the clouds, I used the end of a paintbrush to add some Puttin on the Glitz Paste-eez on the edges of the clouds. This brought some fun sparkle to them!!

For my photo, I backed it first with a very light pink and then a darker pink cardstock and added a really pretty piece of watercolory orange and pink paper with fun glittery polka dots. I added the clouds and sun pieces on some foam tape and added it to my background.

The title of my page was cut from a darker blue polka dot paper using the cut file again. I added it to the right of the photo and it fit there perfectly!!

To finish this fun page, I sprinkled some blue sequins from the Cozy mix around the page for added sparkle and some more yellow’s from Pocket full of Posies. A strip of vellum and pattern paper to the top and bottom corners, journaling on the back, and my layout was complete!!

I hope you will check out all the fun products in the shop and use LISA15 for 15% off all your purchases!!!

I hope you have a crafty day!!

Make It Yours Monday~ & I’ll Always Love You

Happy Monday scrappy friends and welcome to another Make It Yours Monday. Today, I have a layout for you, and I was inspired by the photo itself! I’m using a photo from my Mom and Step-dad’s (I hate that word!! lol, more like 2nd dad) wedding in 1992!! The inspiration came from the tiny purple flowers in the right corner. I was 9 years old and remember the day so well, and remember the color purple was very prominent that day. So, I chose to honor the memory and, well, use A Lot of purple to scrap it!!!

I started by layering a piece of American Crafts white textured cardstock on a piece of lilac cardstock. I took Grapetastic Dazzlerz, Punked Up Purple Coloringz and the new Don’t be a Pansy Paste-eez and watered down the pastes. I created splatters with all of the purples and set it aside to dry.

Then, I got to my layers behind my photo. I LOVE the new paper from Dear Lizzy’s Lovely Day that has great black and white floral’s. They were beautiful to take the Punked Up Purple Colorings to and spot color some of the flowers. Then, I  rummaged through my scraps box for the remainder of my layers. I backed all of the papers with piece of sparkly tulle and added a beautiful Chantilly lace 8″ doily from the shop to the back of the layers.

Next, I adhered some white crape paper to a strip of cardstock and ruffled them before stitching down the center with my sewing machine. I added the ruffles to the bottom of my photo and that completed the photo layers.

Next, I took a & Then What? cork ampersand and painted some watered down punked up purple colorings to give the cork a tint of color. I added a black ampersand to the bottom left corner of the photo and added a sprinkling of Opaque Orchid Sequins and Wedding Bells sequin’s  in a diagonal.  I used some of the same papers I used in my photo layers to create 3 little banners in the top right corner and continued the sequins onto them also.

In the bottom right corner of the page, I added my title. & I’ll Always Love You, which was also there wedding song!! I added a floral piece from Oh My Heart, a bit of journaling to the left of the title, a doodle boarder with my clean color pens in wisteria and my Layout was complete. I really love how purple it is!!

So, this week, make it yours and be inspired by photos!! Thank you so much for joining me this week and Dont forget to use LISA15 for 15% off all your shop purchases!!!!

Make It Yours Monday~ Bunk Beds

Hello Scrappy Friends!! It’s Lisa and I’m here with another Make It Yours Monday. Today’s layout was inspired just yesterday by a wonderful layout I saw on Facebook by Madeleine Lee. I absolutely love all aspects of her page! Those strips, the sequins! I sat down immediately to create my page, I was so drawn to it!

For my page, I used a piece of yellow stripped paper, 05, from Page Evan’s Fancy Free to back my white cardstock. I then had a blast with my Shimmerz, using Bamboo Leaf Spritz, Deep Blue Sea Vibez, Jeni B Bleu Vibez, Mandarin Mai Tai Coloringz, Pretty In Pink Coloringz, Vibez in Razzldazzle Berry and Glorious Day Vibez!!! I splattered a bit of each color onto my background to create a colorful base for the rest of my page.

I made good use of my scraps box, finding all the right colors without having to cut into any new papers! I used a strip of scrap laying horizontal with some adhesive to hold my strips into place when I had them just right, and then used my sewing machine to stitch them into place.

For my photo layers, I started with a medium glassine bag from the shop, a strip of gold foiled paper from my scraps box, a piece of torn vellum and a pretty purple scrap that was the perfect size. I tucked a 4″ doily into the layers before I adhered them together. I placed the photo onto the page, slightly to the left.

On Trend 2 ephemera was the perfect place to start for embellishments, they had a fun tropical feel to them. I placed a coral heart with fun foil polka dots on top of the doily in the lower left of my photo. I tucked one of the gold pineapples just behind the doily to finish that cluster. I added my journaling to a manila shipping tag and tucked it into glassine bag, the bottom layer of the photo layers!! I had a pretty blue piece of ric rak on my desk that was the perfect color and length to finish the tag.

Another pineapple in the top right corner of the photo was a fun way to start my next cluster. I added a tiny cork confetti heart and a yellow flower from the Happy Dance sequin mix, the flowers have a great tropical fee to them!

My title fit perfectly to right of my photo, and it was fun mixing the two fonts to create it. A Happy Day flower fit perfectly into the title also.

Then, it was time for the SPARKLE!!! I used multiple sequin mixes  to create 2 clusters, in the top left and bottom right corners of my page. Pocket Full of Posies, Rockin’ Pink Ombre, Strawberry Bubblegum, Sweet Pea and Happy Dance all complemented my photo and papers perfectly, so I used a few from each. You can never have to much sparkle!!!!!

Make It Yours Monday~Forever

make it yours monday

Happy Monday and welcome to another Make It Yours Monday!!! This week, I was actually inspired by a layout on one of my 12×12 paper pads! This Lovely layout is on my Jen Hadfield Home+Made back cover and I love how simple and lovely it was, so I wanted to put my own twist on this great page!287190-700

I started with a black sheet of cardstock and trimmed down a sheet of American Crafts White Cardstock by a 1/2″ on 2 sides and centered it onto the black and adhered it down. I misted the white cardstock with some Shimmerz Cotton Candy Spritz and Glorious Day Vibez and added a few splatters.PicMonkey Collage

While the mists were drying, I started the middle strip. I took a 6×12″ piece of black cardstock and mounted a pink floral pattern paper after trimming a 1/4″ from all the sides. I mounted my photo and 3×4 card on some gold foiled paper and then backed the 3×4 card with a bit of torn vellum and a 4″ doily from the shop. I then adhered both the card and photo on some more black cardstock and put another doily behind the photo. I adhered them to the pink pattern paper and mounted the whole paper block onto the background. I used some thickers to spell my title out just above the photo.17021532_10211933848162542_7724758068643545012_n

In the top left corner, I used half a doily and some stickers from the Simple Stories Heart collection as well as some Morning Dew Drops sequins. I sprinkled some of the pretty iridescent sequins around the rest of the page also to bring in more sparkle.16997883_10211933848322546_4997234246351491433_n

I added a butterfly to the 3×4 card and a heart to the photo and my journaling went right beneath the paper strip in the center of the page.

I really hope you will take a look around your stash and be inspired by something you see on the packaging or something your hoarding an make a great page based on what you have found!

Make It Yours Monday~ Dawn

make it yours monday

Welcome back to another Make it Yours Monday. Today’s inspiration layout by Caroline Free is so beautiful, I knew it was perfect for this photo.

2-20 Collage

I started with a few pieces of American Crafts white cardstock. I used one as the base and one for the cut file of leaves. On the base, I splattered some Glorious Day Vibes for some pretty gold shimmer.16832237_10211876403806469_4582393468187328994_n

I then laid the cut file, which was a wreath to start, in each corner and trimmed the extra leaves. I added some pop dots under some of the leaves to make them stand out a bit, since it’s tone on tone. 16641052_10211876403326457_8497898621470489270_n

I mounted my photo, (the sunrise from the morning I learned my Mom had passed) on some gold patterned vellum and navy cardstock. I added it to the layout in the center of the layout to make it the star of the page, 16807731_10211876403966473_7713851077258952295_n

Then, I got to fussy cutting the beautiful flowers, I used Paper 10 from the Pink Paislee Take Me Away collection. I made sure to cut more than I needed to see which ones would fit best where I needed them. I layered them on to the layout and adhered them down when I got the right combination of flower pieces. 16807731_10211876403966473_7713851077258952295_n

The title fit perfectly under the photo’s right corner, and I stayed with the white on white and used some pretty sparkly white Thickers. 16865166_10211876404326482_2618604383938733431_n

This layout really would not have felt finished without some sparkle. The new Morning Dew Drops were the perfect finishing touch. 16649109_10211876403846470_2610927123907361766_n

Make it Yours Monday~Happy New Year 2017

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I know it’s a bit into the new year, but I just got these adorable photos back and wanted to use them! For Make it yours Monday, I took my inspiration from my fireworks photo!!! I wanted to recreate them, and what better way to do it, then with SEQUINS!!!!

PicMonkey Collage

I wanted to make sure I liked how they were going to turn out, so I started to lay them out on a piece of vellum. I decided to leave them on the vellum because to me, it looked like the smoke that is left after the fireworks. I used Pinkie Pie Pinks, Whats up Buttercup, Wedding Bells, Gold Confetti Sequins, Mirror Mirror, and Aqua Marine Dream to create all the fun firework pieces (links to each will be below). I am using black cardstock for my base today, and sprinkled some of the tiny stars in some of the mixes to look like the night sky.

I mounted my photos on a piece of gold glitter cardstock to keep with the sparkly and fun theme of my layout.

I used my spectrum noir sparkle pens to add the firework tails, some silver thickers for my title and silver glitter washi tape at the top and bottom of the page to finish off this page in a great way! I love how this page came together!!!
